Ha ha funny, parading women as sex object or doing a close up shot on a woman boob as she comes out of the water is not gender equality.

The actual characters were great. However, while the F&F series has always enjoyed a certain amount of T&A....goddamn the director of this one really loves him some asses. From the almost comically high number of ass shots in the opening sequence at the race club to various other shots throughout the movie

Fuck Cookie, the only reason the latinos started caring about F&F is because we lost our collective shit to Danza Kuduro that whole year. Not Diesel, Not Rodriguez, not that israeli chick with the bathing suit scene that made everyone in Latin America laugh.

It was all that damn song for us.

Edit: Also, we love Tom Cruise for some reason.

That fucking song. THAT FUCKING SONG. It was finally losing power and then it appeared in the big screen and back to being blasted 24/7.

Amazing. Glad to see this movie doing well, even though I'm probably not going to rush out to theaters to see it myself.

Its not as good as the last one, but one of the mid-movie (mostly) practical stunt scenes is one of the coolest car stunt sequences they've ever filmed.

Of the group of nine friends I saw Furious 7 with, three were white.

The theater was packed fulla color that night.

The rock got the biggest cheers.

Hispanics: not white when it 'matters'.

Whether a Hispanic identifies as white is generally best left to the individual. Applying white/not-white to Hispanic broadly is indeed foolish though.

Such a great movie too. That said, I totally understand why this is popular with all cultures in the US; it's pretty universal and has a pretty diverse cast for a Hollywood movie.

People starting singing along in the theater and dancing on their seats.

Shit was shameful.

They still going to be slow and hesitant to change anything. Until people in Hollywood stop hating minorities not much will change.

Nope. Hollywood will mark it up to a fluke and continue on casting and making movies for white males.

There's a reason there's a derogatory racial term for Italians in the us. Italians and Irish were not considered white for a long time
Irish were considered ginger blacks. White, but lowly compared to other whites. Regardless everybody originating from Europe is considered white now, except Roma.

I never really thought about it while watching, but The Fast and the Furious does have a pretty diverse cast. With Paul Walker gone (rip) they're actually going to need someone new to fill the token white role (you don't hear that too often).

I know the perfect actor to fill the role of Straight White Male!

Idris Elba.

You're welcome.

Have you seen the movies? The female characters are super bad ass and can drive just as well (or better) than anyone. There is an occasional cheese cake / beef cake shot but the female cast are developed way better than probably every other action franchise.

Han & Giselle 4 Ever (RIP)

I feel like Fast Five and F&F6 weren't nearly as gratuitous with the music video shots like 7 - the desert race specifically.

Doesn't hurt that the F&F movies are fucking fun as shit to watch either, but this is cool news either way.

fucking lol.

That song was everywhere though.

Praise Yakub.

My theater was filled with hispanics/latinos. White people ain't about that familia.

Lucas Black's country ass is ready.

Those constant slow-mo booty shots though.

Didn't realise how white the avengers were, only black guy is Samuel L Jackson

Is it like that in the comics as well?

Nick Fury was originally white.

When Ultimate came out, the writers decided to make him black and based his look on Sam Jackson (with Jackson's blessing).

Then, when the movies came out, it was only natural that Jackson would be Fury since he was the model for the updated character.

But yeah, compared to Furious 7, Avengers is pretty white. Agents of SHIELD has more color than Avengers.

The character is Japanese, the actor who plays him is Korean, and even if Han Seoul-Oh is a Korean name, nothing in the movies ever implied he's Korean, all we see is home live in Tokyo at the start, be one of the main guys involved in underground racing, working with the Japanese yakuza and then he also keeps talking about wanting to go back to Japan/Tokyo during the rest of the movies. Surely you can see why people would assume he's a Japanese character in the movie. Virtually nothing implies he's Korean.

I believe he have never said anything that suggest he originally lives in Tokyo throughout the series. Nothing about going 'back' or 'returning', and more of 'going to' Tokyo.

Him having a Korean name is more than enough to imply he is a Korean rather than a Japanese. He's the only Asian character in TD to not utter a Japanese line. Even Twinkle warns Sean knows about the Yakuza and Neela's pretty deep in that underground racing life too.

Dude, the director is Asian (Taiwanese American). I'm pretty sure he can tell the difference between the different Asian nationalities and wouldn't just give a Korean actor a Korean name and try to claim he's Japanese. There was no implication that Han originated in Japan. He always seemed like an outsider.

And he never said anything about wanting to go back to Japan. In fact IIRC, his line was that he was thinking of visiting Japan, implying that was a new destination for him

Can anyone point to the time when Hispanics became non-white despite being from Spain?

Because they're not spaniards? Unless the indigenous central and south american people, who they're mixed with, also came from Spain
