Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

The textures on Nash's hair/face/everywere are straight-up lower res in the beta pic. Maybe there's some mipmapping bug, I dunno.

I don't see it, any quality you might be able to discern is washed out by the image compression / effect overlapping the screen

Technique, Attack, Defense, I guess.

I think nobody knows how that works. I guess you'll be able to customize some of your fighter's properties in the final game? Eh, I dunno bout that.
You're probably looking at a post-game scoring system.

Well if you don't see it you don't see it. Compression is not great though, I agree.

Try me. Specifically what part of the hair? The biggest visual difference between the two I see is the widow's peak area, but that just looks like the exaggerated lighting in the second shot hitting the normal map harder, wouldn't even have to do with the textures

Looks like it tracks your attack, defense and technique over a long time. No clue what each one could mean. Maybe technique covers v-skill use. Defense reversals and life lead. Offense aggression and combos.

Can somebody explain the "16er"-thing to me?
When Street Fighter IV released in 2009, it ushered in a new generation of players. They became referred to as "09er" - usually as an insult, like "Ugh, typical of an 09er". This game will also bring new blood to the fighting game community, but Enzo is trying to add a positive spin on what will almost certainly become a meme. If you are starting fighting games with SFV, you are starting in 2016, and are thus a "16er".

So it doesn't work, huh?

Edit: Maintenance, I see.

@Capcom_UK: Morning. The #StreetFighterV beta is currently down for maintenance. We'll update you on @Capcom_UK when it's back up and running!

The symbols on this pic are actually different from the pre-fight screen... But thanks!

Damn. I am a 94er then.

I feel old..

Ofc NOW the loading screen comes up while it's down for maintenance yet it's nearly impossible to connect when the servers are up, they really made a horrible first impression with this beta.

It takes forever when the servers are up, because it tries to connect 'til it times out. When they're off the game gets a handshake that they're down and it doesn't try forever.
Some of you shouldn't compare "betas" that take place a month before release, with this, which isn't going to release for at least 7 more month.

Good thing I didn't try to stay up all night to try this. I hope I can try to get a few matches after work and before the scheduled daily maintenance, which is, lucky me, just when I have a little free time to play the game :/

The Technique/Offense/Defense chart is just that "power level" system you see in every marvel handbook. Japan loves it.

Don't believe so. At least not the graph that's been posted on this page. That is more likely just the same as SF4's AAA system after each match, but in graph form instead.

What you're talking about has its own seperate graph for that, and that is shown at character select. Or at least it was in the E3 matches.

Let's go 93ers.

What is this shit? SF2 came out in '91. You aren't a true old-schooler if you weren't playing from day one. You could even argue that the truly old-school started with Karate Champ or Yie Ar Kung-Fu.

.

What he's speaking of is the concept, done for the grade system this time.

So I stayed awake till 3.30am last night and servers were down, went to bed then woke up just now and they still down, has it been able to connect at any point for people?

I got on for about 20-25 minutes before but it was just training. I don't think anyone has played an actual match online.
