The graphics are so poor... :(

Ahhh so that was the book that I blindly preordered on Amazon a while back. Well I suppose I might want 2. Also the digital Almanac sounds just as nerdy as I hoped.

99% sure.

But is it too late to up pledges from digital to hard copy + cloth map?

Don't have my login details on me but I think you can only buy addons now not make a new or amend previous pledges.

Pillars of Eternity

Platform: Macintosh, Linux, Windows PC

Rating Category: Mature Rating Symbol

Content Descriptors: Blood, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Violence

Rating Summary: This is a role-playing game in which players assume the roles of heroes exploring a fantasy world. From a ¾-overhead perspective, players traverse dungeons/crypts, interact with different characters, and engage in various quests. Players use swords, axes, and magic spells to kill human enemies and fantastical creatures (e.g., dragons, trolls, ogres). Battles are accompanied by slashing impact sounds and frequent blood-splatter effects. Some levels depict chamber floors covered in large pools of blood. During the course of the game, players can interact and purchase services from a prostitute—no sexual act is ever depicted. The dialogue can also reference sexual material (e.g., “The prostitute holds her hips, thrusting her chest forward as you come near her” and “But if he spreads a rumor that her lover has just visited a brothel and acquired a pox on his loins, she'll end it on her own.'). The word “f**k” appears in dialogue.

As expected.

But this actually drives home the point that it really will be done and released rather soon. I still haven't fully comprehended this fact.

I'm not sure. I do know Obsidian own the right to IWD2 assets, so that's probably why they are using them.
Ugh, should have dumped a few extra thousand and got the awesome UI artist to redo them. This is pretty much following WL2's inventory mess.

It's both frustrating and exciting to have passed the point where major art and design issues will have to be left for expansions or sequels to address. Frustrating, because it means lowering expectations for a game I've wanted for some time. Exciting, because that means it will be here soon.

Unsure if this has been mentioned yet, but the embargo for POI impressions from those who attended PDXCON ends on the 20th of Feb. Expect a bunch of preview content and personal thoughts from press and Youtubers to go up on Friday, 1500 CET.

Sweet! Wonder if TB was able to see this, given his health. Anyone know of any prominent youtubers who might have content up about this?

It's beautiful! Adventurer Edition, two days after my birthday. Yes, please.

Is this available in the US? I already backed for the full digital release (I think $80?) But I believe my 14month old would get a kick out of the physical art books, so I'd happily pick up a physicla copy to boot, and maybe give out the key to a poor soul.

Depends what you mean by prominent. It's obviously a Paradox Interactive event, so the folks invited typically had a skewing toward strategy games and similar, especially if they favoured playthroughs of Paradox Studio's games. For Youtubers specifically, pretty sure you can expect content on POI from Arumba, Quill18, MathasGames, SolarGamer and NorthernLion. I know T.J. Hafer of PC Gamer / IGN was there. RPS had someone, but the name escapes me, sorry. Can't think of other names off the top of my head.

You guys gonna jump in on day 1 or wait for a couple patches first? I'm anticipating this game quite a bit but def got the feeling that it'd be best to wait a bit.

Nah, I couldn't hold off for a minute, never mind a few patches. I don't thik there will be major things wrong, things that would be to the detriment of enjoying the game on day 1. I'm sure there will be little issues here and there, but meh, no biggie.

I'll save the patches for my subsequent playthroughs.

I have no idea. If Europe is blessed with something, it's the CEs of PC RPGs.

And there's no artbook, at least not in the one I posted. That's "just" an old-school manual and guide.

I haven't backed this so I'm buying as soon as I can to show my support.

Is there any kind of co-op in this, like Divinity OS or is it a single player only affair...? and I might wait also on impressions and to see if there will be more balancing issues when the game releases...I never finished a Baldur's Gate game because it became too hard at some points, and this looks like the same...not a knock on the game, just waiting to see how people will find the challenge on release day...

No co-op. Single player RPG. There's definitely a difficulty slider you can take advantage of if you ever get stuck on something. The base combat is absolutely challenging though.

Hmmm, I'll guess I buy the physical guidebook separately then. $15 on Amazon. Wish it was soft cover though. Not sure my son will be able to navigate a big hard cover book.

Ah ok thanks...and a slider is awesome, all games should have this instead of making you drop the game on easy without letting you bring it back to normal or hard.

There's going to be at least one more beta update aiming for next week but knowing them, probably the week after.

Holding off. I've got too much to play anyways, so I figure there's no reason not to wait and let the game get some improvements in the meantime.

Does the beta have an end date yet? I hope Obisidian lets people keep the beta app even though v1.0 will render it redundant. It's the only reason I slacker-backed the game.

I don't know, but I am guessing the Beta will be removed. It's pretty much just content that will be in the full game, as far as I understand.

As hemtae said, there will be another beta update at some point:

Sorry I haven't posted here lately. A few things:
I am going to propose that either Tim or Josh run through the game. Not sure if it will fly, but we are having our PAX East meeting on Monday. We will talk about it then. It can be tough for the presenter to play and talk at the same time, but Josh is pretty decent at it.

I have a bunch of feedback from you guys and from the Obsidian forum. I am sending it out to the crew now and we will talk about it on Monday. We should be able to show off some stuff that you guys are requesting.

About Dyrford Crossing having bad nav and selection going on... we found a pretty serious issue with the area. For some reason the area was rotated incorrectly. This makes it have tons of problems with selection and movement. Sean is fixing it right now and hopefully it will be good for the next backer beta (looking to deliver that sometime next week).

Even if it is I imagine Obsidian would be accommodating if I were to explain why I'd like it back.

So far only head commentary on the Paradox event from Angry Joe. No footage, and not really in depth, but Angry Joe and Other Joe said it was the game they were most excited about. They thought it looked beautiful and looked really, really promising.

Metalcanyon has a bunch of gameplay videos if you want that.

Note: It will take us about 8 hours to sign all of those collector's editions. That stack is like 1 of 10 or so. (Additional Note: Those are just the sleeves for the boxes)

Only 1/10th of the total to be signed. :D

"The game has been delayed due to widespread carpal tunnel syndrome in the office. We regret these turn of events, but ultimately blame you greedy fuckers."
