Any recommendations for some finished romance manga? Something relatively short would be nice but I dont mind reading something long if its good.

I don't know what you've already read but here's a few.

Bonnouji
Itoshi no Kana
Game Over (Mizutani Fuka)
Ane Doki
Sayonara Piano Sonata
Hatsukoi Limited
Henkoi!
Prunus Girl
Suki mo Yoi

These are all 4 volumes or less, execpt maybe Prunus Girl but I don't remember how long that was.

According to wiki, Ion Kuroda ( Sexy Voice & Robo, Japan Tengu Party ) said Yoshiharu Tsuge was his primary influence. I can see why after reading 4 chapters of Munou no Hito and he reminds me a little of Yoshihiro Tatsumi. I guess Munou no Hito is pretty popular as a cultural reference, I recall it appears in Furuya's Palepoli.

Too bad there's aren't more of his works available in Eng. And just 2 more chapters to go too for Munou no Hito.

Just a repeat: is Area D worth reading? Art looks great, concept looks sound, but the last manga like I read was Tokyo ESP and that turned to shit.

Area D is pretty good. I've read the first 6 volumes so far and it has nice art, good action and some interesting characters. Story is a mix of shonen stuff with a bit of mystery, a bit of revenge and people planning in the dark. So yeah, read it.

Oyasumi Punpun Chapter 40

Oyasumi Punpun Chapter 50

Teehee~

I think they probably enjoy a friendly rivalry. They both have a distinctive artstyle and specialize in sol manga that touches upon the drama in life, anxiety and escapism.

Yeah, which makes me wonder how a collaboration between the two would turn out.

anyone that read PUN PUN will understand why this comic hits so close to home when it comes to the MC

Holy shit.

Seeing these reactions are making me feel scared to even read this series.

Is it really a manga that mindfucks you this much?

It's a manga that makes you feel a very wide range of emotions, some positive, some negative, and is guaranteed to not leave you indifferent. You should read it!

It's a gloomy yet sobering read. I didn't know that it was a popular cultural reference though.

Punpun has turned into a floating triangle....

Told y'all the crude bird style for Punpun works fantastically well.

Good. Good. Let the feel overcome you with Punpun!

How I stalked some dude with an exposed nipple and stumbled upon the Zenithian Sword vol.2 ch.4
The monster invade, and Baki finally learn an offensive spell. Doubt he can do more than that though. His MP is way too low.

Ass. Classroom 120

Ok, the principal is ridiculous. THat's some DBZ level of teaching there!

Imperial Guards 14-22

Getting a peek into the lives of the other sides (sometimes fucked up) past and their motivations definitely adds the much needed extra layer of terrible to this truly awful war.

rip psychic kid u were baller to the last message ;-;7

Boku Girl ch39

What a weak-ass troll.

Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatte Iru Darou ka 4koma - Days of Goddess ch10

Dungeon crawling is tough~

Daytime Shooting Star volume 8

An entire volume dedicated to Suzume getting over being dumped by the teacher and coming out stronger than ever.
The whole run away from home was well executed, down to how Suzume's mother points out that for someone that ran away, Suzume brought very little with herself.

The volume also serves to bridge even more the relationship between Mimura and Suzume, both with Yuyuka realizing she's in love with someone else and Mimura closing the volume by telling to Suzume, over the phone, that him not being interested in her was a lie.

Looks like the Mimura-Suzume train is now departing station and isn't gonna stop, since every other road-block to that couple forming was removed.

One of Horihone Saizou's works got translated. Yay!

Molly House ch1 by Horihone Saizou

Story is about crossdressing. Kind of disappointing that it doesn't feature the author's usual brand of weirdness, but more interestingly I must say the slight changes in artstyle are rather noticeable, especially in how the men are drawn (less round faces with smaller eyes). It's still indubitably Horihone Saizou's art (the bar scene in particular has a pretty nostalgic mood reminiscient of the author's older works), but with a more modern feel, a bit more "pretty boy"-like instead of the cutesy style that was more popular in the early 2000s. Fascinating evolution.

Edit: Went back to the much earlier stuff, as my memories of them are definitely fuzzy, and apparently the men's faces were rougher-looking at first, but progressively became softer and less contrasting through the middle (which also saw a rise of works that muddles genders), and then became slightly more defined now. As I said, fascinating evolution.

My Hero Academia 29

Yo this battle is too good, those tactics. Guess Todoroki will choke because he doesnt want to use fire power.

Translator notes are so cool, they even inform of the author mistakes.

My Hero Academia 29

Figures Birdman's powers practically have nothing about him being a bird. Still it is a really cool original power and we don't get many of those. Speaking of powers, I wonder if Inspector Gadget has a quirk...besides REALLY liking her inventions. Shit is about to get really real as we end this event next chapter as Deku is going all out which he hasn't done since the festival started. As an added bonus it seems Deku is forcing Todoroki to use his fire abilities. Wonder how Katchan is going to get his points back, or any at all. Is half the class about to be eliminated? I'm gonna be kind of sad if we lose half the class before getting to see more about them.

Punpun and Taiyou no Ie are the longest ones, at around a dozen volumes each:

  • Goodnight Punpun: The life and times of a protagonist depicted as a poorly drawn bird...
  • Tasogare Otome x Amnesia: The story of a ghost haunting the grounds of an academy, and how the legends surrounding her came to be.
  • Taiyou no Ie: A house that used to be filled with love breaks apart. Now, several years later, how will its inhabitants mend its wounds? Still ongoing, but ends the next chapter.
  • Once Again: A short story about how a work-obsessed man rekindles his inner flame after the death of his wife.
  • Endo Hiroki Tanpenshuu: Small collection of short stories with a pretty big focus on human emotions and nature.
  • Kanojo wa Sore o Gaman Dekinai: Dogsuit smut.
  • Uwagaki: Following his rejection, the protagonist has to seduce the (very much literal) clone of his crush.

Boku Hero Acedemia

Really hope Deku pulls it out somehow at the last minute I want him to go for a sweep. Also WHY IS IDA SO GREAT! I really wish there was more commentary from All Might.

Boku no Hero Academia 29

Expecting Bakugou to basically blow up a large part of the arena which lets Deku get the headband before.

Guys i thought it would never, ever, make it to America.. but it did (Talking about Akame ga kiru)
HELL i didnt even imagine Mahou shoujo of the end making it here. ( i was in Books-A-Million btw) I browsed through the volume and its still as gory as i remember.

They better not cancell Hungry Joker was awesome I look forward to this!

Fuuka 50

Seo loves shitting on them childhood friends

Kagamigami 1

Its just felt like the one shot again. I guess they made the female the lead of the series and then made her taller than the lead.

I only liked the possessed Hakutenmaru part really. I could see it lasting longer than the other jump new series.

So there's a big difference in the translations of the latest MHA chapter by viz and the scanlators. In the scanlators, they say Monoma can copy up to two at a time, but in Viz they say he can only use one at a time. My guess is that he can store as many quirks as he wants during the 5 minute time limit for each, but while using one, he can't use any others. So he can switch between hardening and explosions and whatever else right now, but he can't harden while using the explosions at the exact same time

Was their catch up feature a good summary?

Shokugeki no Soma

New arc looks fun, although it does seem a bit like the last Restaurant Impossible arc. Hishouko's ending up in the harem, especially now that she's not really Nakiri's friend.

I have to imagine DTL is completely bent that Soma's new friendship-rival team is Ryo and Hayama with Takumi nowhere to be seen.

I thought it was pretty good. Especially if he can blend a battle shonen and a detective series.....

I guess I picked the right time to re-subscribe to International Jump since it's new series time again.

*looks at Kagamigami* Generic... doesn't really do anything to stand out. Not horrid, but not amazing.

I mean, even though they're not blood related (ugh what a cop-out), it still feels wrong for me, because it seems like the MC falls for the guy for no other reason than he's smoking hot--very superficial stuff.

I mean, I guess it's not *that* bad when they're just holding hands and crap but then they started kissing and making out and 2nd/3rd base and shit and urghhhhhh......... it's just wrong.

And yes, I find it extremely hard to believe that the dude doesn't recognize her, although if what thesaucetastic said is true then I guess that'd explain it. Don't know whether I will be able to follow it through the end though since the sense of wrongness is so pervasive in my mind towards it.
I ended up reading it last night.

It seems like the MC falls for him because she misses being close to him like they used to be, before he moved in. I'm pretty sure the dude was in love with her the entire time, but was trying to use other girls to forget about her after they ended up as siblings. This is bullshit on MC's part though, because she totally could have had a functional, platonic bond with him if she ever even bothered to try pre-faking. I think her brother's pretty fucked up though, he seriously couldn't move on after all those years? Not to mention he basically forced her to be with him through guilt.

And he definitely recognizes her and knows it's her. She stays over as his sister and tries to seduce him (seriously, what), and he takes out his pent up lust on her when she returns as his girlfriend.

tl;dr this manga is gross.

(...i only got Shokugeki for Megumi on the cover)
Good man.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun (long, but amazing)
Vahlia no Hanamuko (4 oneshots, first one is the best)
Nemuru Machi no Futari (oneshot)
Strong Chase Weak Animato (oneshot)
Hanseishite Kameda-kun (oneshot)
Boku no Kotori-san (oneshot)
Petite Peche (2 chapters)
Yotteke! Otoko Mura (4 chapters)
Hakamori Majo Bianca (5 chapters)
Kami-sama ga Uso o Tsuku. (5 or 6 chapters)
Shinonome Yuuko wa Tanpen Shousetsu o Aishite Iru (11 chapters, based on a LN)
Ootagawa Junjou Lovers (4 chapters + a oneshot)
Atashi no Banbi (3 chapters, same author as above)
Sugars (compilation of oneshots, first volume isn't as great as the other)
Okobore Hime to Entaku no Kishi (based on a LN, I think 10ish chapters?)
Vivid Cherry (4 chapters)
Junjou Drop (4 chapters)

Was their catch up feature a good summary?

It was pretty good. Left out some character details that are important, but that was kind of necessary. I posted one particularly relevant detail they missed in the Jump comments if you're interested

Also, I made a mistake in my last post, since I misread the scanlation version as "more than two" when it actually said "two or more", so they both said the same thing

Food Wars 105

I hope he tells us what Taku is doing, starting to lose count of the last time we saw him in a substantial role in a chapter. He cant still be depressed. As Soma's one true rival he should be around more.

Kurokiba Ryou and Soma continue to give me lots of laughs in their roles.

My guess is that Takumi isn't important anymore.

Fuuka 50

Still don't care for the battle of bands, but hey Tama's back!

Yuu is a moron for not being able to see through her words, especially since she said in the past she was writing for him.

Have to wonder if she'll join up the band.

I wonder if the cancellation rates of these past two years are normal.

Just about, at least looking through Wikipedia.
Take 1997, the year One Piece started.
There were 13 new series, only 4 of them lasted more than a year (granted, one was a post-DB Toriyama series so that's probably not fair to count).

2012:
12 new series, only 4 are still going.
