Anyone else having a hard time getting the smash movies to register? Sometimes when I press "Circlepad over+ A" it just registers as only "A" and results in a normal hit instead of a smash attack.

So I guess Little Mac has armor on some of his normal attacks? I was throwing fireballs as Luigi against a Mac who was just standing there whiffing haymakers and it was eating up the projectiles.

Here is a rough draft for those playing.
Smash Classic Guide said:
Falco - 1st time
Ness - 2nd time
Dark Pit - 3rd time
Ganondorf - Link 5.0
Dr. Mario - Mario 5.0
Lucina - FE character with no Continue
Duck Hunt - 8 times
Jigglypuff - 18 times (may require a custom made character)
Game and Watch - Duck Hut 5.0
Wario - ??? [100 Man Melee works]
Bowser Jr. - 7.0 with Bowser
R.O.B. - 200 trophies

Edited!

To get Bowser Jr. from Classic, you need to beat it with Bowser at 7.0 or higher. I recommend just going in at 9.0. If you take the easy paths, you can easily get to Master Core without dying, and you will have multiple chances at him.

Fyi, i started classic mode at 7.0, lost a continue, beat it at 6.5 and still got Bowser Jr.

Anyway heres my fc for anyone who wants to play: 4871-3827-3895

Just realised the European version spells Defense correctly as Defence. Huzzah, we don't have the American localisation.

I wonder if this means trophy descriptions are different.

Can someone who has unlocked Jigglypuff in the English version tell me if she has the same voice clips she has had since Melee or did she get some new ones?

Somewhere I read for Jiggly you must have custom characters enabled, and when I did that, she popped up after my 17th classic run. Maybe it works even earlier with customs.

Can you change the button layout? I really wanted to move "jump" in the demo.

yes, you can change almost everything... and you can cancel the tap-jump on the circle pad if that's what you want.

the only thing you can't change is the circle pad and d-pad.

all your character unlock conditions are whack guys. I've unlocked Wario, Lucina and doc Mario and I've only played with Mario and fox. game is hella random.

Played some Brawl this week to compare and one major change for the better in 3DS is how much smoother it is to pick up items and even just turn your character around mid fight. Picking up items in Brawl had such an awkward detection radius and mixed with the sensitivity of smashing forward and overshooting the item location entirely when you just want to inch a step was one of my largest peeves. Turning around while standing in place was never easy either. Moving the stick away from your faced direction, unless extremely subtle, would lead to a burst of speed dash behind your character, that equally pissed me off.

Just a lot of little control and gameplay irritations that are smoothed out entirely in Smash 3DS so far.

Not digging the stage choices personally. New stuff is kind of weak with few exceptions, while the returning choices are equally "huh?" worthy. Given the intended audience, focusing on modern releases(especially those since Brawl) makes total sense, but more legacy experiments are missed.

Played Smash Run twice and never want to touch it again. Classic Mode is a huge improvement over Melee and Brawl though! All the minigames I never cared for, and really thus the single player side of this game feels really limp. MP has been spotty but a few matches have ran well enough.

Ok first impression, but not feeling it. Maybe the Wii U version will impress more and make me more enthused to keep playing this portable game.

Its really annoying how you can't make a button exclusive for smash attacks, as its easy for the game to register a smash attack as just 'a' instead of 'a over'' lots of the time.

Just got back home with my copy. Had to go to 4 different stores before I found one where it wasn't sold out (the one time I don't pre-order a game : / ). Anyway, 3DS is charging now while I get dinner, ready to rumble in a bit :p

9.0 Master Core with the 3DS Circle pad is not a pleasant experience.

He's not bad w/ the stronger characters. Captain falcon, Charizard, Bowser, Ganondorf have little to no problem with him. I was able to beat him 9.0 with all 4 of those. Spam falcon knee, rock smash, back air, down air respectively.

I finally solved my Circle Pad problem. Smash tournaments, here I come!

... Something I noticed in Sound Test is that Female Robin is FAR more cocky than Male Robin. Some of her lines are different than the male counterpart and go like "How can you protect Chrom if you can't protect yourself?" and showing off her tactician skills, while male version is more caring ("Lucina, are you all right?")

It's a small detail I really like.
And she actually says TIME TO TIP THE SCALES instead of the watered down version of non-canon male Robin ;)
That was her in-game personality in Awakening (it only shines through in some of the convos though). Male Robin is a bit boring (he even admits this).

I hope online is just swamped due to it being release date. I'm really, really disappointed in the online lag. I have a solid connection too. That takes the fun out of playing online.

You know I feel like...the lag blame falls on people jumping online with Smash are people who dont play online all that often, so they dont know what an optimal environment is.

I bet some of the same problems hit Persona 4 Arena.
