Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

I'm hawking the server status so I can get in and stay in hopefully. I just want to play more matches. Training mode is fun for 10 minutes to get down some combos but I want to body more people with Nash.

I wouldn't be surprised if I don't get a single match in before this beta ends.

Granted I only give the "press any button" about 10 minutes before I decide it's not worth my time, but still. Training mode isn't even an incentive for me to keep trying, personally.

They've already said they're extending it for the full 5 days when the login and matchmaking code is stable.

Why? out of curiosity.

The game feels completely different than anything released under the street fighter name in the last decade. The time I spent training was quite eye opening and made me get a good feel for the game.

Exclusive information:

Only Germany can play today jawohl just go to sleep rest of the world nice very nice gute Nacht.

you gotta take that labwork and try it out for realsies at some point. i'm itchin to try what i practiced in training mode in the wild some more.

I wish the training mode had the option to record and playback.

Then I could practice Ryu's parry timing, optimal punishes, etc.

I wish I had more time in training mode last night. I feel like mkx has upped my footsie game tremendously, I just got to know more stuff, this game will by hype when its released. And its so hard doing combos on pad

just want one solid afternoon session of games

Agreed. I played 2 games so far, one disconnected towards the end. But actually fighting people in this game is a ton of fun, especially now that I have some more and better Nash combos under my belt.

It would be cool for about 5-10 minutes, but then I'd just want to play a match. Personally, I like to learn by playing against other people, not a training dummy. And from what I've seen from the streams I've checked on, even if you get in, you spend the majority of the time just waiting in training mode. You can't even switch characters without risking being booted out, I mean c'mon, lmao.

I'm happy people are psyched to just grind it out in training mode, but that does nothing for me.

I mean it's been what, 3 days already? I'm not even sure it'll get stable

But it's nice to have the freedom to style instead of doing max dmg. It can get into your opponent's head when you want to make a statement. Also, maximizing dmg potential for combos was a lot of fun in SF4.

I really think limiting combo systems is going to shorten the lifespan on the game. It limits the amount of freedom of expression for the player, but hopefully it's not as shallow as it feels now.

Wait until ppl figure out the game. Ryu for example will have denjin setups and also a better grasp on what/when to parry.

Sure it will. Long time between now and 2016 :).

People need to chill.

I'm not talking about the full game, lol.

I'm just saying, I can't think of a beta I participated in where I couldn't even get in a game 3 days later, though I might have a mental block about some painful past beta experience that I refuse to recall.

The last hour or so of the last session worked really well when they had a lot of capacity. Most people in the US got in without issue and matches were being found super quick.

I think the next one will be totally open US, then if that survives, back to open.

Point is there's a huge amount of time between now and when it releases. We'll get our 5 days...as has been said..over and over and over....

Wondering why people want Ryu's donkey kick back so much. Does it bring anything to the table he doesn't have, or just that it's a cool-looking move?

Definitely looks cool as hell, that's my main reason. But also, combo potential. That said, he still feels complete as is to me. Just a no-nonsense Ryu more than ever.

but i want it nooooooowwwwwwwww
i really do want it now :(

EX Donkey Kick would give him a wall bounce. That's something worth having.

Plus it's cool looking.

Hm, at 15:57 Ken is at 1 pixel and the blocked super from Nash didn't kill him. I thought supers could actually kill through chip damage in this game. What happened?

Nash's super doesn't do any damage at the start of his super. He only does damage during the full cinematic.

i couldnt find any real reset potential w/ ryu. nothing was juggleable without an ex special afaik. anyone see anything otherwise?

Don't think so. I don't think he'd have anything, even if they included the side kick. Game would be completely different if it had the 3s juggle system.

I don't think designing the entire game engine around the few people who want to "style" is a good idea. A tighter, more focused play experience will benefit more players than a lengthy combo-crazy game, which would only satisfy a very specific portion of the FG audience.

Yet, people still play ST to this day.

When you play SF4, most people generally do the same combos in regular play. Just watch the average tourney match. Watch the average online match.
Most 'expression' comes from how you lead UP to those combos. Your movement, your strategy, your space control, your aggression, your defense.

Anyways, there's still plenty of combo 'expression' in SF5. The linking system is pretty versatile, allowing all sorts of strings on the ground. I was surprised as how much stuff links into other stuff with Chun. It's just not going to be about length any more...at least not with the currently revealed characters.

Just bought USFIV PS4 to fill my fighting game hunger now...

Fuck you Capcom.

Yes...I just said fuck you and gave you money.
