#IDARB is coming to Xbox One!!!!! February on Games with Gold

another 8bit game with gold. I just cant get into these games anymore with my limited time and the amount of AAA games out there.

I was legitimately laughing at the beginning of that trailer. It's odd why they'd announce a GwG game this early in the month, let alone one for two months from now.

Why would it mean that? Pretty sure it was the developer who announced this, not MS.

Why wouldn't we? It just seems like they wanted to put out a launch trailer and let people know it'll be free with gold when it does launch.

Game looks good interesting enough for $free.99.

Ugh, I hope it doesn't.

Very much doubt it, though I do agree it's weird. Why announce February's game before January?

I know it's the developers that said it but you'd think it'd be up to MS to announce it, I think this is the first time ever a developer has announced their game is going gwg/PS+

Anyways, game doesn't look like it's for me but I'll give it a try anyway..

Chris nailed it on the head, found it strange they'd announce a GwG two months in advance.

I expect we will get a GwG in January, but this the first time I've seen a developer announce their game is going to be GwG before MS or even Sony with their + line up.

Nah, we'll get something for January.
The Escapists would be awesome but I don't know if the game is ready yet.

Tell me more about this The Escapists. Sounds stealthy.

I saw the Giantbomb quick look and this looked amazing. I havent been following closely, since this is the GwG/launch trailer, is this a full exclusive or a timed one for Microsoft? If it is a full blow one, I am jealous as this looks so fun.

I just finished listening to the (somewhat) recent Back in My Play podcast with Mike Mika as the guest. Mika is one of the game's creators and his enthusiasm for the #IDARB is very real. BTW, Mika is an incredible podcast guest.

Psyched! Probably would have bought it anyway but this is even better.

Agreed, very odd to announce February GwG before January... and here I was hoping for 2 games in January.

#IDARB THREAD MICRO FAQ

Q) Why did Other Ocean announce the game now / early / without Microsoft's permission
A) After we set the release date together Other Ocean was like "can we announce it now and start giving out codes to our supporters?" And we (Microsoft) were like "Hmmm... no one has done that before. Sure, why not?" It feels in line with the crowd-sourced nature of the game.

Q) Will there be a GwG game in January?
A) Yes

Q) Is it local only?
A) No, supports multiplayer over Live. It is couch-to-couch, meaning it only supports 2 Xboxes simultaneously, but up to 8 players in any combination (1 person on Xbox A and 7 people on Xbox B, 4 and 4, etc.).

Q) Is this the one where you can use Twitch or Twitter to grief your friends?
A) Yes, but you can also turn that off if you want to play in peace.

Q that no one asked) Is this the first Xbox game to support unlockable recipe cards by game industry people?
A) As far as we know, yes.

Speak up more often Chris Charla, you are the face of this whole thing. Also, hire someone to update the ID@xbox portal on xbox.com. I swear ya'll haven't updated that in 4 months. It's like ID@xbox is simply an avenue to release late ass ports.

The portal works really well for submitting content but is extremely broken on the back end for updating stories, sorry. All our web development efforts have gone into automating stuff for the devs, versus the news/updates side -- kind of lame, but we had to prioritize. We're addressing that now and revamping the whole site.

When a developer announces their game is up to them, but I can say that there are hundreds of games in development for Xbox One right now from developers in the ID program.

You probably can't say, but are any of those the indie games that were announced at PSX?

Killing Floor 2, The Forest, etc.

I only checked because I care. Checking the twitter feed, it's obvious progress is being made by a lot of devs, but it just seems sorta secondary at this point. Like it's a special little avenue or silo for games that seems unnecessary. Like i wouldn't even know that Pure Pool was a self published game if it weren't for the twitter feed (and why would I even care as a consumer?). I know you have stuff coming but you either need a bigger spotlight or you need to actually get the devs to talk about it.

Ah, shame. This really limits how much mileage I'll get out of it. Was really hoping to play together with friends via online.

As slim as the odds are I hope maybe full matchmaking is something they can add through post-release support.

Make this the standard Xbox One feature. Cocktail recipes, too.

Thanks for the answers.

Banner Saga was confirmed the other day (yes, the first game), so yes.

Seeing this makes me feel so warm inside somehow.

Little SWERY is cute, but no Sharapova???

What you quoted says it is online :/

Yeah, couch vs. couch though.

My friends that I play with aren't close enough to me for multiplayer on the same Xbox. So if say, I wanted to play with them on my team in online multiplayer I'm not able to do that.

Yeah, only two Xboxes at a time. 1 v 1 is hella fun though.

hehe I owned a guy on this last night 34 : 2

Glad I got hold of it, I really enjoyed it when I played it at Gamescom, some of the sound clips it spits out will make you spit your drink out
