Captain Falcon's my main dude, he's so much better in this. With Falco lookin like the secondary at this point. Yeah they got super intense, I need to learn more about ZSS. And with Shulk he seems like he could be great when using those buffs right which you were doing well, but I just think that's going to naturally be hard in a 1 v 1.

I know what you're sayin about the 3DS. Can't wait to be able to really smash that gamecube analog again.

No you didn't, there's still no Snake.

Gamecube controller is the only way to play smash.

and Snake?! *hiss* I haaaate snaaakes mind games with the explosives !

I want to buy this, but won't this OT be completely dead once the Wii U version is out?

It might be. I know i will only be playing smash 3ds on the go for fun. For me the wiiU version is the definitive version visually & control wise. Even the online will be better due to being able to use the etherenet adapter. wireless will never be as smooth as a short ethernet cable ❤

Agreed, the Wii U version will be my go to version every time. I can't see myself playing the 3DS version outside of trips. About the online though, I have had some insanely smooth 4-player matches with a group of people that went on for many rounds and then suddenly on the next round it was complete shit with the same exact people. I think it is completely hit or miss if the match is going to run smooth or not.

I just played a guy so fucking good with Yoshi. Some of the shit he was doing I didn't even know you could do.

I am trying to learn Shulk. I am having issues with him as I am used to very fast characters such as Sonic and ZSS. Though, I don't have issues using Peach or Game and Watch so maybe I am just bad with him.... Or maybe it is because I have been using the four characters I mentioned for years.

His counter seems easy to execute that almost every time I got hit with it. His down smash has very long range compared to others that dodge rolling is ineffective, and his forward smash not only has a huge amount of knockback, but the range is pretty long too. Combine that with his smash buff and he can smack opponents even under 90%.

We would we never have played just now then. Cause if Snake was in this I would be playing him so fuckin hard right now. Blowin up that lil stuffed animal and things.

I have only had 2 unbearably laggy matches out of the maaany i have had so far. Even with people I know are overseas I have had very smooth non laggy matches. Every once in a while I get a game where a spike slow down to a still screen but after a few seconds its fixed for good. Either my net is so good i can carry people's bad net, or I'm extremely lucky with matchmaking / people i have added to my 3ds haha.

Fuck, I'm addicted to making Mii Fighters.

Just brought the Pro-PAIN with Hank Hill. Anyone else hooked?

On another note, they ruined Sonic; what's the point if he doesn't say "UR 2 SLOW"?

Waiting to unlock all the costumes before I really play around with them. Just made one of each temporarily so I can check out the costumes I've unlocked.

But =*( Snake is so mean to my playstyle >.< And why attack the stuffed animal! Now I am going to have to make your snake pay grr. If the leaks about characters like snake / chorus men & others getting unlocked in the wiiu version then you will get your wish. There are plenty of spaces on the menu for more characters considering how they can re arrange the char iconsヽ(`Д´)ﾉ

You are very observant to catch all of that already =) you need to fight my shulk sometime so you can tell me things about how I use him. You sound a lot like my friends brother who is actually a coach for competitive smash players. His analytical abilities with this game are insane(・ω・)

I hadn't added my friend code on here yet, 2105-8656-8489. I am pretty much done until Wednesday (damn grad school and work) but I will add whoever until then.

PM, otherwise I will likely miss the requests.

Finally earned all the characters. Classic Mode punishes you haaaaard, man.

That said, I've had Lucina since day one, and of all the characters I've played she seems to be the one sticking with me. This is a good thing considering I planned to main her to begin with, lol. ^_^;

I am really struggling with the 3ds controls at times. :-( like I'm getting used to it, but the hands, they are a crampin', and at crucial moments I'm still mixing my buttons up for some reason (so I SD hardcore).

Hoping to hop online and get matches this week, and praying the 3ds grip I ordered makes a surprise delivery appearance this week instead of the end of the month, lol.

I can't touch Samus till I get it, methinks. She was fun day one but it is hard trying to manage all her projectile options and short hop Zaria when my hands feel like they're about to fold in on themselves.

Sad about the loss of missile canceling too. T^T

Ah well, she'll be my solid alt, right there with ROB and Ness.

Side note: Little Mac destroys Trophy Run lmao.

Well my Win record just went from 10% trying to have some fun playing with Pikachu and starting every game by taunting to 40% by countering everything with Lucani.

Almost every single move in this game has a ridiculously easy read and every single competitive smasher does the same few combos and movements that each Character specifically has. Doesn't take a genius to quickly catch on and learn to respond. Lucina is an easy counter because she moves fast and because she can counter almost everything.

Just a shame how lame Competitive smash is. Why can't I have fun 1v1 with items where people play for fun instead of a lame super try hard "Roll around for 2 minutes in an attempt to have someone mess up their attempts so you can get one good combo and repeat".

I'm not even going to begin to touch your idea of "why competitive Smash sucks" (or Dice's for that matter), because it's 2am and I'd need at least an hour to make a bullet-pointed list to point out everything wrong with that mentality.

Especially when it includes such wonderful language as the classic: "super try hards" (aka people who practice and learn?), and uses that "always does the same thing" argument (you mean being consistent? This is a bad thing how?).

But anyways, my main point... Lucina is not that fast.

What's the quickest way to get 3 Mii outfits? Its the last challenge I have on board 1.
Use the hammer if you have any because they do not transfer between panels. Smash Run tends to reward outfits the most if not.
Edit: 10 hours of Smash does not count with other modes. Tested it out already...

Anyone know if the 10 hours challenge on board 2 has to be in multiplayer (i.e. Smash Mode) or do other modes count?

In other news I really need to get more Miis into my Mii Plaza. Beating up Reggie, Nikki and the Mario Brothers is getting a bit stale.

Edit: Thanks TheSlySoul. I guess I can use a hammer on it once the rest of the panel is getting more complete (I'll still have 2 left as the 3rd hammer is behind that).

I'm not even going to begin to touch your idea of "why competitive Smash sucks" (or Dice's for that matter)
I didn't say it sucks, I said it is annoying. What smash is about to me gets all muddled and distant in that scene. I also think a huge amount of competitive-only players are too haughty about their playstyle, giving it unearned cred and looking down too much on people who aren't so strict about rules.

Again, comparing to FPS (I do this b/c there aren't many fighters with items) you can easily come across a handful of people with weapons that put you at a disadvantage. How engagements form is fairly random, and you have to deal with unexpected uneven play skillfully, and also properly capitalize on advantages you get. It's a preference to have something pure from chance elements, but I wouldn't say it's inherently superior.

Competitive smash is like a FPS no grenades/rockets/snipers/health packs. You'll get more purity of positioning and timing play, and you can say your kills were definitely 100% skill, but it is less interesting in the end. Just overboard IMO especially when the design lends itself to chaos so nicely, and working with chance elements is also a valid skill not just "cheap" always. I don't have any problem recognizing this is a preference issue, and that is why I just say it is "annoying" to me.

THAT SAID, I do think some levels weigh too hard on the hazard side of things. Wily Castle is a good example. The stupid robot affects like 80% of the stage. At that point you aren't opening up new aspects of gameplay, you are just greatly stifling tons of options.

I haven't been able to play all that much; but the thumb cramps and small screen aren't really helping. I'm still enjoying it, but I don't really think I'll return to the 3DS game too often once there's a version which doesn't cause me physical pain by existing.
Miis are pretty fun, though.

Even if I lament a custom move / Mii accessory shop's lack of existence whenever I pick up a duplicate or roll an x0 on the slot roulette. And Smash Run is much less enjoyable than I initially thought, though for some reason I was able to have a considerably better time in it while using Wii Fit Trainer. And hearing 'Melee Menu Ver. 2' for the first time while being assigned to a race event using Ganondorf was a hilariously frustrating experience.

Decided to get kicked around online (or find out my connection is too crappy to play online at all) but I'm getting an error.

Looks like people are suggesting opening up ports but nobody ever says WHAT ports should be opened up for the 3DS. Any ideas?

I finished the last two challenging challenges (4 KO's in Cruel Smash and beating All-Star on hard) this morning. Now the grind begins.

Okay, managed to play a game. That was awful, couldn't do anything with that input lag. So I guess I won't actually get to play against an actual person until the Wii U game comes out and I can play locally. 3DS disappointment continues!

The other person didn't seem to be having any trouble though, which was weird. I guess it's "normal" and people have gotten used to it. Because he was pretty much reacting to everything I did while my button presses took at least a half second to do anything.

Not sure what ports to open but my friend who was having really bad lag problems fixed his by turning off the firewall on his router. His router let him choose what device to turn it off for, not sure if yours has that setting.

I have a question about online play: if I get in a good match with very little lag, is it possible that the person on the other end is experiencing really bad lag? Like, could there be some form of host advantage?

I ask, 'cause there are a few matches I get into in which the opponent is either not doing anything, or not trying very hard. I'm wondering if they're either giving up or are just experiencing connection issues or something.

So uh... pro tip for those still unlocking characters.

In the dedicated customization menu, every time you enter a Mii's customization screen (where you'd select clothes and equipment and all that) it counts as one game. So you can just select a mii, exit, select the same mii over and over again 120 times to rack up games then just suicide a 1 stock game with a cpu to trigger the challenger approachings.
Is this true?!

That moment you are 1000 times better than another player but after some rounds he goes from total pussy to real challenge.

That "I'M TEACHING YOU" feel.

Trying to find an equipment list I found this site:
http://smashbrothers.web.fc2.com/
Translate it but the FAQ seems easy to follow containing tips for smashing some challenges like training combos, homerun contest and target blast plus if you have a nicovideo account they have videos for some of the things (target blast for instance). Of course coming up with your own strategies for things are rewarding too but if you can't think of anything else or need a heads up.

I ended up finding an equipment list here:
http://gamers-high.com/smbr-3ds/customize.html
I was really looking for stats though (it seems the + and - are not directly correlated as I thought but rather run on a range, for instance I have two Knight's Cloaks; one +52/-31 the other +55/-29, the latter is clearly superior)

Alright, right NOW I need a duel in Western Europe. I create the room right away

3067 5870 8910

First one to quote with a friend code gets to beat up my Bowser. I think I can shut down Little Macs pretty well, but I need to learn more.

Are you sure, that there are no other side effect? I also had two similar equipment parts, where one had better attributes but also "Weight -1". Something like +52/-31/-0 vs +55/-29/-1.

I've asked a friend to buy my copy here in Sao Paulo, Brazil at launch.

They had a "For Glory" tournament where the prize was a WiiU. But the launch event a failure because they only had 500 copies available. He told me that it was very disorganized and crowded.

There were friends of mine that went home without the game and they were very disappointed with the whole situation.

But, for my luck, my friend was able to buy me the game, and we played from Friday 08pm to Saturday 10am.

I'm very happy that Namco, Nintendo and Sora managed to make a game this good, and the experience is not detracted for being portable!

Good spot it would seem weight is another variable. All my Knight's cloak have weight +2, now in the case of the Super Protection badge it seems my best one has weight +2 while rest have weight +1.

I guess stylish boots are a better example +53/-32/-3 vs. +57/-29/-4.

Gosh I'm bad as of late. From 80% for glory win rate to 57%. Damn those Japanese players at 2AM-3AM are like pros or something.
God, I need some of those, I have a 87% win rate out of 124 matches :-P

That's a good question, I've had people suicide themselves too...

So do we know the differences between Pit and Dark Pit yet, Arrows and side b aside?

They feel the EXACT same to me, except DP talks shit so he's better.

Any tips for defending against Little Mac on omega stages? I got nothing. Keep getting destroyed in For Glory, can't fight him close up and he closes distances so quickly.

Throw him into the air, use projectiles, use counters, that kind of thing. Block smartly until you can get him into the air.
