A question just crossed my mind, does anyone know if it's possible to use G-sync and 3d vision at the same time with this monitor?
Silly question but would there be any issues with using this with consoles? About to move for work into an apartment and I don't feel like dragging my huge old t.v. with me with so much new tech out. Obviously there being one port would be annoying and require an adapter but would there be any visual weirdness? Of course it wouldn't get any of the advantages it's built for when not using it with my desktop, but it's just a temporary solution while I get living space worked out. And wait for LG to put out their 4K oled later this year, got to go for broke!

This is kind of bullshit.VA also has the worst response time of all LCD panel tech which is why TVs use it where contrast ratio really matters. On a computer monitor the black level matters not at all.

I'd stay away from any monitor that is >1080p unless it's 4k. Scaling will be terrible.
Old VA had bad response times. Modern VA response times are good enough, and can even be excellent as Eizo has so impressively proven.VA also has the worst response time of all LCD panel tech which is why TVs use it where contrast ratio really matters.
That's just nonsense. You can use (and most of us interested in expensive monitors do use) a monitor for media (games, streams, movies etc.) just like a TV. As such, its image quality, including contrast ratio, is just as highly relevant as it is for TVs.On a computer monitor the black level matters not at all.

Need your opinion on this guys, should I buy this monitor or go with the Eizo Foris? I love the concept of G-Sync, but I can't go back to TN panels anymore. Eizo's monitor seems like the best compromise, but it doesn't have G-Sync...
I planned on getting(may still lol as second monitor) the ASUS ROG Swift but shit was just taking too long to release... and i have been without a monitor for a month now. So i decided to try the Eizo FG2421. Reason being i remember seeing Durante and one other praise this monitor?
Holyshit guys... this may be offtopic for the thread but i would seriously consider trying the Eizo while the Swift is not yet out for those still in agonizing wait. Granted, this is my first 120hz monitor, which in of itself feels fucking ACE. Desktop browsing is seriously a different experience. In short, it felt like going from SD to HD lol. But the monitor also has a 240hz mode that, in my eyes, produces no blur at all. With the 240hz mode on, i went to testufo and sure enough, i saw the litte UFO guy cruise 15-20 times with no blur. Its pretty slick and amazing.
But the other amazing thing is that the Eizo has incredible picture quality, specifically its black levels. Rocked a Dell u2711 before and this blows its contrast out of the water, in addition to a non existent glow... for the first time in owning a monitor, i could see myself playing both AAA/cinematic and competitive games on this as opposed to using my Pioneer Kuro TV(was used exclusively for cinematic games before), which i believe speaks volume. Colors on this are not reproduced as well as the dell u2711 however but i feel they are still good. Definitely wayyyyyyyy better than my friends TN panel from Asus. That shit was butt ugly.
And the best part? I feel like i have a huge ass advantage in FPS games and Dota 2. Seriously lol. Its like i am cheating, especially in Dota 2 with cs and pudge hooks. I also feel like this thing has no perceivable lag? Felt like the dell u2711 had more input lag, but even then, that monitor was hardly as bad as what most people are experiencing on TV's lol.
It all depends on how much you want G-Sync, I guess. It's completely vital to me.
switched from IPS to 120hz TN a few years ago, its fine, your eyes get used to it

Luckily or unluckily I've always had terrible monitors so hopefully the view range/color will actually be an improvement to me :P Think my SP2 is an IPS screen though.
I so wish they made a 1440p version of thatI planned on getting(may still lol as second monitor) the ASUS ROG Swift but shit was just taking too long to release... and i have been without a monitor for a month now. Ok well, I figured what was wrong. The culprit was the oculus rift driver. If I want it to work correctly, I have to uninstall the oculus runtime and its associated drivers.
It means from now on I will have to reinstall/uninstall the oculus runtime each time I want to use my oculus rift until either nvidia or oculus fix the issue.
I so wish they made a 1440p version of that![]()
Not gonna happen.Anyone else hoping the price goes down quite a lot in the next 6 months?
Read this: http://www.blurbusters.com/gsync/preview/Question: How is 1080p/60 gaming on these kinds of monitors if your rig isn't good enough for max res and framerate?

Honestly you don't really need to run games at 1080p. I was afraid the resolution would have a huge impact on the framerate, but with a GTX770 2gig it's barely noticeable.Question: How is 1080p/60 gaming on these kinds of monitors if your rig isn't good enough for max res and framerate?
ULMB: Okay so I've never looked into this and I've never used a 120hz / 144hz panel before... ULMB blew my mind. Everything feels so smoooooooth. This should be the main selling point. If you have this monitor, you will probably have a decent rig that can pump 100+fps and you will probably use this feature more than GSYNC.
Gsync oh my god
omg
i...can't
Nvidia you da real MVP
do I have God mode enabled? No bitch just Gsync omg
Does it do ULMB at 85Hz? I was wondering how that would look, could be a good compromise setting for some games.
Currently, G-SYNC and ULMB is a mutually-exclusive choice – you cannot use both simultaneously (yet), since it is a huge engineering challenge to combine the two.
G-SYNC: Eliminates stutters, tearing and reduces lag, but not motion blur.
LightBoost/ULMB: Eliminates motion blur, but not stutters or tearing.
Motion blur eliminating strobe backlights (LightBoost or ULMB) always looks best when strobe rate matches frame rate. Such strobe backlights tend to run at high refresh rates only, in order to avoid flicker (to avoid eyestrain-inducing 60Hz style CRT flicker).
We found that G-SYNC looked nicer at the low frame rates experienced in both Battlefield 4 and Crysis 3, while ULMB looked very nice during Counter Strike: GO. We did not yet do extensive tests on input lag, but preliminary checks shows that ULMB adds only approximately 4ms (center/average) input lag compared to VSYNC OFF or good frame-capped G-SYNC. If you do, however, use ULMB, and you prefer not to fully lock the frame rate to refresh rate, then using a close frame rate works well (e.g. fps_max 118) as a latency compromise, if you prefer the motion clarity of ULMB.
It is a personal preference whether to use G-SYNC or ULMB. As a rule of thumb:
G-SYNC: Enhances motion quality of lower & stuttery frame rates.
LightBoost/ULMB: Enhances motion quality of higher & consistent frame rates.
Yes, the G-SYNC upgrade kit includes ULMB. ULMB works in multiple monitor mode (much more easily than LightBoost) even if G-SYNC can only work on one monitor at a time. Currently, G-SYNC only works on the primary monitor at this time, with current NVIDIA drivers.
I will re post my first impressions of g-sync from the pc thread
it is unbelievable. i am almost speechless. can't breath.
ULMB i haven't even tried. are you saying...ULMB might make me faint?
brehs believe da hype
No way
Demand is way too high for this product
Glad you're finding g-sync to live up to the hype. Some were saying it wasn't as big a deal as they'd hoped. Stuttering doesn't bother some though, ignorance is bliss!
Looking forward to trying some games at 120-144 hz too, have never seen anything beyond 60 FPS. Don't imagine I'll be using it too often until a card refresh or two given the level of IQ I like though.
Edit: Definitely want this monitor, so where should I be looking to for a purchase? Going to be leaving next week for 2-3 weeks of training and then moving after that so I realistically won't be using it for a month or so. Imagine stock will be easily available by then?
This is objective fact here.ULMB: Okay so I've never looked into this and I've never used a 120hz / 144hz panel before... ULMB blew my mind. Everything feels so smoooooooth. Try tigerdirect, apparently it's in stock over there at the moment.
