Nisekoi 158

Quit trying to fool me with your fake plot that you'll renege on at a moment's notice! You're not actually going to remove Chitoge and Tsugumi from the plot, are you? And have Raku finally actually realize that he likes Chitoge more than Kosaki when you get down to it? There's no way...I mean, there is, but only if this series is going to end in short order.

(also, nice to see you, Haru...goddamn you should be around more often)

LesbianSOLO! by Morishima Akiko

A recently heartbroken girl goes drowning her sorrows along with her friends. They're all lesbians of course. Fun series of 4koma.

Oh no!

LesbianSOLO! 2 by Morishima Akiko

Jun wants to break up with her girlfriend...

A far more melancholic short story.

Punpun end.

What a terrible ending.

This is the first manga series where I am legitimately pissed for reading it.

I thought it would finallly get better once they reunited but nooo, nothing but bad decisions and mistakes after the confrontation with aiko's mom. Bloody hell, I am an insane by default, and even I couldn't fathom the whole thought process.

punpun should be dead but nooo. god damn it. the other one hanged instead. god fucking damn it.

unlikable to the very end.

I think reading HunterxHunter or Negima will fix my mood.

great series though infuriating. would read again.

Terra Formars or whatever the hell that shit is called :
I started that because of that recent thread in OT.
OMG is this actually serious?
Now that's I've read something like 1 vol worth of content....
1rst I apologize to Kubo, by god I thought what he was doing was shite.
But dear god compared to that crap, he's making gold plated caviar laced with foie gras.
I mean WTF is this shit?
Even if I was able to go past the hilariously badly hidden caricatures of the roaches,
it's the purest trash I've ever come across.
It's distilled concentrated pages after pages.
It's the kind of try hard shit I would expect of some doujin made by someone trying to sound deep while perusing wikipedia for factoid to insert into his scenes.

By god it's the worst thing I've ever read.
Good job to the author, if it was intentional it's absolutely well done!
There's nothing to save here.

The human designs/Powers are interesting...if they were just fighting other humans it would have been a decent series...but woof.

Everyone has different expectations and interpretations of the story, and that's fine. Punpun isn't a pleasant series to read through by any means, but whether you find it painful, rage-inducing, or thought-provoking, I believe it has value in being read.

Now that you finished it, do read the interview!

yes I agree, it is definitely worth reading at least once. ill check that interview now.

the bug powered humans actually look like the bugs they're meant to imitate so there's really no excuse on the roaches having the look they have.
The fights are shite, I haven't seen less interesting fights in Bleach.
the bug powers serve little to no purpose except for some weird bug fetishes which is always the same 'imagine if that insect I just read on wikipedia was the size of a human he would do this crazy thing!!!!'
This stuffs would have bored me in highschool, why is this immature stuff seinen?

I feel like everyone I know who's read the manga has been like "I can relate to Punpun" and I think that's a testament to what a good character he is. Yet i also hear a lot of broad philosophical lessons from Punpun, which is fine but I was always more a fan of close character analysis, so here's a little bit of what I think of Punpun's character(and that confusing bird metaphor).
I'm always amazed at how fucked up Punpun seems to become after being raped at an early age by what's her face. Because i think about that moment, and I think about all the times Punpun has consequently thought of rape. It's always as a sort of 'take' because he is miserable and lonely he has some sort of justification for it in his head. He never does it, but he does think about it. Of course this is a direct result of someone using Punpun at an early age because they were lonely and miserable. This is also around the time I think the bird metaphor starts to change, as Punpun's visual style also starts to differ up. To me the bird is a changing and evolving metaphor, starting out as childlike innocence and warping from that as we see Punpun's character change while retaining that bird like image. Punpun begins with a very innocent outlook of the world and his own terrible situation, and as the story progresses the idea of his own 'innocence' becomes tougher to justify. In his teens, as he thinks about raping that girl on the date(because the only real interaction he's had with a girl sexually has been rape) the image of the bird becomes awkward in the reader's head. The bird image is supposed to make you a little uncomfortable after this point, and the consequent changes like wise. When it suddenly changes to a cube, and the little to no emotions or movements Punpun displays become a worrying as both others and the reader don't know what is happening or what he is thinking. As it becomes black and sinister, you know he's gone off the deepened, yet it still retains that birdshape; that now warped sense of 'innocence' as we see how the cute bird has grown up. At the end when we last see him technically presented as a stranger, only recognized really by his bird like form. The last moment is in such an interesting contrast, because he is seen by a childhood friend, someone at that initial point of the bird, yet they cannot recognize him, as a now adult Punpun is surrounded by new friends; creating a final contrast of where we started and where we ended, and how much this one child has changed into his adult hood.

Sorry if none of this makes sense, I tend to ramble and was never good at making my arguments stick to one conscience point.

I agree with your analysis spot on. After letting it simmer for a bit I would curse Asano to oblivion. An alright ending could have been achieved without Aiko killing herself... ;_;

Haru x Kiyo 7

It's never great when you're friends aren't supportive of your relationship. Especially when their desire to protect their later bloomer friend gets twisted in envy

MUST READ!!!! GIVE ME MORE LIKE THIS PLS!!!!

pochamani 15-16

love triangle time nooooooooooooooooooooo

wonzo why so gonzo

Young people are idiots.

Moral of the story. Don't do drugs kids lol

It has claimed another victim. If you read the interview with Asano, he intentionally did a few things to anger readers because of their opinions. Seriously, screw Asano for killing off Aiko ;_;

Nisekoi 158

Shuu trying to save the plot! I believe in you!

It's funny. The longer this thread of Komi threatening/teasing actual development goes without him actually committing to anything, the less I believe he'll actually do it.

Love to be wrong, though!

read it. whole new perspective.
I still don't appreciate Asano killing off Aiko. maybe if punpun wasnt spared i'd be much more content but i feel like aiko died for fucking nothing.

having said that, I have great respect for Asano. I would change nothing in Punpun, maybe aiko's death i would retcon to have her live and have her redeem punpun but otherwise...

I think Oyasumi punpun is best left as is.
pisses me off but a great story all the same.

Read Tokyo Ghoul or Beserk my friend, really solid Seinen series.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Killing off Aiko was possibly one of the more unsettling things that felt unnecessary and confusing since it offered no other resolution except for Punpun's own death. He was still planning to travel with her dead corpse for crying out loud! A better alternative would have been them calling the damn cops and explaining the situation instead of taking matters into their own hands.

From the same author, there's also Solanin, far shorter and more grounded in reality. If you're interested, you can check it out.

Otherwise, if you'd rather read something that'd soothe your soul, Yotsuba&!, Hinamatsuri and Nukoduke! are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

Not sure exactly what you're asking here, but ummm...

Yasashii Sekai no Tsukurikata
Yandere Kanojo (there's separate webcomic and manga chapters, both should be read even though some repeat stuff)
Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha
Fujiyama-san wa Shishunki
Sakuranbo Syndrome
Houkago Play
Taiyou no Ie

Romance stuff of different flavors, all good or great, go nuts.

I actually think it was a rather important moment. Because hey were relying on each other as a crutch. Even if they did that Punpun wouldn't have been capable of moving further on

Now would be a good time to start Tokyo Ghoul,
I have read, reread and even watched the new OVA of Berserk.
but you know what they say?
You can never read too much Berserk.
At least One Piece and Toriko were worth the wait!
Seriously Terraformars is more childish than freaking Naruto, is seinen for gore stuffs too?
I think I'll need to read an old Tezuka to cleanse the palate of that fool stuff.
What I find even more galling is that it's riding the wave of Shingeki or aSoIaF with the whole "can character #8643 live or will they all die?".
It's schtick here more than anything and worst of all it's insulting to my intelligence, I hate that.
I don't remember the last time I had the displeasure of reading something as shitty as that.

Kyoumen no Silhouette ch9

Dem cucumbers.

I agree with you, but everyone has different interpretations. That's the kind of series Punpun is, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Seinen simply means manga for adult males. It's not an absolute indication of quality.

Like in any other medium, there are trashy immature manga for adults too.

Well yeah obviously.
I'm more surprised that Kaze decided that this shit was going to look good beside Ikigami in their lineup though...
Is my memory playing games or did Kaze buy another publisher some time ago, I don't remember picking up Hokuto no Ken (that they push as shonen btw) through them...
they've got Level E...
shouldn't last me till HxH comes back but still.

Nisekoi 158

That question was long needed. Raku will just give a non answer anyway.

Nisekoi 157

We might see Chitoge being away for a bit to create drama.

Raku and Chitogr were talking about being half way through things a couple chapters ago, I have a feeling that entire talk was Komi being meta about the series.

I think i will just pick out w/e tickles my fancy...

Kyou Kara Yonshimai

Well now, they really didnt think things through.
oh well. that sister was questionable already but now there can be no doubts.

a lot of needed talking was done. i am pleased.

Prison School 139

this motherfucker is having a crisis in his head, making diagrams and graphs and holding imaginary elections about how to correctly fondle boobs, then went into the avatar state as the not fondle party leader was arrested.

I love it Maggle

I know this thread is full of spoilers, but I think some people should spoiler tag some of the stuff on this page for Punpun. Can't spoil the kohais.

Bleach 615

...

How screwed are we if the only thing that holds the whole planet together is in Japan and protected by idiots?

It's a finished manga at this point, so there's not much point as long as people label their posts properly. It's only an issue when it's out of context, or something's bolded/in red or something.

It's just a matter of willpower otherwise, or lack thereof. Although knowing the Aiko thing now makes it a little disappointing. Hopefully I forget by the time I have a chance to read it.

Hmm, could be, but they then immediately followed that up with the father saying three years was never the actual intent. And I do think Chitoge leaving would be prologue to the ending. And to be fair, I'm not against it happening, I just have a lot of doubts that they're gearing up for such an endgame two months before a second season of the anime is due to air.

But if Komi is going to ACTUALLY shake things up and leave them shaken up for a while...maybe with a little more Haru? (wink wink, nudge nudge) before Raku inevitably goes to get her and Tsugumi? I'm all for it.

Nisekoi 158

Can't wait for Raku to dodge the question next week. Good job anyway Shuu.

What would be interesting though is at the party, Chitoge reveals their fake relationship.

Nisekoi 158

Yeah, whatever. We all know Raku is just going to affirm his love for Kosaki, yet heroically manage to keep Chitoge in Japan because he's such a Nice Guy.

Always shocked when Shuu is calm and thoughtful. So jarring against the loud idiot.

Mashumaro Ecchi 14 - Finally! the deed is done. I wondered for a while they never get it together and instead find other people.

I wouldn't be able to stand people like Nisekoi's Raku in real life.

Such an indecisive, wishy-washy guy that I wouldn't be uncomfortable calling a hypocrite as well. Stringing along all the girls like that, horrible. Just pick one already and let the others move on with their lives, you twat.
