Did details of the game ever get out? I remember Josh Sawyer mentioning that it was a pretty unique and out there sort of concept/setting, but never saying what it actually was. Probably still under NDAs and shit.
All I've heard is that it was called Stormlands and that it was funded (then cancelled) by Microsoft.

Great documentary. Looking forward to more. I still find it crazy to think such a talented developer can be in such dire financial straits, even with the knowledge of so many other amazing studios dropping like flies for years now.

I thought about buying a ton of copies and handing them out to people who thought Dragon Age: Inquisition was the best RPG ever, you know, like alms for the poor? Then I realized they might have mistaken the codes for food and tried to stick it up their noses or something.

Still, it's a good deal for those who want to spread the gospel.

But its not for consoles WW!

I feel like we discussed this already, but has Obsidian said anything about the break-even point for Eternity? I'm curious what kind of sales figures to be watching for in the first few weeks.

It'll be hard to tell from Steam numbers alone because there ar enon Steam versions, and of course some 80,000 backers or so who already paid.

I don't know that they've said how much more they've invested in PoE, I'm pretty sure they did though, I don't think 3 million covers a game like this.

I think advertising is going to be the issue. If they don't have the millions to put this title up on every browser, they need to have this game being played by the top streamers on youtube/twitch, etc.

Wasn't the whole point of Kickstarter the fact that they had no money to invest in it? I'm still not clear on whether Paradox floated them any $$ for this last delay, or if they had other private investors, but prior to that they were quite adamant about releasing before 2014 year end because that's when the money was going to run out.

Well they've taken on a few more projects since then notably the Pathfinder card game and the Tanks MMO game. Also Brandon Adler said they've put some of their own money in.

Why would they regret it? Because PoE was a success or because next gen is in desperate need of exclusives?

Because MS is in desperate need of exclusives. I also have a suspicion (albeit purely gut instinct) that a WRPG exclusive would move some consoles. Especially if the PS4 is looking fairly barren in terms of exclusives for the genre.

Did the kickstarter tiers have any that gave out multiple game copies?

Yeah $500 is physical with an additional digital it seems and $1000-3000 level comes with an extra 5 digital copies, 5k Inn an extra 10 and 5k Adventure co comes with 15 and 10k comes with 10.

Interesting, I mean I figured they'd put in something but not exactly a whole hell of a lot. I wonder how that works seeing as both projects are no released so I doubt they've got much in terms of excess cash. As well I'm curious as to how they made out with South Park as that was really well done, though I'm not sure how it actually did sales wise.

So only the really high tiers. Low tier extra copies could inflate the sales numbers on places like steam is why I'm asking. I'm not a fan of giving away tons of copies (also not a fan of physical rewards that drain time and budget)

Yeah of all those extra copies we're talking well below 1k total. But who know's how many people threw in an extra $25 or $60 on the PoE pledge website. But I doubt that will amount to very much more.

I love physical rewards <3

Yeah well apparently they are a nightmare for devs to process and deliver so I'm not a fan. I was happy with Hong Kong because they cut down on them and didnt get into trap rewards like T shirts (which are a surprising amount of headache thanks to sizing)

On the kickstarter page it looks like the physical + digital download starts at the $65 tier and the two digital copies start at $80 dollar tier.

Well, I mean, if the price paid for them outweighs the cost, it's a plus.

We know, we all know.

What abomination of an RTS has units, each with a dozen abilities/spells targeted and AOE that also places a huge importance on egagement positoning, flanking, etc?

'Cause it would take at least 4 Koreans to play it right.

Engagement is an abomination of a system for a real-time with pause game.

They've had so many games cancelled that it isn't even funny. The Snow White game, their sci-fi rpg, Alien, their Xbone game and whatever game I can't think of right now. I'm just glad that they are alive and kicking. That we are getting Pillars of Eternity is almost a miracle.
