Well I do not know about the rest of the fandom, but he is one of my favorite characters. I mean come on, he is a Bruce Lee homage. That automatically makes him awesome.
He fights with batons, that automatically makes him a loser. He's also lame looking (after Alex I don't want any more blonds).
As for the bag: Grown up Sakura brehs.

there are tons of details to reveal. offline and online modes and features, profile and community details, monetization/DLC plans, tournament support, etc. I mean, if they are indeed paying attention to and drawing from popular online competitive games, there will hopefully lots of substantial new features to show off. I actually want the characters out of the way so we can dig into what this game is actually going to be like once its in our hands

Did we ever figure out that roster preview from EVO and what it meant? The one with the coloured portraits?

Why do people keep saying/thinking that new Ono tease is on a new stage? It's the Brazil stage. You can even see the telephone lines and red wall and steps between Ryu's legs.

I'm almost certain the bottom right four are Alpha characters, the leftmost section is Mainline SF (1-4) and of course, newbies in the top right. Of course, this is just me wanting more than 1 SF3 character at this stage. No SF4 characters is super weird.
They specifically said "classic SF characters". What qualifies as classic is up for debate. Though for now, I'm going with the Siliconera leak unless a reveal throws said leak out of whack. At least we know for sure that we aren't gonna get any SF4 characters in the base roster (unfortunate news for the likes of Juri & Crimson Viper).

More specifically they said "classic characters that everyone would expect in a Street Fighter game" (paraphrased). That could mean a lot. It could potentially include guys like Dan and Sakura.
He was only in CvS2 and SFA3 Upper Max, meaning hardly anybody knows who he is.

Yah, I don't think he'll be given another chance. He, like Maki, must have had someone willing to give them a chance (Itsuno?), to spice things up. They will most likely not return (and R Mika was given a chance by Ono).

Birdie is from Sf1, so he would be a mainline guy too. What dahlgreen said is probably the categories

Except Birdie's card lists Alpha as his first appearance. I know Capcom is wrong, but it's their category.
Yeah, I think the only characters to be acknowledged as being from SF1 these days are Ryu, Ken, and Sagat.

I wonder if the 2nd Beta that was intended to start this month was delayed after the initial Beta's kurfuffle.
Non the less if the 2nd Beta has offline versus, I'ma do that Amazon pre-order thing

I wouldn't hold my breath.. Ken and Necalli at the most I'm expecting.
But the whole color thing is just speculation at this point and the "unverified" claim has been on point so far.

This + the updated Bison would make me 100% happy.
1) There are 3 distinct colored regions.
2) The characters are clearly placed within categories based on these colored regions.
3) One of the regions has 4 slots, and we know we are getting 4 new characters.

Or you are saying that the green space for classic characters only includes from mainline titles up until SF3 ?

Agreed, Juri is most likely gonna be DLC, but we aren't gonna get a character from SFIV in the base roster. An argument could be made for SFIII qualifying as classic (though that depends on who you ask), & at least the SFIII crew has a reliable leaker backing them up (or at least two of them). But as you said, the SFIV crew is too much of a stretch.
Note that I said "an argument could be made". I never said that it's the absolute fact. Instead, I said that if someone wanted to argue in favor of the SFIII characters being counted as classic, they could. But Capcom's description of the green section made it pretty clear that it won't include any SFIV characters.

The original beta was the e3 build. The e3 build was shown a month earlier than the original beta date. Mika was revealed in August and the next beta is supposed to take place in the fall.
I'm willing to bet the next beta will have Mika. At the very least Vega will be included.

He has gotten a lot better about that. You have to admit, though, that a SFIV character probably doesn't fit the idea of "classic".

That's fine in my book, I really want to try out SF5 Ken.
Makes sense, but who knows what they will consider classic characters.
Just hope that definition isn't everyone from SF2.

Thanks, & I agree. The SFII crew are definitely classic, no doubt about that. We already know that Alpha falls under the "characters we haven't seen in a while" category. The SFIII cast can be argued one way or the other, but at least they're debatable. The SFIV cast are, like you've previously mentioned, too new. Not exactly a cast that would fit the qualifications of being "classic".
At least Juri is hella popular, making her pretty likely as DLC. No guarantee, but her chances are better than most (except Akuma if he's not in the base roster).

I would love to have Juri in, though. With Bison, Necalli, and Juri, I am guaranteed to find my main between the 3, since they represent three different archetypes: defensive play, offensive play, and zoning, respectively.
Like I said, besides Akuma (assuming he doesn't make the base roster), Juri's among the most likely to be DLC. I wouldn't worry about her too much. She's basically the equivalent of Wolf's chances as Smash 4 DLC. People may worry about her getting in at all, but she's a pretty safe bet as DLC already.

I knew it! SF1 Birdie and Alpha Birdie aren't the same character.
"Birdie" must be a gang name for boss or something. The boss of Birdie's gand becomes "The Birdie". SF1's Birdie was overthrown by Alpha Birdie.
Alpha one could even be replaced by fat Birdie.
