Fuck Rosalina, she doesn't seem balanced around the 2 character gimmick at all.

On her own she's a better character than quite a few, nevermind when she's got that little shit with her that respawns in practically no time at all after you've just taken 20+ seconds to kill it.

I really hope she doesn't turn out to be the best character, I don't want tournaments full of a character I hate.
 
Also, the SMAAAASH!! effect should have appeared whenever you sweetspot the bat, I've been wanting that for such a long time so it's a bit of a disappointment that it's implemented in a way that I'll never see in game.

I always get stuck on the hill of the first part of the game at night. I do not know if I am stupid or what. I want to finish Earthbound proper sometime when I got the time. Perhaps in-between Smash and Bayonetta 2.

I don't know, it would be nice to get away from Fox, Sheik, and Marth's playstyles for once in terms of overall tournament play. Something like Rosalina would be welcome, especially since she can do interesting stuff with the Luma, in the same sort of way Ice Climbers were more interesting than other characters because of the amount of skill involved in properly utilizing them.

Zone control and manipulation is way more interesting than hitting someone with a sword until they fall down a hole.

As said, it appears they're slowly processing a lot, some dude on Twitter told me his game is now in the "preparing to dispatch" phase.

My card has yet to be charged.

I remember that happening on some of my earlier attempts to get into the game as well. Definitely do what you need to in order to push past that and get into the game proper, it's worth it.

Something tells me that she won't get that much usage this early since people might think that you need to learn Luma to do well with her, when it might not be the case at all if she's that strong.

For anybody worried about Amazon, after 30+ games ordered from them with release date shipping, they've not failed me once. Obviously that's only my experience, so I can't speak for everybody, but I think they're generally pretty good, even if it seems like it takes a little while for things to get moving.

Welp that was one of my fears. She never looked worse without luma (like Popo without Nana) aside from no long range shenanigans...for only 8 seconds lol.

Oh well the coming months/year will tell.

Same here, still says expected delivery Friday before 9pm though and they havent said anything untoward. At least I have Hyrule Warriors and Fantasy Life to play.

Also just cleared the last level on DKCTF to knock 1 more out my backlog. Man that game is hard, especially the K levels.
 
Earthbound's just unfun for me.

Maybe it gets better as you go on, but the early part of the game is a painful experience of grinding and getting killed.

Same here. I'm gonna wait till tomorrow before I decide whether or not to cancel my preorder and buy it in store.

I might not care about her being up there if I actually liked the character or felt like it took actual skill or at least some kind of risk assessment to use her.

It's ridiculous playing against her as Ness, takes way too long to get rid of the Luma with his shit moveset and then Rosalina will just spam a fuck ton of disjointed hitboxes and rolls for 5 seconds before she can spam the shit out of normals with the Luma again.

Most of her attacks put her slightly above ground for a time and the Luma hovers so PK Fire is practically useless in the matchup.

She just gets free, easy stage control, and if she plays badly and loses it? No problem, wouldn't want players to suffer for fucking up, have it back in 5 seconds!

It feels like she's a better character than most when she doesn't even have the Luma, that shouldn't happen.

Yeah, just got to get into the mindset. I have a boxed copy of Mother 2 that I got at a convention for like 30 bucks (including the manual as well). It is such a cool thing to have.

This is a fascinating question if only for making me realize that I have a lot of overall favorite series from Nintendo that have never had playable characters that completely grip me.

In general, I should be one of those Mario - Zelda - Metroid types because they are my three favorite Nintendo franchises with Pokemon, (good) Star Fox and Fire Emblem tied for fourth. In the context of Smash though, until now, the Mario series characters have never gripped me (exception to Luigi in 64), Zelda characters are traditionally bad except Shiek but she didn't really stand out to me until they gave her a new forward B and down B in 4, and Samus (while looking way better), still isn't the lightning bruiser and is instead the weird floaty and awkward character she's been since Melee. Zero Suit Samus looks incredible though.

As it stands now, Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus and Star Fox would probably be my top 3 since they've all provided my favorite Smash characters overall.
 
...So I just cancelled my Smash 3DS preorder
and put the money on Bayonetta 2 instead and paid it off!

Hopefully the download isn't super crazy tomorrow at midnight.
 
The odd thing for me is that if the game is made by some other than Nintendo, I can rely on Amazon to ship it release date. If it is published by Nintendo, then it tends to always ship the date of release instead. So I never pre-order Nintendo games from Amazon anymore because of it. It also helps that Amazon never gives pre-order bonuses to Nintendo games so I do not have to ever bother with it.

I think this kind of thinking is weird. I want to see more characters in the tops or with heavy visibility and fun match ups with the tops yeah, but not at the expense of good established character play styles.

Then again, I'm a weirdo that pretty much loves every character in most Smash games. (Brawl Metaknight didn't induce any snoozes from me and I don't hate the character either, but he's still an abomination of game design)

It's really weird that they didn't make it have the same rules than For Glory 1v1 (maybe more time). I guess they didn't really pay much attention to it.

Luckily, this things can be patched. Hopefully.

I remember feeling weirdly worried when I saw KDJ using the character at the Invitational to essentially camp with aerials the whole time in FFA to no real effect. It's kinda funny for me to think about now though, especially after realizing how bad FFAs are for gauging character strengths this early and seeing this day one stuff and realizing that no one's gotten to the point where they have all of Rosalina and Luma's nuances down yet.
