Cool, thanks. Sounds good except the fair lacking meteor smash and the dthrow not as combo-able. I'll try them both out. I always liked Doc's dedicated tornado over the stupid FLUDD. Cape was better in Melee, too, IIRC.

It's actually pretty clear cut that (at least in Melee) the non-meteor Fair Dr. Mario has is better in more situations than Mario's Fair. Not only is it a strong KO move you could combo into from Dthrow (in Melee) at like 100ish% or so, but it's much better on-stage and more reliable on-stage than Mario's meteor Fair. Of course, the meteor bounce/ground bounce on Mario's Fair in this game might make Mario's Fair better on-stage than before, I still think Doc has the superior Fair in the end -- especially since Mario does have trouble getting the KO at times without a strong aerial.

Of course, Doc's Fair really relies on there being a good setup into it so if there isn't a good setup for it in Smash 4... it might not be as good as it was in Melee.

I'm very interested in how he will turn out in the end, though. I know I'll be using him regardless just because of Down B and the drill kick. :P

I played the demo some more today since I'm actually getting the 3DS game. Had to get the feel for it again and tried to get the timing for pivot smashes down. Unsuccessful so far.

Up to about 7 hours. I've played the Smash demo almost as long as the Bravely Default demo!

Ok online is an utter shitfest for me. so much lag, both yesterday and today. It has to be my connection somehow, because i've watched some streams where it was ok, but i really don't know what to do...

my connection speeds with other devices are fine. but i always encounter problems with 3ds and wii u for some reason. Is there anything I can do on my router settings to get my 3ds to play nice?

Can't wait for tomorrow.. isn't there a stream tonight? like aren't they announcing a new character reveal trailer or something or did I dream that.

It's not your connection it's theirs. I've got waaaay worse internet than that and had a few 1on1 (for glory) that was fine. If you are doing 4 player then the chance at horrible connections increases due to 3 people with potential shitty internet that will bring everyone down rather than just the 1 other person. If you want good online matches play 1v1 for glory or 1v1 With Friends or multiple "with friends" that have good connections.

Coming from Sakurai...

"Connectivity can depend heavily on location so I really don't know what to say. At the very least, we've confirmed that smooth play is possible under various conditions of external networks. During multi-player, you're connected with another player and sending light amounts of data back and forth, so if the game feels laggy, it's due to the connection speed. If you play when it's laggy, then the person you're playing with will experience the same lag, so it's best to play when the connection is clear. During development, there were cases where we had too many people and the connection became sluggish, so we turned off our cell phones and the connection would clear up. It's best to avoid playing while streaming something or by a tethered connection. Free wi-fi spots are probably not very good either."

Or try putting your 3DS in DMZ mode.

Where can I find newbie players to play with me? I'll be getting the game today at midnight and my GMT is -3. I'm terrible at the game, btw, but I still love playing it, like I do with Mario Kart, even losing is fun.

Say, does anyone know how many made-up nintendo memory blocks Smash takes up? I'm planning on going digital for convenience sake. Also, when does the eshop typically update?

God damn it Duck Hunt Duo is so fun. What a great character. Of the newcomers I've played so far it's easily my favorite one. I quite like Little Mac too, he seems pretty beastly but damn, his air game is unbelievably bad.

Oh well, I do like Lucina too but I always liked Marth/Marth-clones, Roy was my second main in Melee.

I need a break though. Up to clearing Classic on 7.0 and several characters unlocked, I think I'm doing decently.

I've been playing For Glory 1v1 exclusively and it lags like crazy in most matches so I really think the problem has to be on my side somehow.

I don't believe the problem is with my router not being able to handle all the connections when everything else runs great. That bit about DMZ mode sounds interesting though, how do I do that?

Anyone wanting to play non-competitively feel free to add me. My code is on my profile. I think I have to add you as well (because Nintendo), so PM me so I can add you back.
8 more hours!

Gonna try my hand at Lucina.

Regarding my tournament, it'll be fully arranged on Sunday, I'm gonna be fairly busy up until then, so keep tuned!

Are you gonna create a thread for your tournament, or is there an information post you can link to? I'd like to participate.

Lag cancel item throw looks pretty crazy, bet that gets patched out if Sakurai's wandering eye sees it.

The fact that they were so aware of Zairs bypassing the landing lag from air dodges I'm surprised they didn't consider item tosses, as well. They didn't include that in the routine check for landing lag, I guess. That is, they didn't program it such that you would experience landing lag regardless of the item toss animation.

Who knows if they'll be so adamant about patching things like that, though. Only way we'll find out is in patch 1.03 or 1.04 (if such updates come out lol). I am positive they will fix the Yoshi teleportation to the ledge glitch, though (it deals with an animation check with his ledge jump they forgot to set which is making him return to his original location before the animation took place).

I'm so ready for this game tonight! If anyone is down for some friendlies feel free to add me 5412-9913-4988. PM me if you did!

Also is SmashGAF gonna have a big event/tourney soon or how can we all set up matches together?

What for?

well i was responding to foshy

remembered reading in an older topic someone was having the wifi connection issues and they went away when he turned power-saving mode off, so If all else fails its worth a try
with that connection i dont see why it wouldnt be smooth when playing people

I got a large post with details, but will refrain from posting it for now, as many people fail to read it totally and flood me with PM's, lol.
