Do the midnight launches only cater to those who have pre-ordered? Can people just walk in at midnight and pick one up assuming they have extra copies?

Depends on how much of a jerk the employees are AND what their inventory is.

Chances are you'll be find to just walk in. I'd call after they close but before the midnight launch, like 11PM. If you call before they close, they'll ask you to come in and preorder.

Yeah, call your store to see because some stores are opening at different times. I am pretty sure many have excess copies.

Someone who has the time to update it should really create a Smash Bros GAF tournament thread where people can post information about their tournaments. A really dedicated person would update the first post with the information for each upcoming tourney.

I'd do it, but I'll never have the time to update it.

I'll be heading down to the Gamestop at Wayne, PA; if anyone's heading down to the same area, lemme know! :)

Odd how I was relatively composed today (in contrast to my unrestrained hype this week) until just like a half-hour ago. WE'RE SO CLOSE GUYS!

Is there a list for Canadian Gamers?

Super Smash Bros. Midnight Launches

The following stores will be participating in midnight launches on Friday, October 3 (12:01 AM). Please call the store for more details:

Eaton Centre - 220 Yonge St. Suite 110, Toronto ON - (416) 596-7871
Oakville Place - 240 Leighland Ave. Unit 208, Oakville ON - (905) 339-3059
Vaughan Mills - 245-1 Bass Pro Mills Dr, Vaughan ON - (905) 738-4430
Yonge & Dundas - 267 Yonge St, Toronto ON - (416) 866-8368

Like usual, Nintendo doesn't care about you unless you live in Ontario. I was always under the impression that Nintendo games sold well in Canada.

Think I'll be able to play online well?

I think in order to be fair and give all characters a chance I'll just go from left to right and top to bottom. Or I just might pick fox to see how terrible he is now. My old main Lucas is gone :(

24 hour Wal-mart? That sounds amazing. The only kind of shop open at midnight over here is a night shop where you can buy some food and drinks :O

24 Hour Wal-Marts -- or "Super" Wal-Marts as they were once called -- really aren't that amazing. But they tend to be low-key for this sort of thing. It's been a while since I've been the type of person that ventured out of the house at midnight, but years ago, before I moved a little further out into suburbia, I used to live about five minutes from a shopping complex that had both a Wal-Mart and a GameStop. I remember buying Brawl and Mario Kart Wii from that Wal-Mart at or shortly after midnight with no fuss at all (i.e. no lines, no arguing with the employee about whether or not it was supposed to be available or anything).

I also remember GTA IV's release. I didn't really care that much about getting it day one, but I was still up the night it released so I decided to swing by and see what was going on. There was a long line outside the GameStop. I walked into Wal-Mart at about 11:45, and it looked like there was maybe ten people waiting for it. And since it was a 24 store, they were obviously waiting inside the store by the electronics department.

Like I said, I understand if you want to hang out and make a night of it with a bunch of fellow gamers around. And I know some places set up tournaments or what-have-you to make it more of a big deal. But if all I'm interested in is buying the game? Yeah, I'd just go to the Wal-Mart.

Thankfully, I can just buy digitally these days and not worry about any of it.

How do I add my name and Friend Code to the spreadsheet? Can't seem to find a community thread or separate sharing thread for it yet. Spreadsheet I found is locked.
