Bloodborne Load Times are Getting Patched. Along with other performance optimisations

I played for about a half hour and before reading about the issue I definitely noticed the load times being fairly long. I say "fairly long" because I've seen worse but in this particular game it's more noticeable since you die frequently. I did not notice the stuttering but I usually don't notice stuff like that unless it's really bad. It's nowhere near as bad as Blighttown (I DEFINITELY noticed that).

I would welcome the fix but I don't regret buying the game. I'd rather be playing it now even at full price than waiting for them to fix it, so I don't blame FROM. It's nowhere near "broken."

Seeing as this is the hottest PS4 exclusive right now and for the foreseeable future do you think Sony will send a SWAT team to help optimize the game? Do they do that typically?

It's as bad as it was in Lords of the Fallen pre patch.

Upper left tree is covered in it.

Tell me that moon doesn't look as bad in motion.

Wait...how is chromatic aberration even in the game? Doesn't seem to fit the aesthetic...

Apparently that doesn't apply to CA because everyone and their mother shoves it into their games because somehow people think it looks good.

No. It only "looks good" if it's an effect because of a camera of some kind. Like in a sci-fi game or something where you have a fancy helmet with camera shit. Not in a fucking Victorian fantasy game or medival fantasy game or any game where the camera isn't an actual fucking camera.

I didn't know this was in the game (like I didn't know the load times are apparently terrible). Really puts a damper on my hype and it arrives tomorrow.

Ugh.

Friends and I tried playing this morning. We stopped not too long in after we sat through several nearly minute long loads after small fuck-ups and just trying to mess around with creative deaths.

:/

Also the CAberation looks terrible.

Is there anyone with an SSD who can comment on their experience with load times? I am considering picking one up after work today, although I dread waiting for everything to reinstall. However, if it is a considerable difference in load times, I may suck it up and do it.

Yea I'm sorry but besides the load times I haven't had any major issues. That CA stuff you guys are talking about wasn't even noticeable to me until that one picture zoomed all the way on it. Not a big deal to me but if they address it cool.

The way it's worded does not sound guaranteed that they will noticeably improve the load time?

Doubt they can. Maybe shave off a second here and there, but to significantly improve things they'd basically have to rewrite their loading/streaming system. Very unlikely, if not impossible.

man so many people who can't deal with a little loading and I'm sitting here having a blast. Oh well I welcome the patch.

Wow, completely different tone in here than the OT.

The framerate and loadscreens are tolerable for the GotY. I doubt they'll be able to improve it by much. Game's loading in a ton of content.

If they can't decrease the load times they should add random loading screens in the form of item descriptions or artwork or something like that.

What should be their number one priority is frame pacing. I can't stare at something like that for a longer period of time. Gets too distressing.

Good lord, is this sarcasm or do you simply not grasp it? It can win all the awards in the industry for all I care. That still doesn't excuse loading times that last almost a minute and terrible frame pacing. Frame rate is not the issue here by the way, read the damn OP.

Load times didn't bother me on a 960GB Crucial M500. Newer SSDs should be even better. I'd say the longest load times were just about enough for me to pick up a glass of water off a side table, and have a couple sips before the game finished loading. Not too bad at all.

Glad to hear they're trying to improve it. The framerate and load times are only thing marring the game IMO. Still having a blast.

Sounds like a considerable difference. Thanks for the feedback!

I am thankful that these issues are hopefully being patched.
But games releasing buggy and broken is becoming a terrible trend

Jesus

I'm going back to the OT then.

Digital Foundry stated an SSD reduced load times by 25%.

Thus a 40 second load time becomes a 30 second load time.

It isnt framedrops like blighttown. Its a constant stutter because the engine isnt putting out all the frames in the right order.

The framerate isnt dropping (mostly) it just feels like it is.
Ah, ok. I haven't been home to play it yet so I don't know how personally annoying it is. I'll be back here after I log some hours. :)

Never played a Souls game before, but I was going to pick this game up and give a shot... Now, I think I'll wait for a patch or two (and the inevitable price drop). Long load times are a pet peeve of mine, and this doesn't seem like it's worth putting up with until it's fixed.

God I hope they can do something because I'm at a point where I'm dying all the time now and I'm constantly staring at that loading screen. It didnt seem too bad in the beginning but now it's just becoming unacceptable.

Except it is.

The broken frametiming makes the game seem like it is constantly stuttering.
It is a bug. A very annoying bug.

Is it really that bad? I have not opened my copy but most people are saying (that I have read) that its not all the time and its not a huge issue.

That being said, I HATE screen tearing so I can see how people would have an issue 100%.

As a newcomer to this series and as someone who is in the process of learning the mechanics, the load times are completely killing my enjoyment of the game. I died so many times in the beginning that my combined load times is like my daily commute to work.

Well go see what the general community thinks. These threads will always have a very vocal group with strong opinions. If people in genreal think so that's another thing

When do you see this happening in the game?

I haven't gotten very far, but just in the first hour or so into the game I haven't noticed any frame stuttering or dips.

I'm curious to know what exactly it is and where exactly in the game is it really noticeable?

The obvious question is why didn't they just fix the load times before release?

They had to have known they were excessive and would annoy people...

This kinda makes me want to cancel my preorder and hold off until it's cheaper... Already paying more than I would for other games with the cheapest price being £45 (ridiculous).

I suppose, I just watched video on the load times... 40 seconds. It doesn't sound like long but man... staring at that screen sucks for that long. I guess we need to really learn from our mistakes lol.

From the moment I gain control of my character to the moment I turn the game off. It's constant.

"As soon as possible"
lol, wonder how long it will take them. The frame pacing issues are unacceptable and the loadtimes are also a problem.

I'm interested to see how console players react to the PS4/XB1 edition of DS2 releasing so soon after. It might make the framerate issues seem more pronounced in comparison.

Good. I want to buy it but not full price, since i will probably never finish the game... Due to time restrictions and the lack of a spine........
So now i can wait and buy it when it's perfect.
