Fighting Games Weekly | July 27 - Aug 2 | Beta luck next time

Summer costumes for Tekken 7.

Pretty soon Tekken is going to just give up all pretense like DOA did.

Damn, how does anybody ever get decent at guilty gear? Just picked up xrd and it's intimidating as fuck. Everything about this seems harder than the more mainstream 2d fighters. Anybody pick this game up not having played the previous iterations and feel like they can utilize all the options from the tutorials/land combos/etc?

Like I'm doing the missions and I can't even get the one that's basically "wakeup dp" with any kind of accuracy. If the timing is that strict I'm amazed anybody is able to play this game at a high level. Better off just spectating like those tetris guys from GDQ.

GG and Tekken reuqire master thesis to reach ground level. Good luck. Me, I just said hell no. Even though I love Elphelt and I want to support Jacko, but those games share their world with no one else....

The answer is as always practice. You spend enough time and you can probably do all of it. But you also have to remember that you don't need to master all of it to play casually. It's probably better to skip to the next mission if you can't finish one after a few attempts.

I only agreed at first because I had seen up to Greed Island, but now I'm in the middle of the Chimera Ant arc and shit is crazy. HxH would be spectacular if ASW were forced to make a fighting game adaptation with no less than 20 characters.

Always and forever.

What playable character even use a vacuum cleaner? The only character I can think of is Marie from Skullgirls and she was only playable through a hack (for a while anyways iirc).

What did he do?

Vacuum Cleaner= Tessa from Waku Waku 7 (the maid robot)

Getting decent at GG takes a bit more time than say SF4, but I think SF4 is equally hard to actually get good at and its mostly because the roster is much bigger. Xrd is my first GG, and I don't think its anywhere near as difficult as people make it out to me. There are a lot of game mechanics so the initial learning curve is higher, but all of those game mechanics are what makes it balanced and allows characters to deal with bad matchups.

People on PS4 are really low level for Ultra. I was working on my fireball game with Ryu, and I won 7 matches in a row just mixing up fireballs and sweeps. >_>

Edit: Also, does Xian mean that Necalli is playable?

Good to see PS4 has a lower skill floor maybe if forstered properly it can get more new people into it.

One person told me Tekken was easy and I laughed. But honestly let me clarifiy, for somebody with no fighting game vocabulary, GG would be very hard. Most people who enjoy it and say it is easy perhaps have a fighting game vocabulary and therefore the connections in the brain are already there making it simpler to learn.

Definitely hit a point where I hate Rising Thunder. Maybe I'll be able to finally tell if I should just quit fighting games all together.

Oh and it just crashed and rebooted my PC.

I was watching Youtuber ModernWarNegro and he was complaining about her too lol.

He also called it abusing the game and kept saying "play the fucking game bro" which more conscious minded people in chat kept saying, "it's zoning". But he was headstrong in calling it "cheap" and "abusive" and I guess he felt that being close range mashing buttons is what fighting games are.

Taking a guess and saying they are new to the FGC.

I dunno I don't really like Rising Thunder that much.

The control scheme just isn't as intuitive as it should be atm.

They say they simplified the fighting game genre but it's the first game where I have to use all 8 buttons on my arcade stick.

its not about being new to the FGC, it's about having complete lack of knowledge on fighting game fundamentals and being stuck in a mentality where you feel fighting games fit a mold and if people don't play within that mold they are abusing the game.

That's why mah dawg Dhaslim can never rock.

That dude from the RT video is having a meltdown on twitter apparently.

ok. well this is just someone with uncontrollable anger problems then.

How someone get hit by sweep like 9 times in a round tho... How you gonna complain if you absolutely refuse to block?

Like Seth said you can lead a scrub to water but you can't make them think. No matter how simple your control scheme or how little motions you got the basic nature of a traditional fighting is something some people can't handle. Starting to believe that complicated controls aren't as big of a barrier as the mindset is.

Really weird that RT has a dedicated throw and super button and no way to bind multiple buttons to that function. Maybe it makes more sense on a keyboard

Dude is super pissed.
Everything that happens in a match is fair game and there is no one way to play a fighting game. People are actively trying to figure out ways to abuse the limited tools they have been given in the best way possible and you should be thinking that way too. When someone does a move or special on you and you can't defend agaisnt it then it is well in their right to abuse that move until you figure a way out but teaching people this is another story.

That other dude went on a 20min rant about the FGC and even Seth lol.
