Some amusing screenshots I took:

Ridley?!

All the pics were amazing but ZSS + Purple Char pics never get old man.

Well there's your problem. Shulk has range--use it. There's no reason to be up in your opponents face and risk getting hit when you can hit them from a range just fine.

Then the opponent just dashes into me :(

I kinda wanna get used to Sonic again too. Anyone play him often?

Side note: i'm a huge noob at this game, trying to get into competitive

I'm starting to sour on Omega forms. In Brawl and Melee I'd only see FD as much as any other stage, maybe less. Now that Omega Forms have given an illusion of variety to the same stage, it's all I see when I'm playing with friends. I realize that the game doesn't have the best stage roster, but Battlefield, Yoshi's, and handful of other stages still exist.

This is why you just pick non-FD stages, non-Omega versions :P

So I was pretty crap at this to begin with, getting better. I can win against Level 9 CPUs in Smash Mode now, which is nice. But Grabs are still my weak point. Never knew they were such a big thing in Smash but at lv9 most CPUs are abusing grabs like crazy. Whenever I do it they seem to just get out of it right away. What's the best way to defend against these besides moving around more? Seeing as shields and counters don't guard against them.

Loving Rosalina and Luma. Once you get the hang of controlling both they're so much fun to play as.

So how do you play against friends? Do they appear once you've both added each other on your friend lists?
Anyone wanna play some 1v1? I don't really know anyone that plays!

Playtime at exactly 24 hours. Great success.

I just spent two hours playing 1v1 For Glory, and I won ONE match! There were so many close ones, but I kept losing again and again and again. Can I blame the combination of lag and my thumb slipping off the circle pad constantly?

I've never played Smash in a competitive fashion before, so despite my 4% win record at the moment I'm really enjoying the different play style For Glory dictates (at least, different compared to how I've played all previous iterations)

Charizard is so friggin rad. I've always loved the character but I hated transformation characters so much in Brawl that I barely used him. Here though? Ohohoho, burn your
4% of For Glory
foes with the hot winds of death baby.

This game is masterful. I'm bummed about the netcode and a few other minor quirks (not being able to adjust item frequency, lack of options for Smash Run, insane number of custom moves with no efficient way of unlocking them, a few past stages I miss, no intro movie, boring trophy descriptions), but those are such infinitesimal puddles in the vast ocean of magic that is the entirety of the experience that they matter as much as my goddam win/loss ratio in For Glory.

I love it so much <3

Seriously fuck that 4% bullshit - I'm raising this bitch to at least 6% on the morrow

Loving this game still, I'm working on beating classic with all characters
Also I really like all the new character they all feel unique, except the clones, I think my favorite new character is gonna be Pac-man, but Robin, Little Mac, and Greninja are great too

You guys probably already know this, but there is a really easy way to beat the 3200 ft. Home Run Contest Challenge. Here's what you do:

-Pick Shulk.
-Grab the bat and change to Buster mode.
-Forward smash x 3.
-Change to Smash mode.
-Forward smash.

Boom, 3300 ft minimum from just that.

What is even Buster Mode? It's always 2 hits with the bat before the barrier breaks so I'm not understanding this. And you can't even switch whatever mode so it makes no difference. And Shulk has by far the weakest bat swing like I can't even believe.
However, all the failed attempts at trying this led to getting the Strong Body challenge. That is what most were struggling with, right?

Then pick some other stages? People over exaggerate how bad the stage roster is, there are plenty of non-omega forms that are still perfectly playable. Corneria, Brinstar, Prism Tower, and Arena Ferox are all fine. Mute City, Reset Bomb Forest, and Tomodachi Life are arguably okay too.

So ever since installing the patch, I can't play the game.

It tells me that I need space on my SD card, I say OKAY because it's the only option. Then it says I need more space on my SD card and tells me to turn off the system or go back to the home menu. I uninstalled the patch, and same thing.

I deleted a bunch of demos that added up to about 2000 blocks. I'm going to delete all my Animal Crossing screenshots once I copy them over to my PC (yes, I am weird and keep hundreds of AC screenshots saved to my PC). I decided to back up everything and it's taking like 3 hours.

Anyway, I really don't think the space is actually the issue. I have a 0 MB "?" file on my 3DS that I think may be something corrupted and related to Smash. I'm going to take a look while I have the SD card connected to my PC and see if there's anything corrupt I can rip out of there.

I was playing the game just fine up until this morning when I decided I should grab the patch. Frustrating. My pain is sort of eased by the fact that I was busy with other stuff all day, but it's pretty unacceptable to have a game I can't play at all for seemingly no reason.

Windows said it was copying 5.6 GB of data, and it's an 8 GB SD card. Even taking into account that it's probably not actually 8 GB of free and available space, I should expect to have at least 2 GB available. Based on the fact that I can't find anything about this issue online, I'm guessing the patch does not use up 2 GB of space.

If anyone happens upon this problem and this thread, I fixed this by deleting an empty folder that was created on my 3DS at the exact date and time I started playing Smash. I had to do this on my PC, I wasn't able to directly through the 3DS system software.

Part of me wishes they put all the third party characters behind locks.

Like, it would be SO HYPE to just be playing then Pac-Man appears out of nowhere.

Pacman so good... Just got quite a few wins online as him. I'm pretty bad on fast characters though, not sure how to approach as the pacster.

Buster does the most damage. You can hit it three times, just as long as the last hit isn't a tipper. Then hit B 8 times to get to Smash mode and get the tipper with the bat for an easy 3200+

I can't get the hang of him. I've tried him a few times but I feel like he does no damage.
He's pretty combo reliant, at least I play him that way. Lots of traps with the hydrant, fast blows with hiss dash/side b peppered with aerial and his neutral b spam is how I'm playing him so far.

buster=more damage, smash=more knockback

They're especially awful because 99% of the time a counter may as well be an empty slot. New players forget they have them, and serious players (mostly) don't use them because the reward often isn't worth the risk. Sure, everyone remembers the time they countered Bowser's fully charged forward smash and won the match off of it, but people seem to forget every other time that they whiffed their counter and got blown up for it.

I'd imagine so many counters are in the game for the same reason so many characters have down-b specials that plummet them down extremely fast. It's easier to just increment on a move and slightly tweak it than it is to come up with something interesting and different. It just sucks that the developers chose two of the most useless moves to xerox on to huge portions of the cast.

I have to say that the movesets for newcomers this time around are very bland. They seem to follow a pattern and not be very imaginative or unique to the fighter. So many swords, so many counters. Duck Hunt's is one of the most unique thus far, though. Reminds me of Snake.
