Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

Beta. Beeeetttttaaaaa. Not demo.

Goddamn some people.

I think companies do have to take some heat as they keep hyping these up as a big deal. Play early! But at the same time, it is for fixing shit.

What he's speaking of is the concept, done for the grade system this time.

^ That is what he's talking about, and that's not this:

I wonder why they didn't just pick a time like 4:00 AM to begin with. That way, there wouldn't be a MILLION people trying to log on at once. It would just gradually get more players as people wake up.

Well, they chose 3am for Europe...
You can't choose "night time" for a worldwide thing. :)

This is actually exactly what a beta is for. People who are seriously complaining about this besides the "Meh, I stayed up for this" are delusional. These are the kind of issues you want to iron out before release. I swear people treat betas to be some sort of exclusive early access nowdays.

Well, 90% of "alphas" and "betas" nowadays are demos of the actual product. Just glorified as limited access. All assets are final and everything will be the same when the game launches 1 month from the "beta".

A legit beta would be a broken mess with missing textures and placeholder visual elements. This is a good sign that they actually started to do these online betas for SF5 a year before the game launches.

what about server side stuff that they're testing?

does locked assets etc mean that its not a beta if they're stress testing servers?

Hmm, good point. Yeah i guess the Beta -term is ok at that point. Dunno what else you could call a public release candidate test version.

People should be told it's just a network test and not give us that "all assets are not final" and give people hope in expecting big changes for the release.

It's a beta. Doesn't that cover nearly everything that could go wrong outside of it bricking systems? This seems like a best case scenario, as this was clearly an issue that needed to be fixed but was unknown. Just seems like a beta doing what a beta is supposed to do, preorder bonus or not.

I guess people got used to it that betas are more demos than testing objects.

It's not only the fault from people, sometimes the devs/publishers hype "betas" up who are a month before release. They then don't really change that much then for the release. So they rather seem like demos or a free trial period for some.

Good thing I have another 4 hours before I get home from work. If that wasn't the case I would probably be as sad as you guys sitting in front of my console trying play the game.

The thing is, better to have problems now during the beta than when the game launches. You should see that as a positive.
