Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

Well, from what I've heard the game is a nice graphical improvement over Forza Motorsport 5.
No doubt. Trying to watch all the direct feed stuff I can get my hands on.

And with Forza Rewards goodies that means I'll be putting in some quality time on Forza 5 and Horizon 2 before Forza 6 drops - to reacclimate myself to the driving model and put some extra points on the board for those Forza 6 rewards.

Haha, I was playing Horizon the other day and trying to get 300 cars in my garage and I got a notice that Zorbs was also playing. Seems like everyone is trying to get that done before Forza 6 hits.

It is going to take a while though, I can only do about 50 at most before I get too bored to go on.

Its a really smart program. The more it sinks its hooks in you the first time, the more it sinks its hooks into you the next. Am Tier 6 now which is good enough for the stuff I've seen on the rewards page that I really wanted, but Tier 7 isn't so far away. Might as well top it off, right? ;p

I think it was on sale about a month ago.

I guess I missed it then. I check once in a while (once a week probably) and I haven't seen it on sale yet. I got my Xbox One in February.

I'm just shy of Tier 7 myself. They've done a really good job with the rewards program minus linking token purchases to points, that's a bit cheeky.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but did we ever get some clarification on the new tire compounds?

They seem to be referenced in the context of various new OEM tires Turn 10 had to model for many of the vintage cars, not necessarily hard or soft compounds we can select in the upgrade shop like in FM2.

Helios and/or BADNED, I call upon thee!

Well, from what I've heard the game is a nice graphical improvement over Forza Motorsport 5. The problem is that Forza continues to improve image quality up until launch... so we really don't know how it will look when it finally comes out.

Remember that after Forza 5's E3 they even increased the car count from 12 to 16 before release.

That definitely was the case , but from what I remember the graphics were definitely dwngraded from what was shown at e3 and then the final product

Definitely not, there were 3D crowds and some extra effects but the final release featured higher polygon-count environment and more cars on track.

The version of the game shown at E3 2013 also was running on Xbox One units.

I wonder if they will ever release that phone app they talked about back in the day. The app was going to let you tune cars away from your console and then try them when you got back on.

E3 2013 demo situation is very clear now. They rushed to show it at E3. There was only one car on track, lot of pop-in on mirrors, pop-in on scenario, lighting was different, 3d crowd.

They didn't released any proper DF footage. Just replay at 720p.

At Gamescom they already showed the laguna seca demo with some changes.

Horizon 2 they already released DF footage at E3. Same with FM6 this year.

I swear I keep refreshing this thread every 5 minutes in hopes of new game play or content.

I can't fucking wait.

Anyone know if there are any substantial updates to the community / livery aspect of things? I haven't read or heard anything.

Yep same here. Haven't been this excited about a racing game since Gran Turismo 3 for PS2.

it's Beautiful!!

The last part gave me the chills the first time I saw it.

According to the racing game guy from GT Trailers, we shouldn't be excited because Forza is made on a bi-annual cycle and we already knew it was coming....

What kind of crap is that?

Known quantities aren't sexy, even if they're quality.

I'd take the Forza iteration cycle over waiting years and years for a single attempt at a magnum opus with every generation. It works, its just less dramatic.

I'm not excited for Zelda because I knew they'll be another Zelda.

I'm not excited for Uncharted 4 because I knew it'd be done.

Gears 4? Knew that aswell.

Shenmue 3? Well Yu Suzuki had to find a way eventually, so who cares.

Final Fantasy 7? Well people moaned enough, so I knew it would come. Not exciting at all.

The Last Guardian? Why should I be excited? They said they are working on it for years anyway.

Just because you know something is coming doesn't mean you can't be excited for it. Honestly it isn't a completely known quantity. There will be brand new tracks, new cars, upgraded physics, weather, night racing and more.

EDIT- I'm too tired for jokes damnit!

I agree, and I'm personally excited for Forza 6, mostly because its more Forza. Just trying to explain the view of the press as I interpret it. More of a good thing isn't as sexy news as truly disruptive new features or something completely out of left field.

Honestly, I'm less excited about unknown games...

For instance, Recore, it has my interest but I'm not as excited for it as I am for games that I knew were coming.

Knowing that you know what you're going to get is exciting too, I know Forza is going to be a very fun and solid racing game.

I'm like 90% sure he's joking.

LOL, I'm getting tired... sorry.

EDIT- Removed the watermark.

I'm more impressed by that tyre wall falling apart when hit then the puddle acting like ice lol.

Must be a pretty dull life to only let unexpected things excite you.

I knew Fallout 4 was coming but I'm still as excited as a fat kid in a candy store over it.

I was joking haha.

Forza 6?! OMG! I got 11,654 Reward points so far! I'll be happy to get to 14,500!

Super Mario Maker?! Just gimme that shit through a straw!

I'm super excited for Shenmue 3, even if I have my doubts. The first 2 did a lot to change my 7-9 year old self and inspired me more than any other game!

I hate you so much for the 11,654 reward points :P.

I hate Turn 10 for the Auction Achievement in Forza 2...

...and for not giving me the Connoisseur (One of each Manufacturer) achievment for Forza 3...

...and saying I have 4/5 DLC in Forza Horizon 1 when I clearly bought the Season Pass AND Rally Expansion...

...and for Forza 5's poor attempt at a Career Mode...

...but I love them enough to forgive them. :D

Just think of it this way. He ain't getting to tier 8 either.

Lol, I found it funny how I was Tier 7 before I barely touched Horizon 2 because I had the Season Pass. :D

Only reason I meant back to the old Forzas last year was to give myself a challenge before I got an Xbox One.

Saw that FM6 has a toggle for rewind and read here that it could be toggled in FM5 but damned if I can find it.

Its a toggle in FH2 but I believe it is locked in 5

Also Dan describes the puddles as way more complex than turning it into low traction events. They have their own studied and valued physics that react much like real puddles including the possibility of dipping one tire in on a turn to aid in pivoting around corner due to resistance.

Crazy stuff

Yep. I remember the interview. Also, when they were learning more about the physics to complete their simulation module, they got to the point where even the experts didn't know it well enough. Even the information from the books they had were contradicting each other so the only way to find the answers they sought for was to become the experts themselves.

I went back to Forza 3 and realised I only had ~130 cars in garage, so I'm in the process of buying 170 Chrysler Eagle Talon's(5,000cr)...lol. The process is a lot quicker in the older games at least.

Holy shit though, the car handling in Forza 3 is worse than I remember...they've come a long way in that regard for sure.

I don't have my Xbox 360 anymore... hopefully they will put Forza 2-4 to the backwards compatible list before Forza 6 launches.

The best thing about the Forza series? It's fucking rock solid. Bullet proof 60 fps. Zero bugs. Can't fucking wait for a consistent racing experience.

:/

Just so you know, this sort of stuff isn't exclusive to Forza in terms of racing games, it just depends on what platform you insist on playing on :) . Plenty of experiences like it to be had on a variety of games on the PC in terms of framerate and stability.

Helios, can you clarify race lengths on the main races of the career mode (non-endurance/showdown events)? Will we have the option to modify the length of races?

Heh I did the same thing the other day but with VW Rabbits (since you can buy one in like 4 button taps an 10 sec).

I wanted to do the same thing with FM4 but I barely played it so I don't have enough money... Oh well.

I'm also short in FM5 but It's taking WAAAYYYYY too long to buy a car in that game, I'm not gonna do that 200+ times.

Haven't checked the Horizons yet.

I need to go back and do some of that myself haha. I'm currently at about 3.2M credits at tier 7. Need moar.

So yeah, the trick to buy a lot of cars super quickly in FM3.

-Go to the "Buy Car" menu option
-Hit A to enter the garage
-Hit LB to go to the magnifying glass button all the way to the left
-Mash A a couple of times until you hit a loading screen
-Rince and repeat

I bought something like 210 VW Rabbit in 25min.

I'm so glad I don't buy many cars, I only have a small amount of money coming my way, and that's how I want it. Getting money in FM5 was way to easy.

Xbox section on IGN (and gaming sites in general) having been losing attention every year. That`s what happens.

lol.. 3 runners'up as multi-platform. The two best games on PS4 wasn't playable, and of course they are exclusives.

Only 3 games on WiiU?

edit: dIdn't saw any Turn10 tweet about awards either. Looks like all journos ignored the XB1 this year?

It's a racing game that just looks like another forza to many people and a game like cuphead did look great. They flew by forza in the presentation too.

Yep, they only gave it a few minutes to make sure we could get 10 minutes of Tomb Raider: Press Forward and QTE Edition during the conference.

Baffling.

It's not like they brought down an entire fucking car(half a million dollar prototype) down from the ceiling or anything... or had one of the Ford family on stage.

Haha and we should get excited about that because...? As nice as the new Ford GT is, last time I checked it doesn't come with the game. We also knew about that partnership from when the game was announced so all in all stunts like that are going to leave people pretty unmoved at this stage. And what exactly does the Ford guy being on stage add to anything? It's a games conference, not the Geneva motorshow.

My point is, they didn't show/talk about the game as much as they should. All they had was a trailer. It would have been nice to see some sort of gameplay demonstration, especially on the new stuff like the puddles and how night racing affects things. How about the new things they are doing with the career mode? Or any other new additions/features etc? That would have impressed people a lot more and built some excitement rather than the current reaction of "oh there's another Forza game, right on schedule".

Cut the fluff, cut the bullshit marketing that only benefits Ford and just show us the fucking game.

Also, I would say Forza Motorsports is a mature, well-known franchise, that's more niche and likely to sell less than the likes of a mainstream title like TR. That and it's not surprising to me that they spent less time on Forza given how brilliant and laden with content MS's conference was overall.

That being said, I have no idea what Forza's sales numbers have been in the past, I don't pay much attention to them, I'm sure they're outstanding.

I don't think sales have ever been anything special, especially compared to gran tourismo, but MS must be happy to keep making them.

You saying Microsoft doesn't care about Forza is more than disproved by the fact that they did have probably one of only two production prototypes on stage.
