Is the REmake still easier with Jill, like the original was?

It's not labeled easy anymore, and both characters have a lot of advantages and disadvantages. Jill is probably still the better character for beginners. But Chris does have some nice perks like faster running speed.

I've played the original through on both, but it was over 15 years ago. I think I tried Chris at first back then, but got frustrated and did my first playthrough with Jill. I eventually managed to unlock the unlimited Magnum by playing the advanced mode. Is that reward still there?

REmake Id say yes...

However I always felt Jill was harder for the original game if played on Hard Mode. She was routinely one shotted by Hunters, and one single zombie bite = red danger. Chris' health really helps in Hard mode for the original.

I only beat the original with Chris. I could never get over how Jill would die after so little damage.
 
I REALLY hope they add quick reload, and the option to skip doors after you've finished the game once. Quick knife should be an option too.

I wonder if they're going to add any content. The achievements don't seem to hint at any.

Jill's also the better choice because she's the best character in the series. :)

It might have been, that I played the advanced mode with Chris, but I probably used the double ammo trick.

Unless you mean in-REmake images, in which case if they were already in game it would defeat the purpose of this little contagion game they're running...

i wonder if they're gonna add more stuff like modes or secret items
 
Who would even play with these utterly meh outfits? Chris and Jill STARS uniforms are the non plus ultra of what you'd expect for a make-believe setting special force unit.

I can approve of those costumes, STARS Chris is at an ok size like Revelations, even if I prefer his skinniest self due to the feeling of vulnerability.

I like the achievements list, wish they dropped some references to the original voice acting though. I hope to see a PC mod with the original voice tracks synced, anyone want this lol? "Jill Sandwich" during the ceiling collapse scene would be perfect.

No, any future game starring Chris should have him back at REmake size with his older facial features.
 
Chris has two less inventory slots compared to Jill too.. I've done pretty much all of those requirements either on PS1 or GC, apart from the knife one :-D

I would,
alternate costumes are always nice especially when its something that wasn't previously in this game.
I'd use UC and Rev costumes as well.

Jill's shoulder pads always looked stupid to me. Her BSAA costume is much better.
 
Boring costumes. I hope they add some new ones. Chris had a ninja outfit in Deadly Silence, so I'd like any new ones to be at least that goofy. I also hope you can choose outfits before stating a game so you don't have to run to the secret room before you can change.
 
Sorry but no, it's ruined by that stupid baseball cap.
baseball cap makes sense as that costume was designed as a "casual" uniform like Chris' Africa gear
but they ending up using that design for the flashback which doesn't really work well with the tactical BSAA stuff Chris has in the flashback.

I hate how they suggest a return of the beret in Jill's Rev concept art but drop it in the final game

One thing that has always bothered me is Jill almost never has a proper uniform/protection.
RE1 =all STARS in body armor(including Rebecca) but Jill just wearing shoulder pads
RE3 = lol
UC = Chris and troops in body armor, Jill in a coat
LIN = Chris in body armor Jill wearing casual gear similar to Chris' Africa gear.

REV is like the only design that was well suited for the mission.

Your not alone an original voices mod would be amazing, I love that awful dialogue. For more serious reasons I'd also like an original soundtrack mod as I think that for most tracks the originals OST is better than the Remakes.

Personally I like REmake's OST better aside from a few awesome tracks from RE1, but I can respect your opinion. I think everyone can agree that REmake OST smokes Revelations and RE6 out of the water.

Run past all zombies and Lisa. If you don't kill any zombies, Crimson Heads won't spawn and really... you shouldn't be killing Zombies anyway in REbirth

The only tricky bits are the bosses. Which is a "git gud or die trying" moment.
 
Capcom just streamed gameplay of REmaster at TGS. I don't have a link to the presentation, but I assume there will be an on demand version of the presentation uploaded somewhere later.

A couple of my impressions:
- 16:9 panning looks well implemented, it moves very smoothly. I'll personally stick to 4:3 but I think both options look good.
- New controls are basically DMC-style. You turn in any direction instantly (it basically means turning and walk back animations are gone completely). I personally think it looks super ugly. It also looks like it would make evasion and combat much easier as you can instantly run in any direction.
- I didn't get a close look, but it looks like they did a good job with the animated parts of backgrounds. Like the grass in the cemetery.

Can you tell us whether or not they mentioned any news regarding the GOLD DLC for RE5 for Steamworks?

Pretty sure RE5 steamworks wasn't talked about at all. However, someone posted a chat they had with a Capcom USA employee some days where they strongly implied the steamworks version WILL get GE content.

Yeah, it looks like N64 RE2, where you can run in circles and it looks silly.
