Played Rising Thunder for about 3-4 hours today.

As many great and interesting ideas are in this game... there are quite a few baffling design choices as well.

Like for example I can't believe that S-Kill forgot to give some characters anti-air normals. Characters generally have sweeps for their Down Heavy which means they don't have an uppercut like normal move. Only way to anti air aside from using DPs is to do air to airs.

Also the FADC system is in this game which includes dumb stuff like making specials safe or getting 40% combos off of random DPs. Also the game has backdash invincibility, again just like SF4.

Some characters don't even need to FADC to do a combo off of a DP. Chel can get a solid combo off of her DP and even throw you into her super off of it!

The cooldowns don't really prevent this dumb stuff... people are still going to go for random DPs because its just too rewarding.

However since it was actually playable it was infinitely more fun than the SFV beta for me.

So FADCs and invincible back dashes were part of the Seth influence on SF4?

Standings didn't really change much after the Shanghai ranking event.

-Fuudo tied Ricki in points (tied in 21st)
-Humanbomb leap frogged Ricki and Snake Eyez (now 19th seed)
-Xiaohai is guaranteed to have as many points as 801 Strider and more than Bonchan, PR Rog, and Dark Jiewa giving him the 14th seed
-Xian is guaranteed to be the 8th seed surpassing Luffy and Poongko
-No new players in the top 32, although a couple of Americans now have a lower seed

There are
-5 more NA ranking events and 2 NA premier events left. 2 NA ranking events take place on the same weekend.
-7 more Asian ranking events and 3 Asian premier events left. Singapore acts as a ranking and premier event and whether any of those gives out points is up in there.
-4 more EU ranking events and 2 EU premier events left. Dreamhack doesn't give out any points.

There is SCR and what else for the premier event?

This destroyed any interest I had in the game

Like I hate losing as much as the next person but I legit don't understand what it is about zoning or throws that set some people off. Is it some sort pf personality quirk? Like I'm not even talking about broken zoning characters or shitty matchups (old Tager vs Lambda) but just like any sort of zoning/throw game in a FG with any sort of respectable balance. This never seems to get better in the gaming community as time passes either. It's so damn fucking weird to me.

People don't like thinking. They want to get in there and push buttons and make hype happen. Projectiles ruin that flow.

According to the official rules, no points will be given out past October.

Dreamhack Winter will not give out any points and will likely lose it's automatic qualifying spot. There is money given out so all the killers will be there and the chances of the top 4 not being made up solely of qualified players are low.

So Asia practically only has 6 more ranking events left because the Singapore ranking event is not giving out any points and the winner of that tournament will have to go up against players like Infiltration, Nemo, Bonchan, and others in a round robin.

While I am not going to support anything that guy is saying... in this game a low level scrub Chel can beat any other player using a different character because she has a fairly good projectile on a single button. You can be pretty bad at fighting games but you can just spam the button (and occasionally jump up and fire the projectile to catch them jumping) and beat pretty much all low level players. It takes less thinking to just throw out those fireballs than it is to get in. Some characters in this game don't actually have great ways to get around that.

On the opposite end you have Crow which is basically the Ibuki of the game... set play city all day long. Not at all surprising that the two people who have been crying about Chel are Crow players...

Well, at least it's an alpha, things could change for the better during the next 6 months, but I'm baffled they insist on the FADC bullshit like this.

We're the movesets interesting at all, Dahbomb? It looked like Street Fighter with robots, but robots should have all kinds of crazy stuff going on. You should be able to drop missile silos as a zero recovery action, manufacture drones out of your body, etc.

Not really if I am going to be quite honest.

The most interesting characters from that roster are Crow and Vlad in terms of moveset and design. Crow is an interesting take on the set play character archetype. Vlad has some flight mechanics but it's definitely not MVC2 Sentinel/Painwheel.

Someone like Chel is basically just Ryu. Talos is your typical grappler. Edge is kinda cool though, he has a charge up mechanic.

I'm also curious when the other Japanese premier event will take place. There are 2 empty weekends in October, 2 weekends before TGS in September, and all of August. However, there are multiple ranking events on those weekends. This opens up the possibility of players outside the top 32 getting a lot of points as many Japanese players have prevented other players from getting points throughout the year.

Brazil takes place on the same weekend as SCR, but only SCR is giving out money. The Asian killers will go to SCR for the money.

Looks like the bottom half of the top 32 will be trickier to predict now that gatekeeping will be much harder to do with all these overlapping events.

I was listening to Trap Queen and I thought Juri for no good reason. What Song makes you think of a character? Another one I see is Mi talk with Gun Shot by Vybz Kartel being deadpool an Dante in Marvel.
