Do we still believe in what Sakurai says at this point? lol
Well, to the point that we expect him to say crazy things and do impossible guest characters for Smash, yes. Kind of sad that Ryu got leaked, but awesome to see they used the SSF2 opening for his trailer.

Finally got through the eshop. There is a bundle for 20 bucks with everything announced today. 30 if you want both versions.

Figured someone should make a summary thread!

Lucas launches, as you know. Roy / Ryu were confirmed. Roy @ $3.99, Ryu @ $5.99 with Bundled Castle Stage [These are available "now", which means when the Eshop stops crashing]

This art was created by the original Street Fighter artist I think?

Heihachi Mii Fighter costume was confirmed. Virtua Fighter costumes as well.

Tournament Mode will launch in August.

Ryu / Roy Amiibos are launching at some point in the future.

New wave of Amiibos this fall including Duck Hunt Dog, and an interchangeable Mr. Game & Watch with several poses.

Dream Land 64 Stage confirmed. Working on Hyrule castle and...I believe the original Donkey Kong stage (can't remember!). Edit: Its Peach's Castle stage. Thanks Cody!

Mii Verse stage is free.

Eshop is deader than a deer in front of a semi.

The Ryu poster is referencing the original SFII poster Akiman drew when SFII originally was released.

Seems like Ryu is what Sakurai always says he hates and tries to avoid about Smash and the hardcore. Right + B for hadouken but then down to right for special hardcore hadouken. Then adding in the OG Street Fighter II movesets for advanced versions of his other moves. Definitely making it more complicated and geared toward the advanced player.

Got into the eShop finally, and it looks like there are bundles for everything. Why didn't they talk about this in the Direct? It's $21 for everything just on one platform, which I believe is about $5 cheaper than if you bought everything individually.

Of course, I error out before I can purchase anything, but still it's nice to see.

Sakurai said they wouldn't be adding many more retro stages which is different than no more (after Hyrule Castle and Peach's Castle 64). I think you can hope for more stages in the future, just not like 10-20

Now.

Im confused? How many DLC characters are rhey releasing and stages?

Today, they're releasing three characters (Roy, Lucas, and Ryu), three stages (Miiverse is free in the Wii U patch, Dreamland 64 for both systems, and Ryu's stage comes bundled with him), along with a smattering of Mii Fighter costumes and accessories. We got a heads up on Hyrule Castle 64 and Peach's Castle as forthcoming levels, but no news about any future characters.

No, it caters to the Street Fighter fan !

Already looking forward to not being able to get any of the amiibos I want from the September wave just like I wasn't able to from the last wave. Thanks Nintendo.

Ryu is super rad though. I like Smash but even after 100 hours in it I still just couldn't quite find a character that clicked at all for me or really get the hang of the feel of the game and movement. This makes Ryu enticing to me, but it also totally makes me that asshole lol. I'm assuming everything is going to be Ryu online for a while.

It sucks Tourneys are so far off. I really want something like the MK8 thing where we can just have a GAF one set up 24/7 and just go there and automatically be put into a 1v1 3 stock match, items off on a level of our choosing.

That would be devastating. The Wii U version especially is missing in stages. At least add a handful of Melee stages.

Yeah as fun as characters are, this game already has a stellar character line up.

I've felt that the stage list is really lacking a good chunk of small non-walkoff stages, which is essentially what core smash stages should feel like. (imo)

Hearing him say we might only get 2 more after this patch is really painful. :|

£27 for a bunch of mii costumes, 2 vets and a single newcomer.

That's basically what I paid for the base game.

And twice what I paid to get a 50% increase of content for MK8.

lol. How can anyone justify buying this stuff at this price?

edit: Thinking about what I'm saying, "paid for the base game"isn't really true since I'm comparing 2 games dlc to one games price, but whatever. It's still absurd.

Because they understand how fighting game development works. This is a tired argument at this point. The pricing on the fighters is no different then any other fighting game character DLC.

Dreamland 64 over Fountain of Dreams and Peach's Castle 64 instead of Saffron City? Bleh, I'll probably skip the DLC stages.

Ryu looks like the single most lovingly designed character in the series thus far, and this is a series where a majority of the cast is done justice. I genuinely lost my shit when I saw the parry and the FADC. I love how Smash has grown from a celebration of Nintendo to a celebration of video games altogether.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: I fucking love videogames mayne
