Going to get my ass kicked in For Glory for a bit I think. Was working on the "Target Blast with every character" challenge, but man is that mode boring as fuck. Probably the only part of the game I'm a little meh on, I even like Smash Run.

You guys know Shulk can cancel any landing lag on his aerials if he selects a Monado art before he preforming an aerial attack? The Monado activation cancels any lag and you can preform any move straight after your aerial attack. F-air to grab is awesome.

Yeah, found out about that yesterday. Practicing working it into my game now because that's a huge advantage.

Does it make me a bad person if I take a sadistic pleasure in edge guarding with G&W's chef move at just the right distance so that if they try rolling back on stage they get hit by the pan and knocked back into the food or otherwise just struggle to stay on the ledge? I'm going to go with no beings that I'm the only person in For Glory playing Game & Watch.

OMG, just read about that that new Link advance tech with his bombs. (Toon Link and Peach too, but no one cares about those). Someone hold me and tell me this is not a dream. Is he really not going to be trash tier this time around? :')
Not sure if I saw this or not. Can you elaborate?
Will the omega variants be tournament legal? I saw some popular competitive player saying they shouldn't. Wonder why.
The only reason not to have them is that it creates a big stage list that's mostly filled with stages that benefit the same characters. But all those stages also have slight differences, mainly the extended walls on the main platform in some. This means we probably can't use the same striking/bans methodology we used before.

Personally I think we should treat FD+Ω stages as one for bans/counterpicks, but make them all legal. Tournament ruleset stuff is all still up in the air though. I think most are leaving them off and just using FD + Battlefield + Yoshi's for simplicity so far. We probably won't have an official 3DS ruleset actually, since the Wii U should be a lot better for local play.
I kinda think he's being ridiculous here.

"something something online matters in anyway something"

But that's kinda separate from his view of glorious stages. What he's getting at there is that it offers a lot of complication in picking stages I guess. Like trying to remember which has what kind of edges for banning. But there's also the issue that it puts a lot of strength toward whoever is good on FD. You stop them from going to one FD variant, and they have 20 more left.

Reached 60% winrate with Shulk in ranked. Need help deciding another main.

Pacman, sonic, or Kirby?
Sonic is incredibly fun in my experience, but he's hard to use right. You gotta know the differences of side b and down b and what situations they're good for specifically.

If you're willing to put the work with him, he's pretty awesome.

I've been playing the series since the original and this new portable iteration doesn't really do it for me to be honest. 1 on 1 is passable but 4 man is too hard on the eyes and the circle pad just doesn't cut it.

Past those problems the game/engine or whatever is fantastic and I can't wait for the Wii U version.

God, the more I try to play Smash Run the more I hate it.

It is by far the least fun game mode in any smash bros game, ever. FUCK.

Aw man.

I think I enjoy it more than the SSE, but I'm not sure. The 1:00 timer on the final challenge takes the wind out the whole thing's sails. It seems like a majority of the time it's just a "ffa smash" too, when the other challenges are more interesting to me (the race is hilarious). At least movement isn't completely neutered like it was in the SSE, and it actually improves with the stats you collect.

I hate it when people go easy on me, tbh. It just tells me that you don't respect the effort I'm putting into my play, and that you don't take me seriously at all. I'd rather lose a hundred times and learn something than be handed a win and be rewarded for bad habits because I'm being pitied. And hopefully I can teach people I face online about a new thing about my character or force them to improve their game, as well.

Taunts are alright, too. I don't really see them as provocative, or whatever because you probably deserve that taunt if you're using it after a KO. It's just a little celebration. I actually sort of wish that the text bubble didn't just show up in a For Friends game because while there would probably be a lot of Hurt Feelings, it'd be nice to have some way of conveying 'good game' or 'thanks' to another player.

I main Robin so I don't usually have the opportunity to Taunt, but when I use my secondary (Wario) I constantly spam the taunt. It has the dual benefit of being exhilarating for the player, and infuriating for the opponent. An enraged opponent is more liable to play recklessly, so there are some competitive merits to throwing them out as well. As a bonus, Wario's bike taunt isn't affected by the taunt limit, so you can spam it to your hearts content.
I tried starting a match (after losing the past few matches) with a 'tip to tip the scales' taunt and my opponent knocked me out of it before I could finish. :(

No honour in For Glory!

I don't get the finale at all. 1 minute is way too short, especially after a 5 minute build up.

What is this tech?

Also, this is FOR GLORY, this isn't FOR NICEY. I play to win, not to make best buddy pals for good times.

I'm quite the opposite, friend.

I'm going to take it easy on GAF so no one hates me. And remember, if you beat me, it's because I'm taking it easy on you. Wouldn't want to 2 stock you too hard.

I say the main issues are
- When things are zoomed out, you are already straining your eyes on the small screen. It can be hard to keep track of yourself (I have died not realizing I was off the edge before).
- Circle Pro Pad does not compare to a true analog stick
- Most of the roster is great, some are not. Some challenges require you to use everyone. This can be a problem.
- Local Play has wireless interfere issues
- Online Play sometimes has input delay (but still better than Brawl ever was)
- Lacking in mode selection

Some things the Wii U will fix (better controller and huge screen, local play is not wireless, can plug in internet on Wii U).
For other issues, it really depends on how much the Wii U version does.

Edit: I know this post comes off negative, but I love the 3DS version. I am just pointing out on flaws that keeps me from 5/5.

We both finally have the ability to play each other, my evil twin. Soon we'll fight each other.

What's roll cancel grab?

You can cancel a roll into a grab by pressing R and A immediately after you start. You should see the little spark of light indicating that we've 'rolled' but you teleport ahead further and grab out of it. I would have preferred to call it 'instant transmission grab' but hey, I don't make names. It's a major boon for characters with otherwise poor grab ranges.

I go easy on people all the time. By using Mega Man, I definitely am. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Should be noted that you can't do this out of shield. You have to do a roll without the shield going up.

I think they should have cut most Smash mode challenges and kept Enemy Team, 300% Damage Smash (because it is hilarious), Run, and Climb.
They could have been creative and made different Run and Climb courses. They could have even done things like Metal Smash or Giant Smash to mix it up.

Interesting, wonder if this will kill my circle pad lol. Thanks for the link!

My brother did this to me in Brawl. He was a much stronger player and mained a stronger character to boot, so I pretty much lost 99% of the time. In his defense, I was an irritable type who demanded a rematch after losing a match. Regardless, I was pretty steamed when it dawned on me that he started holding back haha.

No honour in For Glory!

Anyone who refuses to tip the scales with me is an enemy of mine.

I always tear people apart if they taunt at the start. :-)

That said, I like your general perspective and agree. The only thing that really bothers me is teabagging. Yes, someone teabagged me once after taking a stock. Then I won and left the room.

I like that Friend matches let you add text, but I haven't decided on everything I want to do. I use my taunts in different situations because Bowser's all feel so different.

Down Taunt: LOL, that was a stupid way to die.
Up Taunt: That was goddamn awesome.
Left/Right Taunt: I am irritated with your lag.

So its safe to say that you're not the one lagging when you go for 5 or 6 games with no significant lag and then have a string of games with a bunch of it right
