Five Nights at Freddy's 4 arrives next month

Thanks – but what the heck is "multi-tasking gameplay"

What's the actual mechanic?

I'd consider it akin to something like an RTS or a tower defense game where you are stuck in one spot managing something. Part of what makes it good is that you are stuck in one place with only a few means to defend yourself, and multiple things coming after you.

For instance, in the first game each of the animatronics behave differently, so you have to learn to check certain things on the cameras, turn on lights, close doors, etc. The reason they say "multi-tasking gameplay" is the fact that you can actually only do one of these things at a time. You can't look at the room where Foxy is hiding while checking to see if any of the other animatroncis are waiting outside and you are inches away from death.

Next step is Five Nights at Star Wars Cantina?
This guy is turning into Rovio. But then again, who wouldn't if they one successful game. Lets make 20 of them!

Can't wait for this. Those teasers so far look terrifying. Wonder what all those demonic animatronics really are. Also, I hope that this game answers all the mysteries of the series, but I kinda doubt it. Just too many to answer.

I look forward to watching Markiplier play through this. They seem very specifically made for Let's Plays, kinda like Goat Simulator. I feel like I get more of an experience out of watching it be played, and gradually having the lore pulled apart over the weeks following, than I would playing it myself.

Honestly, I'm far more excited to see the Markiplier play through than anything else.

This... Have no intention of playing any of the games, but am hyped as hell to watch him play the final game

The trailer is here

This one takes place in a house?

And... you can move around?

I'm in the camp of I enjoy these games for the story behind it all. This looks like toys based on the animatronics, weird and can't wait to see how it connects

Really smart of him to release these as regularly as he does. Gotta cash in on this when it's still as popular as it is with streamers.

This trailer raises so many questions. Who are you controlling? Why are you inside a house? Where in the storyline does this take place?

If we're not inside a pizzeria anymore, then are we still going to get phone calls at the beginning of a night?

I'm surprised part three still hasn't been bundled. It seemed like the first two were bundled very quickly after they were released.

I have a feeling you're playing as the Purple Man during his childhood. I think this game will explain why he became a murderer judging by the last teaser image that Scott released.

It'd be interesting to see how Scott explains that if it turns out true. What if this is the Purple Guys son? Plenty of serial killers led normal lives, would explain how he kept hidden for so long..

Nice theory! Maybe it is his son!

Apparently some people have found the number "1982" in the source code of the last teaser image. Could that be when this game takes place? Maybe this was around the time of the first pizzeria and you're controlling the murderer's son. And that's why these nightmare animatronics are trying to kill you, since your father killed the children that are possessing them.

That would be an interesting scenario for the game.

Day 1. (When I say Day 1, I mean buying it but watching other people play it Day 1.)

No-no-no, in set in a house? Things jumping out of cupboards? Nooooooooooooo. Nopenopenope.

If we do play as the murderer's son, then they could do voice mails from him every night.

Even if the games are simple it's still impressive that a small developer manages to release 4 games within a year and all the 3 that were released were a success.

Steam has a FNAF franchise pack for $19.99.

RIP every children toys after playing this game, good for Duracell bateries

Imagine if those animatronics were running on Energizers. 6 AM wouldn't stop them, they would just keep going and going and going....

I'm not gonna watch that trailer, but I'm happy to see that there is more coming up! :)

That's actually a cool idea for a Spin-off! A Survival Game where you and a couple of other people are in a City / Island /whatever and have to fight off the Animatronics who become somewhat weaker at Day but are insanely powerful at night. And on top of that you have to help to take care of everyone by finding food, building shelters, and so on...

I think that sounds cool!

I'm starting to think it is his son.
Maybe they succeed in killing him, and he went back to the restaurant in FNAF3 to get revenge on the things that killed his son.

Yeah, that could be possible.

I still wonder when those minigames took place in FNAF 3? I know that it was in the FNAF 1 establishment, but was it after the place closed down or before?

Man these theories are getting crazy dark, so much that I love it! August can't come soon enough.
Also isn't it funny that we're getting horror games on August (FNAF4 n Until Dawn) and not on October and now I'm finding out that were getting Black Friday-like deal on July?! WHAT IS GOING ON!

Yeah, that could be possible.

Some point after FNAF1, long enough that the restaurant has become so decrepit that rain seeps through the ceiling. I'm guessing possibly 2, 3 months after FNAF1?

Yeah it definitely seems like it takes place after FNAF 1. Game Theory seemed to suggest that it takes place right before Mike Schmidt started working there, but who knows?

Man, I really want to check these games out, but I cant handle jump scares. Creeping dread and tension is great, but fuck jump scares. I especially like the look of 4, reminds me of Among The Sleep

Since the game features "nightmare" version of the animatronics, i thought this game would be about the purple guy's (controlled by the player) own hell in the afterlife

Oddly enough, you can find out everything about the "lore" without having to ever play the game. Huh.

This is almost certainly why they're so popular.

Modern games marketing is fucking weird. It's like you just build a memetic community and then wait for the sales to happen on their own as opposed to getting people interested in playing your product. FNAF has earned a ludicrous amount of sales from people who buy the games and then never play them - including here on GAF - instead opting to watch other people do it for them.
