Finally. Now let's get this shit started...for real. I've been practicing against level 9s just to get used the control scheme. Years of playing with a GameCube pad has made it hard to adjust to a hand held

I played online for most of yesterday and aside from a small handful of laggy matches, it was pretty smooth. I'm fairly satisfied with the online tbh, and my internet connection isn't even that great.
Mine is a decent connection and outside of maybe 5 matches the rest have ranged from bad to awful.

I had a couple of matches where the little smash ball logo popped up to signal loading, match was a slideshow.

Sorry I haven't been playing online with anyone, but it's because my internet is the worst. Once every 5-10 seconds my packet loss jumps to about 5-10% which causes the game to freeze for a second every 5-10 seconds which makes it no fun. When it's not freezing, it's actually perfect.

I'm using a comcast issued router/modem combo, and JUST got it replaced w/ a brand new one, but the issue is still here. I turned off all firewalls everywhere to see if it would help, but it doesn't. Running a pathping now to see where it's happening. This sucks :/

Huh, I have a B* rating and have yet to get an online match where I was satisfied with the netcode :/

Absolutely. This game has the worst net code since marvel

It's much worse than Marvel's netcode overall. I think in about 2000 Marvel matches I've had about 20 which were so laggy they were completely unplayable. In this game I'm almost close to reaching that same number with much less matches under my belt. It's a shame. Good connections can make for very fun matches and that's what keeps me playing it, but it sucks starting a match and instantly seeing the next five minutes will not be that enjoyable. That said, my expectations for the netcode were very low, based on Brawl and I was fearing for much worse.

A huge problems with Smash Run for me is that the length of the mode is terribly thought out. 5 minutes is way too long for the first part and 1 minute ffa is way too short for any meaningful battle to take place.

And that's even beside the fact that the entire thing is rather dull and uninteresting. Waste of development time, sadly.

Yep the 5 minutes for a match that's 1 minute is poorly thought out.
You should be able to edit the times for each mode.

I think five minutes is too short for the first part. Some of the enemies (like Clubberskull) take too long to kill.

what moveset do people like for Palutena? I like the idea of Super Speed (side-b) but I haven't found a great use for it yet though.

I think if we could have picked the ending match and then the game randomly selects from the four chosen. We could avoid the stupid 1 minute battle option. I love Enemy Smash though and Run is amusing. Climb is a bit dumb.

Options for Smash Run is my number 1 request for patches. City Trial had a bunch of settings, letting you choose length of the city phase and even let you set which event you did afterward. The fact that this doesn't have that is a waste.

I do like Smash Run though, it's just way lackluster right now after how much they pushed it during promotion.

SO do you guys ultimately say to wait until the game is fixed to pick it up?

I would honestly say to just wait for the WiiU version if you can. I'm sure having a wired connection would go a long way to helping the online problems out. Hopefully. God hopefully.

Single player content is really boring with the lack of event mode.

I tend to agree. A minute FFA means the stat boosts you've worked for will oftentimes have marginal effects on the outcome of that match.

please give smash run more field events and final battle types

they don't even need to make anything new just like stick home run contest and target blast in as final battle types

Funny enough I found climb to be the best one.
Enemy Smash I absolutely loathe.

I think a big problem with the mode as well is that the final games are random.
So if you were focusing on attack power and then you get run. Well too bad you already lost before it even begins. The mode is just too much left to chance sometimes.

I went to finish classic with Link to unlock ganon and suddenly DP showed up ... do I have to finish with link again to unlock ganon ?

Does toon link works ?

The fucking gall of this game to put a disconnect timer in it's online mode when only 1 out of 10 games is anywhere close to being playable.

Everything surrounding this game and the internet is a complete failure.

Yeah, one time I got Climb and I picked Charizard. I knew I would lose because Charizard is heavy. Too much random chance kills it for me.

No, just play Classic normally or do a Smash battle. The game remembers you doing the conditions.

Nope, just go into Smash mode, set the stock to one, and then suicide. Doing that will let you fight Ganondorf.

One time I got race as Ganondorf, and Marth was one of my opponents. Needless to say, I didn't win that one.

Yeah. Forcing you to sit through laggy matches or else you get hit with a ten minute ban. :/

Can they not detect if a match is laggy as hell and let you disconnect if you want?

I'm trying my hardest not to pick Little Mac every time I go on the character select screen.

I really need to train my Rosalina and Luma so I can start feeling comfortable with them.

But he's just too fun not to use.

I probably wouldn't mind the online as much if I wasn't so terrible.
But combined with that, I'm just not getting a chance to play.

I do not understand why a bunch of people are saying the "content is sparse."

Probably has more to do with the quality of content that's there that's making people say that.

Event mode and target test were the best single player content and they're gone. Classic and All-star modes are pretty plain and Smash Run is boring.

I'm playing 1v1 matches all the time and the online is honestly not that bad. Not that long ago it was much worse in USFIV (PC) and I was still playing, lol.

Problem is a good match is USFIV PC Quality. But because they give you 0 information on who you're getting matched up with I end up having to deal with a lot of awful matches.

Yeah, I think we can agree single player is solid, but a step down from Brawl in options. Online is better than Brawl, but still flawed. Hopefully the Wii U version is full of modes. I want a Nintendo Direct so bad!

This is nintendo we're talking about. This game probably isn't going to get fixed.

I mean, ever since Vanilla marvel, the netcode in fighting games has been getting increasingly better. Ultimate Marvel was okay, but still spotty, the ArcSys games have been fantastic, even Mortal Kombat and Injustice got patched to be serviceable.

Smash's netcode is fundamentally broken. I am amazed they let it ship like this.
