This happens the most to me with greninja.

Keeps happening here. Fortunately, once you develop an awareness for it you can often still recover from the mistake as the Up B travels a long vertical distance.

gg jrDev. As of right now youre a far better little mac than me and hell some of my other better characters too. Now I see how other people feel when they play me online. Good shit.

so, am i the only one who absolutely loves robin?
Definitely not. Robin is awesome. Amazing aerials, ridiculously good (and fast) projectiles and zoning options, above-average dash attack, good shield pressure (via Arcfire), strong edgeguard tools, and fairly fast smash attacks. If only s/he had a better grab-range and Nosferatu were a little more practical than they'd be my ideal character in absolutely every respect. If Robin didn't have to manage those tomes and sword uses, s/he'd be fucking unstoppable.

Best character in SSB4 by far.

Almost got the first challenge page done. Just need 10 powers in Smash Run one.

Also think I'm going to make a checklist to know when I've beaten Classic, All-Star, and Smash Run with each character. Would make the smashing fun and orderly instead of having to remember what I've done. Gotta complete those challenges!

A message pops up when you've beaten Classic with every character except the Miis. I'm guessing the same happens in All-Star and Smash Run.

I just realized a trick for Cruel Melee:
- Pick Shulk
- Down + B to counter when they attack
- Press forward to do more damage

With luck, you should get 4 in one swing (which I did).

Edit: 50 hours of Smash? So tempted to hammer that one.

It tells you if you completed whatever mode with any character if you hover over them in the CSS.

My two tricks:

1: Pick Lucina
Spam Counter

I got 3 kills with her.

2: ZSS

tether with her whip and some idiotic Mii brawlers will fall into their death. It should give you 2 deaths (which is what you want for that challenge)

It actually only gives you their high score, doesn't say anything about completion (or placing first, in Smash Run's case). Not as useful as it appears on first glance.

Damn, I hung on the ledge and kept up specialing and up airing through the stage as Ganon, it took a little bit, but it worked.

Pretty much everyone with counter that returns back a much stronger attack power works. I did 5 kills with Ike and 4 kills with Marth.

Oh yeah, you are right. I am going to have to make a checklist for the Smash Run challenge (or hammer it). At least Classic and All-Star tells you if you beat it.

i really liked the managing of tomes/sword attacks.

It makes you play better by not wasting moves into the air (like, 90% of the time in this game)

How's the game with a standard 3DS? I'm curious how it's going to play since I've only used primarily a Gamecube controller for Smash games so I feel like I might be out of my comfort zone with it. The 3DS itself is a bit small for my hands so prolonged play tends to make me really sore/lose bloodflow after a while.

I'm 0-8 in For Glory so far. I wish we had a proper online system that matches you against opponents of your caliber. :(

Also is there a list anywhere out there of custom stuff you can unlock? Moves and items and such? I feel like that would be a worthwhile thing to have too. I am thinking way too hard about bringing order to Smash Bros.

I am so terrible at this game, but I can't help but be impressed with the people that aren't. I can't play without feeling like I'm fighting against the controls the entire time (oh the times I've tried to up B but up Y'd instead, for example), so it's actually kind of cool to see people who are able to use the shoulder buttons correctly and actually shield and roll to avoid attacks and then punish. Just played a guy that I beat when he used Robin and someone else, but then he swapped to Greninja and pretty much dominated me.

Eventually, you get used to it. I've played the demo so much that I ended up quite used to the controls.

What is truly annoying is this:

I can't count how many times I've lost a stock because it interpreted my Up+B as a Side+B and vice versa.

It happens waaay to much. It is more of a 3DS problem, though. The game is in no way unplayable, but it is far from perfect.

Got this on Friday night and have been playing all weekend; it's excellent! Couple of questions from a heretofore casual Smash player:

1.) Is it just me or has Pitt been nerfed? He was my favorite in Brawl, but his down smash/special are both lame, his up smash/special aren't as good, his attacks seems slower and weaker, and they also gave him a really lame sound effect when he gets hits. Am I just not using him properly?

2.) Anyone else getting a Banjo Kazooie vibe from the Duck Hunt character? I love his Zapper-themed moves (clay pigeons, Hogan's Alley et al...)

I also want to do all challenges with no hammers used.

I think I'm crazy enough to maybe be able to do that.

Don't. Some of the challenges are ridiculous to try legitimately. It'll just limit you from playing the most fun part of the game (playing against other players).

I finished the "complete 100-man Smash with every character" challenge yesterday. I hated it and there are at least 5 worse challenges on the 3rd board. >_>

Yeah, you really have to bait people in order to land it.
I played one For Glory match where I forgot to choose a character because I was reading NeoGaf. So I end up playing as Wii Fit Trainer against a Lucina. I have no idea how to play WFT. After a while I realized the the Lucina would attack my shield with an aerial and land every time, so I just shield grabbed the rest of the match. Worked the whole time. V. V

1. Pit is pretty buffed in this game. His only nerf is his recovery. But everything else has been much better. You probably just need to adjust to his new game.

2. A lot of people said that too. And yeah, DH is pretty awesome and annoying in a good way.

It's for sure a really great mechanic, especially in terms of how it represents weapon uses in the actual FE games, but maaaaan if I didn't need to worry about Arcfire breaking, haha.

Thanks, it might be the 3DS controls too. I'll put some more time into Pit and try to get used to it.

My only real complaint with Robin is that it can be hard to see when a book starts flashing on the tiny screen. Really cool mechanic, though.

Rosalina as an opponent is starting to annoy me, in the level of Little Mac territory lol. Using Luma as a meat shield. I'm sure I hit a lot of attacks only to find out I only managed 58% the whole game.
