I mean physically angry like you want to punch somebody. The sound of it is the most annoying thing in the world. The subject matter of what people are whispering about does not bother me, it could be gossip or something more innocent like asking for a writing utensil. There's something about it which completely derails any train of thought and is genuinely painful.

Googled it and turns out I'm not alone:

i think what thatgirll and the asker of the question are talking about is NOT that they hate when people seem to be gossiping about them when they whisper. what thatgirll and the asker of the question are referring to is the NOISES people make when they whisper. i dont know WHY i hate it so much..i literally feel angry to the same point they mention! i want to punch a wall or something! i hate the intimacy of it or something...i wish i could say why! part of me wonders if i have some kind of trauma around whispering bc i despise it THAT MUCH!

^That poster hit the nail on the head. That is exactly how I feel. It doesn't seem to be "Misophonia" either, which is a hatred of more ordinary sounds but I suppose it would be a similar type of disorder or fall under that same umbrella.

This in all its forms.
Figure most people aren't serious.
Least I hope they aren't. Seems like OT would be a pain to hang around.

There's a set in the population that were bullied growing up so there are certain triggers such as whispering that can set it off. As you can imagine whispering to some people can imply that they are secretly talking bad about them.

Like I said, the subject matter does not bother me.

They could be whispering about theoretical physics or buying groceries. It does not matter. It's the fucking audible texture if you will. How it sounds, you know?

Week-End Gaf is best Gaf !!

Only when people are having a side discussion during a project meeting. So obnoxious. Take it into the fucking hall.

Rest assured that if they're whispering ills about you, they do so because they are cowards before your might. Otherwise, it doesn't concern you.

Ease up a little.

Uh, no, that's weird. I don't like the sound, but it doesn't infuriate me or anything close to that.

But people who smack their food should all be locked up in dungeon.

Again, the subject matter of their whispering does not matter.

The whispering of their whispering is what incites anger. Just talk normally, text each other, write notes, whisper low enough so I don't hear it at all. But for the love of christ, do not whisper in my general vicinity.

I get annoyed at people drumming their fingers impatiently due to years of working retail in early college life. Doesn't mean I'm going to get physically angry or let it bother me for more than a second. It's not a big deal.

Yes but it's only because I am profoundly deaf in both ears so I can't hear whenever someone is whispering to me and no matter how many times I tell them that, they don't get the message.

I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but I hated the deep and lower sounding whispering voice, like if someone is speaking really quietly in another room I can still hear it, but it would sound like mumbling, it's annoying and it does get on my nerves.

What happened to you, though?

It annoys me more when people are whispering in quiet areas(like theaters and quiet cars in trains) than if they where talking normal.

But does it make me rage? No. It just annoys me.
