I read like the first 20 chapters, not enough smut, I left it in my backlog.
Ahhhhh, I hated the smut cause it was just dumb and poorly placed in the manga.

Well since Shinohara is there, you can tell the hospital is pretty high tech since he's on life support so all we can tell is that the person is gravely injured.
Since a ghoul investigator is there, I can only imagine its someone who's dealt with ghouls... Possibly Kaneki's best friend? We have no idea what's happened to him, he probably got eaten by Kaneki since he has taste of blood during the last few chapters but survived to the point of recovering from his injuries. Possibly suffered some brain damage or is incapacitated to some extent.
Yeah, and that promise means a lot more now that Shin is intent on unifying China under Sei's rulership.
Yeah, I think Kyō Kai is keeping the minions in line at the homestead whilst her man is out to save the king's ass again. I know it's not a huge focus of the manga, but these two are a legit power couple. He's got 5k men, she's got 3k. When he gets the bump to general, he'll probably get an additional 5k men, making it a total of 13k. I wonder much larger the Hi Shin Unit is going to get.

I guess there's self-created book club reading on Punpun.
I found Boys on the Run to be more "rage worthy" than Punpun, the latter gave me a wider range of emotions. Of course that should still go for some fun reactions.

Just a repeat: is Area D worth reading? Art looks great, concept looks sound, but the last manga like I read was Tokyo ESP and that turned to shit.

Huh I didn't think the first couple of volumes were really weird/depressing. Just felt like slice of life with a bird.
I like to think that my wall of text contributed somewhat to it.
Punpun is indeed nowhere as rage-inducing as Boys on the Run, but both are tough reads, emotional rollercoasters that are fairly grounded in reality.
Boys on the Run is still stuck in translation hell...
The crudely-drawn bird for protagonist is protably one of the biggest deterrents that prevents people from reading Punpun, which is a shame, because it works so well at conveying the various emotions the protagonist experiences through its minimalism.

It's disappointing that people would pass on the series over Punpun drawing, especially since it really helps makes the experience whole.
Nah it didn't bother me that much. Just thought "Well, that sucks" but that's about it. It's reaaaaaaally tame compared to later volumes.

I'd say it's partly due to the peculiar narration centered around Punpun, but really the manga is worth reading for the way it subverts the medium alone.

I think the mangaka is going to slow down on Shin's exponential soldier units increase and instead focus Shin on other missions outside of Qin (him leading a campaign)
I also fear in the future that Kyoukai could follow a similar scenario comparable to that other female general that Ouki loved

Luckily happiness is a part of living too. I'll drench myself in happiness after I'm done with my reading session.
That's probably it. I don't know if this will change later down the road, but given the fact the protagonist is depicted as a penguin of all things, I'm not anchored to that character alone, so my experience is really, more than with any other manga I can think of, as a bystander. If that makes any sense at all. I'm only a few chapters in though. Gonna continue reading tomorrow.
I'd be quite happy if the Hi Shin Unit directly under Shin's command numbered no more than 10k. I've always enjoyed the fact they're a bunch of marauding badasses that pretty go where they please unless they have orders to follow. I also think he'll be allowed to direct a campaign down the line, which should be interesting if that comes to pass. His talent as a natural-type general awoke during the Coalition War Arc in such an awesome way, I can't wait to see how much he can grow.
I think Kyō Kai is pretty safe in terms of surviving till the very end. She's had some very near death experiences, almost too many for her to actually die now.
That being said, the Shin we saw in chapter 1 seems considerably older and hardened than current Shin, so I guess he could still lose someone important to him. The closest people to him right now are Ka Ryō Ten, Ei Sei and Kyō Kai. I'm thinking it might be a little too on the nose if he lost Kyō Kai like Ō Ki lost Kyō. I would at least expect Kyō Kai to reach the rank of general if she is going to die, by which time whatever it is she has with Shin will probably, I hope, materialise into something more substantial.

Certain parts of Punpun hit me pretty hard for that reason too. There was one point later on that hit me right in something I thought I'd left behind and I just cried and cried.
Other people don't seem to have anything remotely similar to that reaction though, but honestly Punpun made me feel. It's my favourite manga.
