Persona has released before on a very tight schedule so it was completely realistic.

Different platform, different circumstances. Past performance isn't always an indicator of future performance, especially when adding more than one supported platform. Think about it, they pretty much skipped the PS3 gen entirely (yes they did Catherine, but the scale and scope of that game hardly compares to a full RPG), and this time they're doing a PS3 AND a PS4 release. With a publisher/owner switch in the process with the whole Index mess. They never even gave a more refined date aside from "2015," which is universally never a good sign in any industry.

Yes, Atlus should have handled the messaging a lot better. But to put blind faith in a release dare while ignoring all the above factors to coincide with the limited info released about anything of the game and the quietness on the retail front, any reasonable person should have some level of skepticism even if they are the biggest Atlus fan. Many of us are despite thinking there was a high probability of a delay.

Those of us who were following P3 on this forum leading up to its release in Japan saw more info than what we see now for P5 2-3 months prior to release.

They should have just said TBA, but Atlus USA and the constant debates made it a lot worse.

I'm honestly 100% fine with it being 2016, but it was a bit annoying to see some people refuting the idea up until this very point.

I want the best Persona 5 we can get so no problems with this. All the teasing and assurances from Atlus is kind of obnoxious in retrospect when we all know how this shit works and there was a high probability of a delay. Don't prey on people's expectations if you don't really know.

A delay certainly isn't unexpected, but almost a year? Wow. For me, this is probably the worst game delay since Twilight Princess a decade ago. At least here they aren't just shoving in waggle and sitting on it until a console launch.
