I feel like I'm the only person who did not complain that L = grab and R = shield in the demo. For some reason, it felt incredibly natural to me. I might have swapped it in the other games, but I really didn't remember.

Wasn't Z = grab and R = shield in Smash 64? Because that might be the reason.
I think it was the other way around, R was grab. But really you can use both to shield if you keep holding R.

Z is grab in the Gamecube and Wii Super Brothers games.

Personally it was going to bother me no matter how they did it; I use L for nothing except wavedash out of shield, and there only because I want two shield/airdodge buttons. Grab and shield are permanently on the same side in my mind.

You mean that attack where he does that squatting down stab? Its the best attack yo! :D
Win however you can. Pride on the battlefield are for the samurai.
and that samurai is an assist trophy now so we see where that pride got them :P

Yup. Squatting on easy victims felt cheap, but fun!

It really depends how you grab. I'm used to R + A to grab, always have been. So, obviously the 3DS system came completely naturally to me. I use R for basically everything: grab, shield, dodge, etc.

I did have to get used to not having an "instant grab" button. I realize L is insta-grab, but I can't do that with my left hand because reasons. Hopefully Wii U controls will be ZR Shield and R to grab. Anyone have confirmation on this?

Since the 3DS version allows you to change button inputs, you can in the WiiU version as well.

You'll be able to customize it however you want. And I agree with the r thing being normal for the same reasons.

My sears said they have not gotten the truck yet but they get it today, the guy asked ME what the release day was and as I was acting as a clueless customer I said today. He said to call back again later today then or tomorrow.... Hehe.... I might get lucky again ;)

It's weird. For some reason, it feels incredibly natural for me to grab with L and shield with R. So much that I was even confused when I heard so many people complaining about it. Yet, I don't remember ever changing the controls on either Melee or Brawl to be like that.

I know that when I get the full game, I'm not changing it back.

Well, I've walked off the edge of Battlefield once too may in the demo thanks to trying to roll with L+Direction and Pikachu just stepping off the edge instead that I know this setup just won't work for me, because dodging just has to be on instinct and instinct says "Left index finger" to me.

It's annoying that the control options menu was locked out of the demo. There really was no reason to lock that out, content wise.

Also I just got the title of this thread. Didn't expect a Pulp Fiction reference for a Smash thread, so it took a while to make it work.

Speaking of voices, does Jigglypuff still have the same voice clips dating back to 64? It's so inferior and less cuter than Purin voice.

Does anyone have clips of Little Mac's English voice? I saw someone taunting as him in the JP version and he would occasionally speak in a very deep voice. I'm curious as to what he sounds like in the NA version.

The voice you heard was Doc.
He just has grunts, don't know if they changed it.

Sadly it sounds to me like it's the same voice as the JP one. It doesn't sound anything like his voice in Punch-Out Wii. It's very deep. :(
