I'm actually really glad most of the people I'm interested in playing are in the starting roster, because it means I can unlock the characters more naturally instead of rushing the 120 suicides thing. In a way I wish I'd gone in unspoiled, but that would've been really hard to do without burning my computer and going to live in a cave.

You mean guarantee custom stuff period. It's not guaranteed to be a custom move, it could also be Mii hats, equipment, a duplicate custom move, etc.

The trick doesn't guarantee moved, I've got over 15 custom rewards in one run once, only one of them is move.

Yeah, that's basically why that discovery isn't really gamebreaking or too notable, since it's actually pretty easy to time to roulette with some practice.
