Debating between keeping my Gamestop preorder or cancelling it for the eShop. Waiting hurts. :c

Same boat. I think I'm just going to go digital. I don't see any reason why I wouldn't want to be able to start it up whenever I want while still having Theatrythym in the game slot.

Okay so... apparently my Amazon order (when looking at the order details) says it's Shipping Now but it hasn't charged my card. Not sure... if that's progress or not.

Edit: Wait, it looks like it did charge my card?... But why didn't I receive an e-mail telling me it did? :|

Just came to post that I really cannot wait until 12 o'clock. Been playing the demo just to hold be over. This is gonna be awesome!

Happy playing, everyone!

I managed to find a Gamestop launching at midnight and get a last minute preorder. It's about 30 minutes from home though, so the drive back will be rough lol.

Some of the figures on the World Stats are so crazy already, like the fact the total worldwide playing time is 31133457969 hours haha.

(judging by the activity map a HUGE amount of Europe have this early and are playing right now)

It felt like yesterday that the E3 2013 Trailer was shown. Can't believe it is already close to the release. Midnight with $45 stored in the eShop. I'm ready.

No midnight release here although some stores broke the street date, I pre ordered in a place that will the game only in 24hrs. ;-;

What's the benefit to storing eshop money ahead of time as opposed to just paying when you buy the game? CC transactions should go through instantly either way...

The eShop will likely slow down, so instead of wasting time by putting in money when iy is out, you can instead just buy it immediately.

You wont have to add the funds while the servers are crashing due to the load of everyone trying to download at once.

I'm not sure if I should go to my GameStop's midnight launch tonight. On one hand, GameStop's normal opening time is exactly when I leave for school on Fridays. On the other hand, I'm almost never up til midnight, and I'm not sure about my sleep pattern. And on the other, other hand, the only midnight launch I've ever gone to was Brawl's.

That sucks. I used to live somewhere with a 20 minute drive. I love that my drive is like 5-10 minutes now. At least we do not have to worry about the server load causing it to go down. :)

So I tried the Walmart thing with two stores between work and my house, ordered it for pickup around 10am yesterday, still havent heard anything ;[.

Called them up but seems that they dont have it in stock, and they are saying it was a website error. Oh well. Amazon it is.

Amazon almost screwed up my order:

I pre-ordered so long ago that the credit card I used had since been deactivated and my either I or my wife had since deleted it from our account. They waited until this morning to tell me there was an issue (I get it, they wait until is ships to run the card).

Problem was, I would get an error when I tried to select a working credit card from my payment options.

I got on the chat support a few minutes ago and they cancelled my original order and let me place a new order with 1-DAY shipping and waived the shipping cost - so I am still on for release-day delivery.

Whew!

I'm definitely going. Not just for the midnight release but mine is doing a project m tourney plus the winners get prices. I work the next morning at 7 am but screw it, I'll be up all night xD

My gamestop not having a midnight launch :( just gonna go at noon on friday
There might be one near you.

There is one 5 minutes from me, but of course they aren't midnight launching. The funny thing is, as much as I'm obsessed with getting the game immediately, I probably won't play it long tonight (wowow, tonight, that's soon). I didn't get much sleep last night, and most of my friends will probably be busy until tomorrow anyway.
Why is this game labeled as "Super Smash Bros." on twitch? I'm sure it was "Super Smash Bros for 3DS".
It was labelled that way at first, but there is a 'for 3DS' label now. Maybe you just see someone with the wrong label? I definitely remember clicking the full name after a while.

Yikes, there is one 30 mins away from me..I have one 5 mins away to but they arent doing a midnight. Oh well not gonna waste gas for thaf

The OP mentions Coin Battles and Stamina Mode. Are these only available in local multiplayer?

W-w-wait

Coin and Stamina modes are limited to Smash Run?

Sakurai put this stuff in the game, but he couldn't be bothered to put them in Versus??

Yeah, this speaks to my overall biggest complaint about Smash 3DS: the general lack of options, especially ones that were in previous games. Coin Battles and Stamina Mode don't exist outside of Smash Run (and Master Hand/Crazy Hand's HP), there's no Tournament Mode, and you can no longer set the frequency of item spawns. Either they're on at one set rate or you just turn them off, and personally... while I really love most items (and have said as much many times here), the default (and only) spawn rate in Smash 3DS is just too high. It feels like it's somewhere in-between Brawl's High and Very High.

This stuff doesn't seem like it'd be technically impossible to do on the 3DS at all, so my only guess is that the team ran out of time and options like this had to be cut. I'm really, really hoping they're present in the Wii U version and maybe get patched in with a future 3DS update; Smash has always been all about options and custom-tailoring your play experience down to the smallest details, and that's kind of gone here.

Game's still freaking awesome otherwise, though.

It was "for N3DS" at first in September, I remembered following the game(new function in twitch), but the "for N3DS" label automatically changed to "Super Smash Bros." by it self, and then another "for N3DS" showed up.

Also, a funny video.

There's no coin battle in the 3DS version, not even SmashRun.

Haven't got a single online game in that wasn't unplayable since yesterday :-(
I guess servers are just gonna nope out once everyone has the game.

I"m so glad I'm busy today, have a house inspection for my new home and after that back to being busy at work, so hopefully the day goes quick.

Planning on buying digital first thing tomorrow morning (5am or 6am). I was going to do midnight, but by the time it downloads, I'll be half asleep and won't enjoy it as much as in the morning. I also want to stay up into the wee hours of Saturday morning playing with my brother and couldn't do that if I went too late tonight.

Why not start the download at midnight, leave on the charger, then wake up early to play it?

Still not sure if want.

I'd rather play Project M than Smash 3DS, but I wonder if it would be worth it to get the grinding for custom moves and character unlocks out of the way before the Wii U game comes out.

But we still don't know anything about transferring apart from "it's there." No confirmation of what exactly transfers or what might not be available in the Wii U game that has to be transferred. I'd hate to buy the 3DS game, spend a bunch of time unlocking custom moves and characters, and end up not even being able to or needing to transfer them.

Sakurai's comment almost makes it sound like customization won't even be in the Wii U game apart from accepting transfers from the 3DS game, so setting up custom moves may not even be possible on Wii U. Of course he also said customizations won't be unlocked through repetitive tasks but we see how that turned out.

Played a few matches of 1v1 "For Glory" online last night. The first 2 lagged like crazy because I was playing someone from Japan (I'm in Canada) which was to be expected. Lost both times. Then I played this guy Brad who I'm assuming is from NA and everything went much more smoothly and I went 7-1. There were occasionally laggy moments but for the most part it was good and very playable. I'm going to test out 4 player for fun tonight to test out how well it runs.

Also boo to not being able to play 2v2 "For Glory" with a friend. I really hope this is available on the Wii U.

Watching a match with the Koopalings and good lord is the SFX annoying. I bet they did not try to have a match with four of them. So much swishing!

That requires me to be awake at midnight. There's no pre-loading as far a I know.
Are you in the east coast because it is before midnight everywhere else.

We're almost at the end now. Any thoughts, feelings, regrets, anyone?

It really has been a crazy ride. I've been hyped for a lot of games in my life, but nothing even close to this. I can't believe the 3DS version is out worldwide as of tomorrow.

It's not quite over, though; it seems like Sakurai has already been ramping things up with more Wii U PotDs, and after the 3DS version is out everywhere, I expect that will only continue and ramp up even further. We're in for another good month and a half of Smash Wii U hype, and I'm going to enjoy every second of it.

Oh yeah, good point. I don't wake up as early, so midnight is usually right around bed time for me. I didn't even think about the possibility of sleeping sooner.

This is probably your last chance to get a completely new Smash game for the next 5 years. I don't think this is gonna be that fun compared to PM and Melee (and even inferior to the Wii U version), but now is not the time to worry about it. Get excited about Smash 3DS! By the time the Wii U version comes out, these characters and their movesets will be kind of old news, all very familiar. This is the chance to get hyped and jump into a new game while it's still kinda new.

Don't know that I'll grind out the customs for now... but I'll probably just play the game a bunch and see what I get. I'll probably make a point to get customs for characters I play, is all.
