I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS

I don't know why I never considered this. Or something like Yu Narukami using the sword version.

Wario is your best bet. He's possibly better than Puff, even.

Bowser Jr and Palutena seem really good in the air as well but idk if I'd call them aerial gods like Jigglypuff and Wario yet.
Wario is an air fighter? Seriously? I wouldn't have guessed.

Also if Palutena is good in the air, well, mine isn't. Need to find out what I'm doing wrong. I don't get Bowser Jr. at all. Some fighters just click and some don't. Bowser Jr. is a don't.

How come Lucina can just seem to ignore my stuns when I attack her and continue to attack me anyway? To be honest all of the Fire Emblem characters seem really powerful.

There are different ways to unlock characters. I unlocked Rob by reaching 200 trophies. I believe another way is to play 70 matches.

Right, that's probably what it was then. It happened after I decided to go online for a couple hours and got maybe four characters all in a row. I was just surprised at the priority since he came before Ganondorf or DHD.

What do you mean "ignore your stuns"?

If I rapidly attack her it should put her in a short stun, if that's the right word for it, maybe flinch would be better? I don't know. Lucina just seems to attack me whilst I'm attacking her, if that makes any sense.

God, I hate For Fun mode. There's always one asshole who just sits back and lets everyone else rack up damage, then hops in at the end to steal some kills. And then the other two idiots just let him.

She has a counter, so that's probably it.

You can DI or Vector or whatever they're calling it now out of a lot of the rapid attacks. She's probably just doing that and punishing you while you're still spamming.

It's probably her counter attack. She parries an attack and then counters. More characters can do that.

Thoughts:

Can't wait for the WiiU version. I really like this version of Smash, but the controls and the tiny screen (even on the XL) kill me.

I really like Smash Run though, so I'm sad that it won't be in the WiiU version. That would be awesome on a big screen with either online or CPU play.

This version of Master Hand can go suck an egg. He was such a chump in the previous versions, but he routinely rocks me at least once every time I get to him. I especially rage whenever he pulls out that fan move right after he's thrown me off the stage.

EDIT: OK, I feel a little better about MH after reading some posts in the thread. He's just a jerk above 7.0.

In Brawl, he had the best aerial mobility by far out of everything. He pretty much had triple the aerial acceleration of any other character. He could instantly change his direction in the air, when no other character had that benefit. That, coupled with his fantastic aerials and air dodge, made him king of the air in that game. No other character had the luxury of his punish game in the air.
Unfortunately, he's got nerfed a bit in Smash 4 when it comes to his aerial speed (or rather, his air acceleration) and his DAir now not auto cancelling anymore out of a short hop, but he's still one of the best.

Wanted to add to the confusion surrounding character unlocks by debunking the whole "200 trophies" requirement thing for ROB. I just passed the 150-mark a few hours ago, but I've had the full roster for a while now. I actually unlocked DHD last somehow. o_O

Does anyone get the feeling that roster unlocks are much more streamlined here because it's the 3DS version, a portable game that, one could possibly reason, would be less appealing if you couldn't get through those requirements during commutes or lunch breaks? Correct me with conflicting info if it's out there, but maybe one of the differences of the Wii U version will be the unlocking methods.

I don't know if anyone's answered this for you yet, but a couple tips: where you and the sandbag are on the platform when you swing makes a difference in how far he'll fly. The closer you are to the right edge, the further he'll fly. Not sure exactly how much difference it makes, but it always seemed to tack on a couple hundred when I was testing.

Also, aim to hit with the tip of the bat. Always goes much farther than if you get too close-quarters with it.

Thanks for the tips.

Sounds like Little Mac's worst nightmare, then. And I suppose if nothing else, I get to throw a motorcycle at people. That's always nice.

I've also noticed that sometimes I fly rapidly in a direction I push after getting knocked away. It could be a bug because it's really weird, like the momentum of the hit gets changed in the direction I press. Never had that in Brawl with Wario.

Finally beat Master Core on intensity 6.1. I might have been able to do it with fox on 6.0 if I didn't blow my first life killing Crazy Hand with a Fire Fox and going off the stage. I know a later challenge might demand more but I'm building up to it. In some ways Core is easier to fight like one on one is easier than free for all because there is less to keep track of. Core does have really punishing attacks though and they don't seem to be as telegraphed as obviously as the hands are but maybe that is due to it being new.

I really need to stop messing about in Smash Run but its a fun little mode. Wish the matches at the end were a bit longer.

Hitstun shuffle is what it is called in-game as a tip mentions it.

Vectoring is about and influencing direction on launches.

I was playing some For Fun and ended up in a room that had Robin v Ike v Marth v Roy. I couldn't stop laughing throughout the entire match. Kinda glad you can't see what the other people are choosing now.

Need a new main. Little Mac's fun, but I miss being risky and going off stage. Who's got some fun off stage shenanigans in this game?

That's too bad. Smash 64 and Melee had some fantastic intro sequences that were a huge part of the game for me. Brawl unfortunately just used gameplay and Subspace Cutscenes mixed together though. Hopefully the Wii U game gets a unique intro.
The more I think on it, the more I think there will sadly be no intro on WiiU. Nntendo has been cutting down on extra stuff and makes their games easy to get into as of late. They just want to put you into their games as soon as possible. Even Skyward Sword didn't have a intro unless you waited a few minutes unike past console Zelda games. And I have to agree with this, I just want to get into a game as quickly as possible. Maybe a intro only the first time you play the game, otherwise it got annoying skipping that intro in Brawl lol. Especially since games, even Nintendo games, take longer and longer to load lately.

Wow, I just got into the most bullshit battle with Bowser, ever. This should really be fixed, as I can see a lot of people exploiting it soon. Bowser grabbed me spun up into the air, then slammed down out of the area killing both of us, but since I'm at the bottom I'm technically the first to die making me lose the match. Yeah, that's not cool, at all.

It takes waaaay too long to kill someone in this game. You shouldn't be able to survive an aerial spin attack at 150% damage.

Yeah, I got killed 2 times in a row in for glory once. You can control the direction a bit though and it's pretty predictable.

Can anyone link me to a beginner's guide?

I LOVED Smash 64, and played Melee casually. Never played Brawl. I don't know anything.

Hell, I don't even know most the moves, and/or what they're for. Would love a starter guide.

Just did a Smash Run and ran around unable to know where to go. Had a battle after anyway, and lost.

Since no more Young Link, and not a fan of Toon Link, I'm playing as Villager. Seems to be the one I like most so far: but have no idea what his best method of play or or anything.

bowser is such a godlike pub stomper

easy setups for your partner with his neutral b in team battles, and easy 1v1 wins from bowserciding

one day people will realize you can control the trajectory of flying slam
