Bloodborne Load Times are Getting Patched. Along with other performance optimisations

So with the Yukimura update, we can map jump to L3, yes?
Should be able to, unless I understand it wrong.

I've been thinking about how I can get the game playable on Remote Play, back touch never works reliably enough for me.

I'm curious to see how much they can improve it. I'm not sure how much Ubi ended up fixing Unity, but games performing better awhile after launch is bullshit. Playing this makes me appreciate Uncharted's delay.

uh.....was just about to pick this up digitally (2x Ps4) just for the coop....

Maybe its wise to wait a week or 2 if coop is bad at moment

It's a mixed bag. Load times are a definite issue for all players, as is specters not working. But I personally have not noticed any frame rate issues even with co-op.

I'll challenge this. Nothing about the game is screams hollywood or cinematic experience. There's clearly a link between what the player perceives to be the "real world" and the hunter's "dream world" that is used as a hub area. I think the PR even focused on the nightmare theme of the game. You should play the game or watch a video from the beginning before you try to predict what the developer's intentions were.

I can't play it--I don't own a PS4.

All I know is what CA is. If they wanted to indicate some sort of link between two worlds, what's real vs what's illusory, I'd be willing to bet they could come up with something other than emulating the characteristics of an (old or bad) lens.

CA is lens emulation--that's it. It's why it is worse in the corners/edges of the screen, because that is a characteristic of those lenses.

I actually find it ironic that the big plus for the machines this generation is that they were much easier to develop on, and also had much more memory, so developers could make good games faster and with less issues.

However, more games are releasing with severe issues than ever before and development time is massively increasing.

I really, really hope they add something for the load screens.

Even if they're becoming shorter, they are criminally empty. What happened to concept art? Or item descriptions? Or anything?

Presentation matters, even if people think it's one dumb, small thing.
I couldn't agree more. The loading screen they have now is atrociously bad, and I'm not sure how it went through development like that and made it into the game. Someone had to have said something, at some point.

Hopefully the load times get addressed soon. It's annoying when I'm trying to make a risky jump or working out a different tactic.

For me, I can justify long load times as punishment for death. I'm much more concerned about the frame-pacing problems that Digital Foundry reported on the other day.

This is how I'm taking it. If I don't want a 40 second load screen? I had better improve. Honestly, it's my only gripe about this game. I still don't understand all of the complaining over CA like it destroys lives. But then again, I'm barely noticing the frame drops either. These are things I can look past if the base game is stellar. Which it is.

Thank god, those load times are atrocious. Even if you don't die that often it's aggravating to just sit there in front of BLOODBORNE™ for more than 30 seconds.

~40 second load times on death, and really long in general. I feel like I'm playing a PSX game off a CD at times. Framerate drops into the teens when playing with a co-op partner and is all over the place in general. And yeah, blood stain specters do not work. Some serious technical issues.

I was thinking the same thing as well at the beginning but now they work about 50% of the time. But yeah there's something wrong with them.

Shouldn't run and jump register as different things? Hold circle is run, tap circle while running is jump. Surely you can separate the jump action from the run itself?

No. You can reassign one button to another, you can't distinctly differentiate hold and press.

So you can assign circle to L3 but that will map all circle related inputs to L3 instead

Anyone else having serious issues with invasions/summons?

We tried to do some PvP today but the moment you get summoned or invaded, our frame rate or frame pacing (I honestly have no idea which it was) went to hell. Stuttering galore and completely unplayable. (This is not a connection issue, we're on the Uni's network, and this happens every time you get summoned/invaded.)

LOL at people trying to justify long load times as a punishment for death.

I think most of those are tongue-in-cheek, but they do remind me of a gaffer who claimed Bungie's decision to leave out social features in Destiny was "brilliant" because it forced people to use online communities/boards to meet people they wanted to play with. Brilliant!

Hmm so the multiplayer has worse framerate?

Is it some sort of sync between the client/server issue like really old online games made for lan or clearly performance related?

I would like to see a movie in 60fps of the online coop

I tried to give the game another shot tonight but I just can't deal with the load times.I played maybe 90 minutes and on the third deaths I had to shut it off. It totally kills my desire to keep at it when I have to sit and stare at nothing for over half a minute. It's a real shame and I feel it's almost disrespectful for them to release it thinking these load times/screens were acceptable. Maybe I'm in the minority as others seem to be enjoying the game regardless, but as someone who only has maybe an hour to two to play a game a day the last thing you want is to spend a percentage of it being bored and unengaged. The framerate hasn't caused me any trouble. Heck, I honestly haven't noticed it. It's just these load times/loading screens.

I asked this in the OT, but that seems like unmarked spoiler town now. Is vibration working at all? I tried different settings, but I haven't noticed it at all.

I have a bigger problem with forcing two long loading screens just to let me level up. Is there somewhere else I can level up besides a long loading screen to the hub world and back?

Jesus, man, pick up a phone or something.

I totally get the complaint, the loading is bad, and I agree. But jeez. Disrespectful?

Load times don't even bother me. We just live in the NOW generation.

Its the fps that is kind of yuck. I can't even comprehend why its so bad.

Optimisation happens at the very end of development. Frame rates improve and load times reduce at the very tail end of making a game, once all the other components are final.

They might be stuck with long loading times if the game engine streams small chunks of data as you progress, rather than loading a whole level into memory in the initial load. Or they might have optimised load times from what they had been, reducing them before launch. Or they might have run out of time. Seeing as Sony have said a patch to improve load times is incoming, I suspect it's the latter.

DF et all seem to think that the frame pacing issues could be patched with relative ease, based on previous games that launched with the same issue and were fixed with updates. Weird that such a thing could get into the final code. Again, it points to running out of time in the crunch before going gold. They did delay the game by a month back in November, which was only 10-12 weeks away from the initial launch date. So they would have been in the final stages of the games development.

They should of delayed this game a few more months.
There are too many issues that should never of made it into the final game.

yeah, LMAO @ the idea of just staring at the screen for 40 seconds. check your email, grab your phone and browse facebook

Interesting how fast an official response comes from Sony for their 93+ MC game but for the other game released last month they stay silent. I mean where is the photomode we were promised for the Order? I hold on with my second playthrough because of this.

You should of used should have. What are these many issues? And no they shouldn't have delayed it.

None of these issues really surprise me sadly. This generation is full of technically poor games. But I was curious how From Software would get their own brand of "technically poor" into this game.

I don't expect much from patches either. =/

Things I would like to see patched:

- loading of course
- travel between lamps
- enemy respawn at lamps
- leveling up at lamp
- store at lamp would be nice, but not completely necessary if loading is vastly improved
- it seems that you have to ring a bell to be invaded. I have yet to be invaded and I'm almost halfway NG+
- better loading screens would be a nice to have, but not necessary

Jesus.... talk about Stockholm syndrome.

I think that's taking it too far. Ignore the game as a whole because of a few loading screens.

From, let me tell you this. If you can't reduce the load times, I understand, and I'm willing to forgive it. Technical limitations are a bitch. What I won't forgive, however, is knowing full well that the load times are annoying and not doing everything in your power to allow the player to avoid them. Having to warp to the Hunter's Dream and back every single time I want to level up, repair my gear, fast travel, set my spawn point or reset the world is absolutely moronic. In Dark Souls, I could do every single one of these things straight from a bonfire with no loading needed. If you can fix nothing else, fix this and you've at least fixed something.

This.

After playing a couple hours I agree that the load times can get annoying. Especially if you want to try things out.

Yeah. The worse for me is when you get hit by a 1HKO attack. Going from full health to "You died" to a 40 second loading screen is pretty frustrating.

They should of delayed this game a few more months.

No, it might have a few rough edges but it's a bloody good game and I'd rather play it in the state it is in now than to wait for a few more months.

You should HAVE delayed your post, and proofread that thing before you posted it.

Sure there are some issues, but none so offensive to warrant a delay.

Absolutely. If load times are a technical limitation that can't be fixed, they need to design the game around that. Which obviously they didn't.

I guess putting in a SSD voids the warranty?
