From the in-game tips:

Move / Tip

Hadoken

A projectile from a world-class fighting game. Hold down the button to vary how fast it travels. It’ll disappear after a set distance.

Hadoken

Input the commands from the original series to increase the Hadoken’s power. Use it in midair to make Ryu glide slightly.

Hadoken

Quickly input down, down-forward, forward for 1.25x power. You might have to practice a bit to really figure out howtodo a Hadoken.

Hadoken

Input back, down-back, down, down-forward, forward to unleash a fiery Shakunetsu Hadoken that can deal multiple hits.

Shoryuken

When you enter the original commands, Ryu is momentarily invincible, the move is stronger and looks different…and his shout even changes!

Shoryuken

Input the commands from the original series to become invincible until the move is complete. The move needs no recovery time after landing.

Shoryuken

Input forward, down, down-forward for 1.2x attack power. Think you can pull it off? SURE YOU CAN!

Tatsumaki Senpukyaku

Ryu will float up slightly when using this move after a jump, making this spinning side kick great for recovering.

Tatsumaki Senpukyaku

Input the commands from the original series to power up the attack. One thing to remember: you can’t use it repeatedly in midair.

Tatsumaki Senpukyaku

Enter down, down-back, back for 1.16x power. Increasing the strength also increases the move’s speed and travel distance.

Focus Attack

Ryu will hold his stance until you release the button or a certain amount of time has passed. Then he’ll unleash the punch.

Focus Attack

By turning the opposite way the moment Ryu punches, he will strike in that direction instead.

Focus Attack

Hitting an opponent with the fully charged version of this move will make them slowly crumple. Time for a follow-up attack!

Focus Attack

You can cancel this move by pressing left or right twice quickly, either while charging or right after the punch connects.

Focus Attack

Ryu can take one hit while readying for this move. This is true until right before he attacks, even when charging the move to maximum power.

Side Smash Attack

Ryu steps forward and unleashes his Joudan Sokutogeri. The tip of his foot is the strongest part, but it won’t hit a small crouching enemy.

Strong Down Attack (Strong)

You might have seen this kick in the original games. Just like in those, you can cancel the move after striking by going straight into a special.

Strong Down Attack (Strong)

Hold down the attack button while crouching to use this move. You can cancel it into a special even if the foe is shielding, but only if you hit.

Strong Down Attack (Weak)

Use this attack by crouching and tapping the attack button. If you hit a downed opponent with it, you’ll knock them back to their feet.

Strong Side Attack (Strong)

Keep up the pressure on a guarding enemy with Ryu’s Collarbone Breaker, a double hit that’s good for shield breaking.

Up Air Attack

This uppercut hits the enemy twice and has a deceptively large range. It’s fairly easy to hit enemies directly over you.

Front Air Attack

Hitting an enemy with Ryu’s foot has higher launch power, while his upper leg is perfect for shield breaking. It’s a good move for combos.

Down Air Attack

This is the only attack in Ryu’s arsenal that has a meteor effect. If it hits, your victim will fly diagonally downward.

Upward Throw

This move kicks a grabbed opponent straight upward. As Ryu brings his leg back down, he’ll hit anyone else unlucky enough to be in the way.

"Focus-Attack-Dash-Cancel" In SFIV a focus attack is a charged move that be cancelled with a dash. It can be used to cancel special attacks into any super, jab, Special, ultra anything.
This character is going to be amazing.

Sweet.

Most technical Smash character ever?

If you look behind the stage, you might see a Bronto Burt or King Dedede. Of course, if Dedede is fighting, he won’t be back there.
Alfonso's time to shine!

Also I was wondering if they'd remove Dedede if he was fighting. That's a nice touch.

!!!! Down tilt canceling into specials, eeeeeeee

Marth's Side Special in Melee is the death of Smash! It's so complex! By the time Smash 4 rolls around, the shit will play exactly like Soul Calibur! alright i'm done
Man people are gonna lose it when heihatchi and nightmare are able to walk in three dimensions to get better angles
or when Jean Grey goes X-Factor all over their asses

Some hacker managed to pull Ryu, Lucas, Roy, Dreamland 64, and the SF stage from the patch data, then streamed himself playing around with them.

Roy has quite a few changes to make him feel more like a Brawl clone and less like a melee clone. He also has a new final smash.

Lucas is Lucas, not much to see there.

Ryu has multiple versions of each special attack, one version performed by normal inputs and others performed by SF inputs. He has 2 final smashes too.

Dreamland 64 looks to be generally unchanged.

The SF stage is a walkoff on the right side.

He also has strong and weak normals depending on if you tap the button or hold it.

Actually I think he has 3 versions of his specials.

And then for stuff like the Hadoken you can change it's distance by holding down B on top of all that.

I'm in the same boat as you.
I never got the hang of it right, it was all about mashing buttons and such.
However, I always appreciated its characters, stages, combos and overal presentation. Heck, I can say exactly the same about King of Fighters
What it has done for the fighting genre as a whole is simply amazing so I don't really understand why people feel so butthurt about the inclusion of a single character to Smash's roster.
Yea if anyone deserves to be in it its Ryu

Was the Miiverse stage in the update and the miners just aren't showing it off?

Yea
Unlocked the Miiverse stage! Leave comments to cheer on the fighters!

KO’ing an opponent will result in one comment of support, but doing so with a meteor smash will result in two comments! Two is better than one! Every so often, the message that appears after a fighter is KO’d will be in support of that fighter, not the fighter who did the KO’ing.

Comments will appear based on how the battle is progressing. As the battle nears its end, they will appear for shorter amounts of time

I can't imagine Ryu being anything other than BROKE AS FUCK

I'm totally okay witht that, but I will be very impressed if he is not God of Gods Tier

Giving one character so many more options when it comes to moves seems harmful to the game's meta. A good Ryu player at a tournament will always look more skilled than one with any other character.

Just speculation though, could be completely gimmicky and forgotten after people find out the best strategy.

It would be super sick if you plug in an arcade stick and can just control Ryu exactly like you do in SF, lol. That would be a fun easter egg.

Ah, seems a trend with DLC characters not having "Fun Fact" based tips and having them all be game play tips.

I noticed it with Mewtwo and the trend continues with these three.

It's not anything anyone will ever notice but me because I'm insane.

We've had characters with complex mechanics before. Lucario and Shulk both have built in mechanics that require more skill to use and are unique compared to other fighters.

That's how it starts with one character then suddenly the next smash game starts having you do complicated inputs to get off moves. Smash has never been about doing complicated input to get off moves and I have no idea why they felt the need to start now.

This is total bullshit and I don't like it.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Out of ALL the things I've seen you complain about, this is by far the funniest.

This is a little thing that is a genuinely cool homage to the Street Fighter series and here you are screaming about how this suddenly makes Smash Bros. terrible and every Smash game from now on will follow this example.

I can sort of get why you might hate Gurren Lagann. I can sort of get why you might also hate Jojo.

BUT

I will probably never understand how such a simple, cool little feature, warrants such hatred from you.

It's like hating a delicious sundae because somebody put a cherry on top of it.

It's DLC so my general attitude towards this is ultimately "meh".

Still, Ryu seems to fit in surprisingly well, and Roy got a good redesign (I assume it's from Awakening, where, funnily enough he was also DLC).

What will be left for the upcoming presentation? The Inkling Girl trophy has me suspicious...

Funny this happens the same day I finally decided to redeem my WiiU Mewtwo code

He probably has enough drawbacks that the gimmick is valuable to his competitive value.

I will laugh if all these FG mechanics that Ryu has means he gets sent to the top tiers

I predict he will actually be high tier. It looks like he has good moves in general, even his aerials (from what I saw) and the multiple variations of his specials (especially the Shoryuken ones) will be immensely useful for the character. And I haven't even mentioned FADC yet.

I hope I'm right lol.

FADC UmeShoryu might be possible in Smash?
VAKcqAR.gif

My goodness, imagine if someone pulled it off in a Smash Tourney! The HYPE!

EDIT: Ahhh, no Final Smashes......UmeShoryu a no go in Tourneys. :(

If anything, having more technical characters will atleast make the game more interesting to watch for me.
