I had a perfect connection last night. Connected instantly, sent club invites, got points for my club, played online w/ voice, and signed off.

If anyone's curious, Driveclub talk starts at 1h:58m.

Man alive, did DriveClub touch him somewhere they shouldn't have? I can't believe he's reiterating driving being an issue with DC. I'm fussy when it comes to driving games (I was pretty much PGR and GT exclusive last gen) due to hating the handling model in most games (NFS, Grid, Dirt, etc) but DC for me has a great handling model.

Especially if all the cars feel different in terms of control. If anything it should be a positive.

I could understand if it was doing something odd, something out of the ordinary. But it feels fairly similar to plenty of other racing games in the past. If you like racing games I honestly don't know how you'd hate the model in this so much. And if you don't like racing games, why would you review two in a row?

Yeah I suck at driving game but even I have gotten better, the driving is fantastic to me.

Soooo did you guys listen to the latest Giantbomb podcast?

Yeah Jeff is a bonehead.

Greg Miller is just as bad on the last 2 Beyond podcasts! The whole cast for that matter. Not sure how people that don't like or play racing games can even open there mouth? I don't like RPG games but I'm not going to bash a type of game because its not my thing!

GT6 is my current favorite racing game but driveclub is right up there. Even with the game not 100% yet.

The online features have worked since Sunday for me. I have not tried racing online, but I have all the club stuff.

After becoming obsessed with the leaderboards over the past few days, I am very happy this game doesn't have any tuning or assists to adjust. Pure skill dictates whether you can get around the track faster than everyone else.

I thought the Beyond guys said some reasonable and respectable things towards DC and Revolution. They've bashed it in the past, but they were truley upset that the server stuff was happening to a talented group. They even mentioned how DC is even getting good reviews. But they realize that GT7 is coming, and DC has a short window to get everything right before GT7 is released.

Was able to get online last night and contribute to the club. Dropped connection for about 10 seconds and then came back on. Slow but steady progress I guess.

Yeah I love that as well. Everybody gets the same shit for the most part. A friend and gaffer referred to it as kinda being like Counterstrike in that way, only with cars.

I've started using the cockpit view with no OSD and it has really improved my driving, also the experience is more immersive. I was probably getting distracted by the various info/maps and being distracted for even a split-second is a recipe for disaster (especially with the faster cars).

Had some luck with online last night and spent a couple of hours doing team races. Great fun, even heard some ridiculously over-the-top arguing between two players :D

Anyways, my club Driver Down is at level 12 and still has 3 free slots so join if you're looking for a club :)

I'm more "disappointed" in Brad (& the others) tbh. Would have liked to hear their impressions, whatever those are, and maybe even some usual Bombcast debate but all Brad had to say to Jeff's complaints was an "Indeed" and that was it for Driveclub talk. Maybe Drew will have more thoughts on the game when he gets back on the Cast.

We are gonna have a blast with challenges. Can't wait!

Id be shocked to have a rumored release date for gt7 this time next year, gt7 has nothing to do with DC.

You're right they don't have anything to do with one another. Although, they are both racing games exclusive to the SONY. And lots of peeps are waiting for GT7. DC seems to be fantastic game that comes across more like a social racing service. Sony needs to sell it that way. I cannot wait to play once all the features are implemented.

It's not that ridiculous. If you generally don't go into your Garage, and instead just pick a car before each race in the career, it's really, really easy to think that there's just the one factory color and your custom paint jobs are totally pre-set. They don't make it obvious at all where to find those options.
If you're reviewing a game, you'd think you'd be going through every single setting and option in a game to see what's available.

The more I play this the more confused I am by the bad reviews. This is probably the most fun racer I've played in years. I can't stop even when I'm tired. Decided to try to beat a certain race and once that was done I was going to go to bed... 2 hours later I realized I was still playing and doing a Drift event over and over until I got the highest score needed.

I don't care if its a critical failure, I don't care if its a failure overall. I'm just happy to have a great racer in my hands since they're are so few great ones now.

Got a message from Playstation on PSN about preorder cars with apologies and a voucher.
Can't redeem it right now because I'm at work though.

Grrrr.. I was waiting to try the PS+ version before buying the game but I keep reading all this great feedback from you guys and I am thinking of taking the plunge and buying the full version tonight.

I would appreciate your thoughts on that. I mostly like arcade racers (enjoyed Burnout Paradise, DIRT a lot, Wipeout HD being the top for me) but I also enjoyed GT5, it's great fun to drive all the Alfa Romeo cars I could never afford. On the other hand, I found NFS:Most wanted and GRID 2 very boring. Should I take the plunge or wait for the PS+ version?

This is another thing reviewers missed the point on.

I'll let someone that has experience with Burnout, DiRT and Wipeout to weigh in but this is my first racing game since GT5 and I definitely don't find it boring.

Awesome, I was going to play last night but had a ton of other stuff to do, and games fell by the wayside. I'll check it out tonight!

We have similar tastes. And this is my personal GOTY. :)

Bear in mind that there will be a lot of frustration around the online situation. If you can look past that, then I highly recommend it. If not, then you are better off waiting till it's fixed
