This game is rapidly becoming not fun. It's either one sided in my favor and very unsatisfying or they're so good I basically don't get to play. Kinda considering trading it back in. :/

It's okay to suck at 1v1. FFA is the superior choice anyways. Everyone wins there because it's always for fun!

Japan made a list

Much, much better than the Event Hubs list, but still some questionable placements.

Way too early for a good tier list, but not bad for right now

ew Sonic

I feel like Bowser Jr should be B tier

then again it's probably the novelty that gets some of the moves to work a lot

maybe it's just the ruleset they're playing or whatever, but i really think a lot of the ones in D are way lower than they should be

then again i'm not about to start arguing with a tier list for a game that's only a month old and still receiving updates.

though ganon will probably stay there

:l

edit - he actually has some really cool stuff that probably doesn't matter because of his slow speed and lack of projectiles. Uair, Fair, and Bair are all great. Ftilt and Dtilt are quite remarkable. Forward B and Down B can totally catch people. He just has a hard time putting them all together.

So, the impressions that no one was asking for! My thoughts on the second best Goddess Palutena.

ESSENTIAL COMPETITIVE TIP: Viridi colour alt is the best one. Medusa colour palette users should be scorned.

Thanks for posting these! As a devout worshipper of the Goddess of Light
and a more devout worshipper of Viridi
, I was really eager to test out Palutena, and I've been playing a lot of her both on- and offline. Her tilts are horribly laggy and just begging to be shielded. Likewise, her Smashes are slow (particularly FSmash and DSmash), but USmash is brilliant.

Regarding her aerials, though, I've found that UAir is surprisingly good as a kill move because of its multi-hit nature and solid knockback. (Granted, it can be difficult to land, but it's a good option.) Likewise, her NAir has a relatively long-lasting hitbox that can still strike opponents who thought a simple air dodge would be enough. I haven't experimented much with her custom specials yet, but everyone has been praising Jump Glide, so I might have to give it a shot. Thanks again! :D

I don't plan on maining Palutena or Rosalina., but I'm planning on setting aside a day or two to learn the basics. Can't get a hold of those two.

Well shit you're on another level compared to me even with my mains lol. I still need more practice I guess. GGs

Great games! Thanks for playing! Is Yoshi your main? He's definitely a scary fight! We'll have to play again some time!

I've still got a little time left to play if anyone else would like to do some 1v1s.

Wait, do customizable moves only drop from classic?

Do online games for glory count towards vs mode requirements for character unlocks?

Nice writeup, I had a similar experience with her myself. She definitely didn't live up to hype, but I also didn't to give her up either. She's pretty frustrating to play at times, but she's undeniably got her appeal as well (You're kicking ass with Palutena; what's not to love?). Hopefully tournament organizers make a special exception for her and allow the use of her custom specials.

The God's honest truth right there.

With Palutena, I spam neutral special and forward special like a mad man, and then then punish with her strong normals. Her run speed is incredible, too. Same for recovery,

So question: if your opponent drops in an online match, do they get replaced with a computer player? Because several times I've noticed extremely lagginess, then suddenly everything's fine but the person I was playing against becomes very different in terms of playstyle and I almost always win, usually by a pretty heavy margin.

It's way too early for this but as someone who has been wrecking with Ike online I agree with his placement.

ike online is so weird for me. his attacks are so telegraph and predictable that i think i can just airdodge them, but i cant for whatever reason and always end up dead at ~80%

Reading through several pages of this thread and there's little to no complaints about the online play.

Should I see that as anecdotal or factual? Does the online actually work the way that all Smash Bros. players wanted and hoped for? Or are there still issues?

I'm really thinking about re-buying a 3DS for this. I'm already planning on buying a Wii U for the console version but I'm not sure if I can wait that long.

It's spotty but you can definitely have decent matches.

Yeah I've noticed that. People don't like to air dodge off the edge vs. my obvious incoming fairs. You can be tricky with him though. You can bait the air dodge then Uair and his Nair comes out fast and has a huge hit box. Bair is also super fast but you need to be sneaky with lining it up. Often times I just bait the air dodge with a jump and just fast fall first and jab them

The tier list is far from concrete, but things wont mix up that much. Maybe 2 or 3 characters make drastic movements, and a bunch of others will make minor movements up or down one tier, but generally fairly accurate.

And it does remind me how much Olimar sucks in this game. Guy used to be B tier in brawl, but he is clearly D tier here. So with Olimar sucking and ice climbers gone, that's 2 of my 3 mains gone. At least Pit seems decent enough still.

Oh well, new game means new mains I guess.

All the characters I have played the most are pretty high (Bowser, Lucario, and Greninja). This is pretty surprising considering I hardly see anyone else playing these characters, with the odd Bowser or Greninja. A lot of the other characters that are high up I have also hardly seen. The characters I see most are Little Mac, Sheik, and ZSS. The best player I played against dominated me with Samus, and yet she is on the bottom :/ I thought Sakurai said internal testing suggested Samus was the best, or at least at the time of E3.
