Do any of you guys know how to reach 600m or more in Home-Run Contest? Which character do I have to use and what moves are the most efficient to deal damage to the sandbad?

yeah that's why I used Mac to beat the unlockable characters

I'm not ashamed to say that some of them really kicked my ass, like Duck Hunt Dog and Jigglypuff

Also how are you Sah? I hope to play against you pretty soon! (I used to be Poplemousse on Animal Crossing GAF if you don't remember me)

Nope, you're right on point. I can see how For Glory style rules would be great for tournaments, but just for everyday fun, standard rules Smash is where its at.

when its laggy its :( x :/ but when its not lag city its really fun
always fun when everyone runs for the smash ball, then run away from the person that has it

i like both modes B^)

KOing in the actual game is more easier than in the demo.

And damn Bowser is waaaay too powerfull, I KOed two opponents in the first 10 seconds of the match with him lol And all of his moves can KO at any rate.
 
I have to say the character select screen and stage select one look kinda... meh.

Like something fan-made.

It's a minor complaint though

This is the real Smash. I had a good ten or so games with the same three people on For Fun. Some guy's Shulk won most of the time, but the matches were so wacky and unpredictable. Also Little Mac's win percentage in For Fun is 80000%.
 
Dang, a MASSIVE line in front of the Gamestop near me in San Jose this morning. I assume it's for the tournament? Cool to see some real life excitement for this.
 
So, bad news: haven't been able to connect my 3DS to any of my three access points at my university and Nintendo's only suggestion was to take it up with the school tech team. Maybe I'll be able to curry favor by pointing out I'm interning for game journalism...?

In any case, I won't be able to play with you guys for a while (unless anyone here's a member of TechGAF and can help out via PM, which I'd appreciate). Sorry folks! I'm dying to try out online, but at least I'm having major fun otherwise with the game!
 
Dangit.. I was going to wait to buy this because I'm too busy with Destiny/Diablo, but you guys are getting me too hyped. I'll probably pick this up later today with Shadow of Mordor :P

I think they are character based. For example, you don't get Ashley until you unlock Wario and you may not get Jeff or Starman before Ness. You will get a message when you have unlocked all of them. Pokemon are the same way as some of them are tied to the challenge board, including the wildly overpowered Genesect.
 
I've also decided I hate playing as the Dorf in this game as well, just like I did in Brawl. He's so unnecessarily clunky, as if that added clunkiness is supposed to distinguish him enough from Falcon. If Sakuari insists on making him a Capt. Falcon semi-clone then he should at least make him viable like he was in Melee :|

I do really enjoy the game overall, though. But Bad Dorf makes me sad.

I saw you online on Smash yesterday so I don't think you did! (or maybe you did in the meantime, like this afternoon)

Trying to finish the second Challenges panel for the moment but I'll let you know when I'm ready!
