Fighting Games Weekly | July 27 - Aug 2 | Beta luck next time

I don't think you get what that statement means.

People are crying they cant be obnoxious as fuck with no respect to fellow players. Yet want big organized events with lots of money involved.

I don't see a conflict there...what's wrong with wanting to maintain your scenes culture as it grows? the less we act like LoL where half our commentators wouldn't be let close to a Mic the better imo. There is clearly more than one way to get big and I think the scene is appealing enough as it is.

Of course what oni did was pretty fucking disrespectful (although kinda hilarious) but that kinda thing doesn't define the scene...It's just a guy acting like a dick

good thing video games aren't sports then

RT's controller scheme feels so foreign to me that I wish they'd make a 3 button layout with special motions. Also let me 2 button throw with light and special 1.

It was over the line, but allowing an admitted germaphobe control the narrative of how Poongko supposed to feel is equally ridiculous. We saw how Poongko reacted. He perfected Onii-san to shut him up.

I felt pretty uncomfortable when dude put his shirt on Poongko. It was over the line.

Agree.
If they were bros or something and ran in the same circles it would be one thing, but I think it is safe to say that isn't the case.
Much respect to Poongko for the way he handled it

even esports doesn't know what esports means

but ultimately esports is more specific than "competitive gaming" because historically it's involved trying to build the next NFL/NBA/FIFA through extremely unsustainable spending with hyperbolic growth projections, and building a product that's meant to be consumed rather than sustaining a community for people to participate in. It's a bit different now because it's generally the publishers/developers running it for their own games instead of third parties organizing events.

the FGC will be esports when Ono starts talking about how Evo will be bigger than the stanley cup in 10 years, the FGC isn't esports because their commentators now wear ties.

You do realize other sports have fouls and penalties for shit like that right?

I do and more often than not it sucks. Some really memorable moments in sports are of disrespect, like when TO danced on the Star or when CJ jumped into the Dawg Pound. And now that shit won't fly at all in the NFL after they banned all TD celebrations.

Point is, players shouldn't be stripped of having personality or be forced into having a friendly personality. As long as it doesn't get too personal, or even in the worst case violent, i don't see why players cant act the way they want as long as it is in the context of the rules. And i say this as someone who thinks throwing the shirt on poongko was dumb and over the line.

FGW | Triggered by Shirts

I know that you meant this as a joke but this is usually not that funny and it's pretty mean-spirited towards people that actually do have triggers. Can you not use it in the future? It's been a pet-peeve a mine for awhile and it actually reminded me that I needed to bring it up.

Edit: I should say, can we not use it in the future? lol

I couldn't figure out how to throw initially because I kept trying that! :P

Game is actually pretty fun though.

I agree with the theory that the base characters are bland looking so that you'll buy better looking cosmetic upgrades.

I do believe that people are adult enough to take things in good fun. Saltiness was awesome to see from Poongko... So yeah, I don't see any problem with what happened. The way I see it you're just being picky about the issue. I sure if Poongko got offended with that he would just throw the towel into the ground and keep playing.

Was just thinking that if you could blow a bar of v gauge to Roman cancel normals or specials on hit the combo system in 5 would be infinitely more interesting. Also there would be more interesting resource management because you would have to decide whether that bar is better used for an alpha counter, cancel or saved up for trigger. At this stage in the game which is admittedly day -180 the v gauge is just forgotten about till it's v trigger time.

It a a pointless exercise but whatever

In MMA/Boxing they don't.

This just happened in the Arena league- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_fv_v-1_gs. People love this stuff. The "No Fun League" gets that nickname for a reason. (They don't want things running into their precious commercial time.)

There is a degree of etiquette when it comes to all sports. For example this was changed from a disqualification to Heath Herring to a no contest because the other fighter crossed the line first. Now, I think showboating should be okay, you're not hurting anyone. Physical contact though is something everyone probably wants to avoid (besides instigators of course) since if punches are thrown due to boundaries being crossed, TOs don't want to be liable for that crap. The shirt on Poongko wouldn't have started a fight though, but it's still pretty nasty and would get a lot of people pissed, it's someone's sweaty ass shirt that you don't know where he has been, especially in Vegas and the fact that Evola is a thing lol.

I believe the UFC also fines it's players for things that breach their etiquette and morals. IIRC the Nate Diaz (or was it Nick, can't remember too well) was fined for having weed in his system, but I don't remember if he technically was in a state where medical marijuana was illegal or the fact it shouldn't give him an advantage in a fight. It's just that the UFC wants to be drug-free with its image.

edit: Well I found this about Nate Diaz being fined. 3 Month suspension and a $20,000 fine for saying gay slurs.

Was messing around on the PC version of SF4 on keyboard layout last night while I wait for my Hitbox to arrive... I should have bought one a long time ago. I hope they get a PS4 version up soon. May look into converting my PS4 TE2 into a Hitbox layout in the meantime.
