Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

Some characters need to jump over projectiles, too. An openign from a jumping attack can lead to big damage.
cr is for crouching.

But why do they need to jump over the projectiles? Can't they just block and take a little bit of hit? Or maybe it can cause big damage if one jumps over the projectile and lands an air attack on the opponent?

Yeah the Max thing can't be luck. Dude had no issues getting in repeatedly.

Max wasn't just getting in, he was having tons of matches too. You have some people who haven't even got into training yet Max can play hours at a time, servers get reset, and then he's back in after about 5 minutes of trying.

He even said "Someone must be helping me out" last night.

I didn't play a single match (or training) since the BETA started.

You aren't alone. It really sucks but, yeah. Every so often I'll check this thread and try to get on for a half hour or so then I walk away for awhile. Not wasting my entire weekend staring at a title screen.

And fr is Forward?

I have learned a lot of things in regards to Street Fighter today. Now I'm just waiting to get beat up like no other, when I can get online.

In Street Fighter IV it felt like I could only do normal kicks and punches, as I just randomly pressed buttons.

Yeah.

Watch this video ,it will get you started on Nash.

6 matches (4-2)
about 2 hours of training

Or maybe it can cause big damage if one jumps over the projectile and lands an air attack on the opponent?

Exactly. You don't want to get too predictable with your fireball bame when playing Ryu for instance,as you can get punished hard if you're read.

I got around 40 mins of training, 4 matches (well 3 and a half, got disconnected in the middle of the second round of the last one). Using a US account from Paris.

If Max is on the whitelist, then a bunch of people in this thread must be as well considering so many were getting in extremely fast after being kicked out several times in a row last night.

I honestly dont care either way. They'd be smart to whitelist him though so people could at least watch the game being played and ask questions.

Don't play much street fighter, but aren't jumps usually punished by anti-airs/dp? If you jump a lot isn't it more detrimental? As a spectator I always thought the game was usually on the floor.

A jump with the right distance/height can bypass some anti air attacks... Also if your adversary is defending etc it will be harder for them to do the anti air. So it depends on the presure, flow, adversaries position and action... But yeah you can be punished by trying to cross up

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I'll keep practicing! Street Fighter community is pretty awesome!

You are playing against people who probably played the crap out of SFIV for the most part, so you are lagging behind. :p

Heck, I didn't really bother to play SFIV since vanilla (and a little bit of SSFIV) and jumped back on USFIV recently and my win rate is sitting at 17%. XD I'm adapting fast to how people approach the game in 2015 or dealing with so many matchup. Even so, I'm dropping a lot of game just so my muscle memory can adapt and adjust to how people play.

Playing with Ryu, I'm worried about Ken not having a parry of some sort. It seems kinda integral to a shoto to have some type of defensive option, since, well, everyone knows how to defend against a shoto.

Maybe Ken's V-skill should have been a roll to dance around FB or something or does he actually have a zoning game that makes up for him not parrying? I know his V-trigger makes his FB flames and it knocks down, but no one has said anything about the speed/recovery/damage of his FB game, and I'm wondering if you can just spam c.lp or something to get out of his run mix-ups. Really wish he was in the beta, but I can honestly say, Ken/Ryu will likely be my two main characters. I can consistently do high damage with Ryu, and feels he only needs Donkey kick back and he's perfect. Ken I really like, but certainly need to play with first, I'm not sold on step kick being integrated into his V-skill but he at least looks as fast as Cammy.

Thoughts? What tier would everyone fit in right now? Just playing around here fellas, I need we need the experts to frame data/unlock character potential.

45-60 Minutes Training
6-7 Matches

North Carolina - East Coast US

Most of that came during last night about 11 or so hours ago when matches came back to back.

For me, From france, US code, with my euro psn :

near 30 min, 1 match

with my us psn :

near 40 min, 6 match, be disconnect at the end of the last one.

I think, Capcom need to continue this one, look how work, witch error they have and schedule one new next month or end of august, time to fix all bugs.

everyone asking/posting about match ratio, you should know that they definitely made some serverside changes ~3:30 AM EDT (bout an hour before the servers went down for maintenance). The matchmaking was dramatically improved...like you legitimately got no time to actually practice anymore in training mode. Some quotes:

Definitely getting some matches now.

got 3 in 15 mins

has the promised day arrived friends?

Sweet, same here and actually getting matches in now!

Nooooo I'm getting matches while training with my worst character :( . My Bison keeps getting bodied.

3-2 baby.

And the matches are indeed coming in on the regular. The Capgods didn't abandon us after all.

Hopefully this + increased server capacity means fun beta times? Imagine a world where everybody was on the whitelist.
