because most people are dumb :P
Well I'd consider them clones if I were to use Smash terms just because of the base moveset personally. Doesn't mean I don't know they have different frame data/normals/Ultras/playstyle/etc. But it's arguing semantics on what defines a clone when really the important issue is, if they recycle move animations, is the new character providing the game with a different playstyle to add both padding AND variety to the game? For Smash I think most of the clones do this.

Anyway is there a write up or WIP write up on the full list of differences of Pit/Dark Pit?

Guys I just went up against the scariest fucking Sheik I've seen in my life. Now I consider myself decent at smash 3DS by now. Enough to put up a good fight. But I went up against this guy three times and only got one stock from him total. IT FELT LIKE HE WAS USING A FUCKING GAMECUBE CONTROLLER, HE WAS MOVING TOO FAST. I just can't man. Like holy fuck my Yoshi couldn't do anything. If any of you guys meet a Sheik player named David prepare yourself.

Feels like I'm missing something with bowser Jr side B. Just learned it can jump though.

Something I also learned: sheik's grenade can be rope tethered and detonated later!

I swear there will not be a time when I fight Shulk and don't underestimate the active frames on his counter. It lasts so damn long!

I'm finally getting back into the groove of playing Marcina. I mained Marth in Melee and Brawl, but I was really rusty going into this game. Still miss my C-stick though. :<

Also, I have yet to face a Little Mac in For Glory. Weird!

Some Wii Fit Trainer info from me:

Good writeup. I'll share a few cents regarding some attacks as well:

F-Smash is great, however, I feel its usefulness is on a character by character basis. I had multiple matches with Yoshi in which he ducks under your f-smash's hitbox if you try to punish some of his tilts or d-smash.

I actually find the up-air to be a great follow-up to launched opponents. It comes out rather quick, so hopping up last minute and sweet-spotting the up-air can lead to some early kills.

I feel like the d-smash is my default smash attack for most scenarios. While it has slightly shorter range than f-smash, it suffers from less lag, making it prime for catching dodge-rolls.

WFT's d-tilt is hilarious in itself, but it does fair damage (~12%?), and is a good follow-up to your jab-ender planting opponents into the ground.

Can someone outline the differences between Lucina and Marth? Is only the damage distribution on the sword moves different, or do they also have different speeds, etc.? Also, is it just my imagination, or does Lucina have a different Shield Breaker animation?

There aren't many characters who talk shit in Smash. I agree.

Somewhat related I like when the more snarky victory comments come up suitably when my opponent suicides in their attempts to beat me.
Fave three in this event
Ike: You'll get no sympathy from me
Palutena: Too bad for you
Dark Pit: Can't help but feel sorry for you
Puts a shit eating grin on my face.

Asking again, anyone here play bowser jr? If so, tips or a good info in how to play him would help a lot!
I do from time to time, but I'm not great with him. Best advice I could give is that down tilt works great for punishing rolls.

Oh, and don't be afraid to use Down B!

I feel like Sakurai only added Dark Pit as a separate character so he could give him a cool victory theme.
Well he added Dr Mario originally just to add his theme (and then added the themes of other games that didn't have fighters…) so that is possible.

I play Ludwig. Basically dash A with the saw is really good and long, and if you can pull off something like hitting him with the hammer after a B+up when you're in the air after he gets launched by the explosion then it feels pretty badass and can equal a KO with low damage

im just having fun with it and it's of course an unexpected character to most people so it works, can't offer much advice

Dark Pit has less arrow control but stronger arrows (his arrows are not faster or slower)
Dark Pit's Side-B does 0.5% more damage and launches at a diagonal angle instead of Pit's directly upward angle
Final Smashes

Definitely the best clone we have ever got.

Good for me. Pit is the best character in the game anyways. It's kinda hard to change perfection. So satisfying KOing people with Electroshock.

- Always have a Mecha Koopa on the field!
- Use cannonballs to force recovering opponents to jump early
- Jab, jab, jab with the boxing gloves if you need space
- Dash attack (buzzsaw) is good approach option
- Drills (forward smash) are great kill move
- Can KO by dropping car on opponents with Up Special
- Can KO by swinging hammer while free-falling after using Up Special
- Can KO with the Side Special and use it as horizontal recovery
- Side Special can be linked into Up Special for extended recovery

Will start using that down tilt and will make use of down B more!

Ya I've nailed that on ppl before, shits so fun to do! my game plan atm is use up B a lot and fish for hammers, sometimes go kart it up as well lmao

Ayeeee that's what I'm talking about, thank you!

Does anyone else feel kind of bad when you spam certain moves online? I've gotten pretty good with Shulk, but my strategy pretty much involves using backslash over and over again. It seems like people always quit on me if I play as Shulk for my first match with them, and I'm not sure it's because they hate me or the connection is laggy.

I was annoyed once by a Shulk who mainly just countered. You can work around such tactics but it just makes for a dull match overall.

There was also a psycho Ike who constantly did his Side Special, Up Special and Counter and nothing else. After a while I learned to bait him into his Side Special and stunned him with Zero Suit's Paralyzer.

I've unlocked Falco, Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, R.O.B., Ganondorf, Lucina, Jigglypuff, Duck Hunt and Bowser Jr. (I never used Bowser once), in that order.

Yet I somehow haven't unlocked Ness. pls help

It's legit, the guy they reference there, dekunukem, is somewhat well known for pulling off crazy modding magic like this.
Awesome then.
Yeeeeees, getting closer to not being insane to do.
No matter how convenient, it still seems like it'll always be a bit crazy to do when 1.5 months later we're getting official support for the GCN pad. If not for the Wii U version though, I'd be seriously studying how to follow the guide and make this happen.

I have no idea how I got Ness so early. I just played a couple of solo matches and then it said challenger approaching or whatever. Didn't really play any other side game when I first got it.

Trying to get the "Place First with Every Character in Smash Run," and man, I suuuuuuuuuuuuck with Rosalina. It look 4 tries while I haven't not won yet with any other character. I just don't get how she works.

Also Wii Fit Trainer can crouch under some projectiles like Megaman's lemons.

Beats, what can I do against the Sweeping Sun Salutation and Volatile Breathing? It seems I have to hit you out of Volatile Breathing before you complete it, but sometimes you have armor. Sweeping Sun Salutation just destroys me. Possibly the best projectile in the game.

For Sweeping Sun Salutation, I'm not sure what you can do. I would say don't let me charge it, but if I get you off stage it's generally a free full charge. Maybe don't shield it on stage at least but roll through it towards me? I don't know if that will work well since I could probably punish the roll with a dash attack. Volatile Breathing is hard to deal with because I usually use it in the air while my opponent is still on the ground and far away from me. I would just stay away from WFT when she's about to do it in the air since you can't really punish after the explosion, but that gives her more breathing room to toss out projectiles. I actually don't know how the armor works on it. It's weird.

Maybe I'll see their weaknesses eventually if I play more people. Characters with a reflector definitely mitigates my usage of Sweeping Sun Salutation.

Oh yeah, I hate that F-smash can miss like that lol. Hmm, maybe I'll chase with up-air more often after I launch the opponent.

If it works and you're having fun doing the same move then keep doing it, but if the opponent starts learning then switch it up.

Well, I don't know what you're doing now to unlock characters. But beat Classic mode? If you've done that, then you might just need to play a match of Smash mode and after the match you'll get the challenge. And by that, I just mean that if you've already triggered the condition for their "Challenger Approaches" scenario, then they'll appear after every Smash match that you play. Even just jumping off the platform in a one-stock against the CPU will trigger the fight.

If it works, do it. That being said, back slash is unsafe as hell so if you're playing good players they'll either block/roll on reaction and punish, or it's jusy laggy, lol.
