Luckily I think all you need is to use the same SD card on both systems to transfer saves. Both systems turned on to transfer NNID, which does it via Local Wifi. They fixed the whole "digital ownership" thing with NNID. So much easier.

No, it's all wireless but you do need a WiFi connection. Also make sure you follow the directions it gives you about SD cards so you don't end up overwriting your data.

Thanks again guys. I just saw your responses. I guess I'll go ahead and get it through the eShop.

Edit: There should be no problem moving my downloaded files to a new SD card on my current 3DS, right? I'm still using the one that came with the system but I have a 16 GB one I no longer need.

Yes, but we haven't heard anything from SuperSah about it.

I already announced that I'm waiting before compiling a list of people.

Right now, I'm super busy and haven't too much time to handle it, but i'll fit it into my college timetable.

Watch this spot in the coming week...

It kind of fits.

I'm hyped to see how Melee turns out at BH4. But since it is happening this weekend... are they doing a Smash 4 tournament?

IIRC, they're just going to have a small 3DS bracket on Friday.

Sonic is apparently dubbed in non english countries. At least that's what people that already have the game are saying here in Spain.

No, they aren't. Only Melee/PM. The date was set long before Smash 4's date announcement so it was more of a coincidence it was happening the same weekend. Plus, I don't think Juggleguy wanted to bite off more than he could chew. He's having 500+ Melee entrants and over 300 PM entrants. That's 800 people he has to manage already >_>

Still gutted Hades didn't for this one honestly. Would have been a new addition that I REALLY loved, apart from Villager all the additions are sorta... "eh".

I'm hoping for a hades-centered stage in smash wii u, complete with witty banter about the fighters being used (like the codec calls)

I would LOVE to see a "combo" or compilation video of Little Mac landing his KO punch on a bunch of people synced to some awesome music!

I want a Smash Tournament stage where all of the playable characters comment on the match (akin to announcers). Even the non-intelligible would make noises and cheers.

I think the issue is more that Waluigi with Wario's moveset would make no sense at all. Waluigi has never been portrayed as having a bike, or being flatulent, and a bite move would look stupid.

Not all moves would have to be the same of course. They could give him the semi-clone moveset with original B moves instead. But it won't happen, so whatever.

Would people be down for weekly one-day tournaments? I'm thinking Sundays at the afternoon or early evening (ET). It would be first-come first-serve for sign up, except the top 2 of the previous week would not need to sign up unless they don't want to.

The times it would take up using certain formats are listed below. The time shown is the amount it takes is if you were to partake in all matches, so it mostly affects the top 3 (for double elimination):
95 minutes (1 hour 35 min): 8 players only, double elimination, best of 3
110 minutes (1 hour 50 min): 16 players only, double elimination, best of 3
95 minutes (1 hour 35 min): 32 players only, single elimination, best of 3

All of them will be 1v1 / 2 stocks / 5 min / no items.

And stages would be whatever is popular with tournaments (Battlefield, Final Destination, Yoshi's Island, & Lumiose City so far).

Thing to note, ! forgot about doing best of 5 for winners final, losers final, and grand finals when calculating the time and was too lazy to to redo it lol. The most it would add is probably 50 min assuming that the loser reset the bracket. Best of 5 would be the format used for those rounds, unless the players agree to go with a best of 3 format due to time or something. And all of the times shown are just time estimates and can be off in either direction.

With the 8 player ruleset, I was thinking we can have multiple small tournaments and use it for seeding or something to place players with people with similar records together. Could be like a mini-league of some sort.

Also would like to have EU, JP, and NA players separate unless lag isn't as much of an issue.

Suggest your own format (number of players, single or double elimination, or best of #) if you want. And leave some feedback or something.

Also, it would be easier if people signed up for Challonge and use its tools.

...On second thought... WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST READ?

Oh boy, he did a good job becoming a poster child of the "melee elitist" boogeyman with that dribble. Objectively 100 times worse...good lord.

On another note, I really wished Florida would break street dates sometime; I can't think of a single instance where a shop here has.

Man, I'm really in the minority because I actually like Brawl a lot more than Melee. I've been told millions of times how much better Melee is, but no matter how many times I'm told, I still don't agree. There are just so many things about Melee that I don't like.
- I don't like air dodging and being completely helpless afterward.
- I don't like how heavy the characters feel
- I don't like trying to do an up tilt, but jump instead because I can't turn off tap jump
- I don't like not being able to do a dash attack with C-stick
- I don't like accidentally sidestepping when I'm trying to do a freakin down smash
- And generally I just don't like not feeling in control of my character at all times

I don't really agree with the idea that making the game more like Melee wouldn't upset the less competitive people. I'm not super competitive, but I do at least notice the differences in the two games well enough to prefer how Brawl generally feels. Personally I'm glad Sakurai's trying for a bit of a middle ground with Smash 4 and not making it a Melee 2.0. People who enjoy Brawl matter too...

You can just copy and paste the contents of the old SD card to the new one as long as you're using both cards on the same 3DS.

Sounds good, I'm in.

Alright, I'm in when I'm available.

I'm up for this, assuming my online connection isn't booty.

Sounds good. Also looks like I'll need to sign up at challonge lol.

This could be fun, I'd be up for it if I was available. Work weekends though so I'm not sure if or how often I could participate.

I feel like it should be at least 16 players initially, and I prefer double elimination to single. Depending on how active it is that could be adjusted. 2 stocks feels like so few, but 2 stock/5 minutes probably is the best bet in terms of time. Best of 3 with best of 5 for the winners/losers/grand finals sounds good.

Smash 4 isn't really a middle ground, it's more like Brawl without some of the things that made Brawl bad.

It's kind of funny though, because a lot of the things you listed are the things that Melee players like. Especially character control, you have a lot more control over your character in high level Melee play than Brawl or (probably) Smash 4.

Anyway, I think the people who want Literally Melee™ are a minority, most people just want something that builds on what Melee did well for the competitive scene. To put it simply, gameplay that rewards good offense, plus more neutral stage options. In fact, most probably want a suitable new Smash game to at least go alongside Melee/PM, that's why the so many competitive players were anticipating the game enough to import it, and it's why many are so critical. They don't complain because they want to hate it, they complain because they want to love it.

All this talk about Bowser Jr. makes me wonder how you guys actually thought he'd play before learning he would use the clown car. Heck, what did you think about how other newcomers would play if you didn't know how he would play.
Bowser jr. in my mind would hardly be a lightweight Bowser in my mind. My idea prior to the leak was that Bowser Jr. would takes bits of Squirtle and Bowser and some original stuff too.
His neutral Special would be the Paintbrush where if you charged it, it would fire a paintball with some damage and knockback but put the opponent in a sticky state where they moved slower. The Paintbrush itself would have a hitbox and good knockback on the swing.
His Side Special would be a Fire Spin similar to Squirtle's Rapid Spin. More for movement than damage.
His Up Special would be riding the Clown Car. A slower more controllable recovery Funnily enough, with the real game, this is the only move where he doesn't you the clown car though it makes the most sense.
His Down Special was hard to decide but it would probably be tinkering with those Bowser robots with more movement the longer it was held sort of like ROB Gyromite.
His attacks especially his aerials would draw from Bowser. He'd probably have Squirtle's Side Smash.
Final Smash would either be Shadow Mario similar to his actual one or the Airship from Galaxy

Does anybody know if you can transfer downloaded games from one 3DS to another? I'm strongly considering buying this on the eShop so that I'll always have it on hand to play other people, but I want to be able to move it to a new 3DS if I get one of the new models.

Don't know if this has been answered, but: yes, you can. I transfered all my data from my slightly broked 3DS XL to my vanilla 3DS yesterday, and Smash works perfectly.

Yep, you have to migrate the entire system, you can't transfer individual games around, but you totally can!
