with each B press the monado will cicle through them, when you want to "select" just stop pressing B and shulk will get its power, you see it by looking at the color shulk gets when he has the power (a green, blue, purple or red aura)
As a fairly new smash player, I'm confused. What mode should I be in to generally make progress? Smash Run, Classic, or this labyrinth one? Or whatever I'm in right now (under 'Games') which seems to have an overworld map kind of deal.

It worked great yesterday night and on tuesday night. I just tried again a couple of minutes ago, it was horrible... the match took me about 10 minutes because it stopped every couple of seconds :/
I guess that's because it's release day.

Might as well lol, by the time I get this game today it'll be the same feeling as being months late.

Unlock characters, face greater challenges, etc? I was under the impression there was some kind of 'campaign' mode in previous games? Like with a final stage and last boss and everything?
Yeah definitely some good games! I need to work on Palutena more, but I like her.

Classic is the mode with a final boss (You can also unlock most characters there).

There is no campaign like SSE in Brawl. Classic mode has a boss which scales to the difficulty you select.
For unlocks, VS mode is the most reliable. 10 matches per unlock. 120 matches.
For greater challenges, go online and be humbled.

Do you guys recommend the 3DS XL for this? How have you all faired on the 2DS or regular 3DS, especially if you have big hands?

So, how does one unlock the extra settings?
How is the original more graphic than anything shown on Animal Planet?
Also I was amused at this line in the Samus (Varia Suit) trophy:
"And, in a feature quite unique to the Metroid series, it lets her morph into a ball instead of having to crawl!"
So THAT's why Metroid can't crawl.
there is not real "progess" in the sense of story, may be you would like to get to the classic mode so you can see some "campaign"
the meat of smash is to just play it with any match you would like in the Smash part of the menu, the game has tons unlockables, but not a proper centralized campaign

Completely recommend the XL. Tried playing the demo on the regular 3ds and it was possible but it got extremely uncomfortable very fast. Recently picked up the smash xl and it is so much better.

I have relatively tiny hands and I can't imagine playing this on a regular 3DS/2DS. It's probably hell for people with large hands.

I dont know why "classic" isn't defaulted under the Smash Solo menus. Seemed weird.

Only thing I would say about 2DS screen is that the characters get pretty small on big stages. Otherwise I've found it perfectly playable, if a little hand crampy!

Playing the demo broke me into the standard 3DS control scheme, minus the tap-jump.
the default one is the most commonly used (as in, everybody uses it), however some chnages like the tap jump with the circle pad are almost always turned off by most people

Yes. Then go to versus and die once, a new challenge is bound to appear if you've done quite a bit. Matches with friends count too

Grabbed a copy at GS, and they only had like 5 or 6 extra copies. They had a stack of preordered ones to be picked up today on the counter behind the register.
Will be interested to see NPDs this month though as I bet a lot of hardcore people went digital.

Looks like you can get completely random customs in Classic. Got one for Marth and Peach while they weren't in the match at all.

It was kind of poorly worded before too. "But no idea if..." is clumsy. It kind of implies that the entry is written in the first person, which then leads you to wonder who exactly is talking... (Sakurai? Master Hand?) and are the rest of trophy entries the words of that person too?
So, it may have been that just as much as it being "too risque".

No. We know the full roster (unless there are some that are unlocked by linking the two versions). and Ridley, K. Rool, Mewtwo, *insert requested character here* are not in the game.
Yeah, but it's weird. Once you start going into solo versus to unlock them, it unlocks them in the reverse order. So if you've played 70 matches online, you'll unlock the character from the 70th match, then 60th and so forth.

For the second to appear, yes you need to clear the first wall. However, the last challenge wall appears maybe halfway through the second wall. It's worth getting at least to the second wall because Flat Zone is one of the wall rewards. The rest is just trophies and custom stuff. Also keep in mind that the hammers are for ONE board only. So go ahead and use the hammers on the last three spots you have ton the first board. For the second board, there are three streetpass challenges that you can use your hammers on. The final board has some time-consuming ones like "use all characters in X mode". You can't use your hammers on those though, so just pick three with the best reward. I used my hammer on the last board to get the Style Savvy trophy. AIN'T NO WAY I'M GETTIN EVERY ITEM.
