The tweet is literally asking the same question I am.

Just read that the the cop that killed mike brown is the mayor's nephew? Is this true?

Saying "just read that the cop is the mayor's nephew?" is completely different than reading about someone asking "is he the nephew?" on twitter. Without any possible form of confirmation, it remains only that. But eh, anyways no I haven't heard a thing regarding it. That would be nuts.

Bop it.

Asking questions like that is a form of manipulation and can cause some problems. Even if it's not true, people will have it in their heads and can come to believe it like believing that power lines gives you cancer.

Fair enough. Wasn't my intention to poison the discussion by raising the question. Was genuinely curious. My bad, bros. I'll avoid doing this from now on and I'm not being facetious at all.

And man, if anything this should show people how utterly full of shit Anonymous is. You could argue that they were putting an innocent at risk to force the police's hand, but they were claiming accuracy when they've failed so often at that.

Eh, Anonymous definitely screwed up, but this wasn't a unified opinion. Apparently there was a lot of dissent toward releasing the name, since many didn't think it was accurate. Some people probably just joined and got involved over these recent events and got hot-headed and posted the first possible lead, to much dissent. Doesn't excuse it, and this person could have faced a lot of terrible things, but painting Anonymous as this single hivemind isn't right in this case

The joke being that he's randomly asserting something horrible in the form of a question, I think.

It's even more than that, there's no correct answer for the question.

If you say yes then that means that you used to beat your wife and if you say no that means that you're still beating her.

Fox News has turned this type of question into an art form.

No way I didn't mean to come across as such, I think any questions are definitely welcome. You're far from poisoning the discussion lol, there's been MUCH worse said here in the last thousands of posts.

Correct answer: "Why would you ask such a cruel leading question? Never touched my wife"

It's funny how black eyewitnesses don't mean shit in the media. I find it incredible that we have 3 different people and one person who live-tweeted the incident saying the same thing but they are all discounted for the police narrative

WAT

https://twitter.com/ShaunKing/status/500359527305592832

"Police Chief JUST CONFIRMED that the shooting officer, Darren Wilson DID NOT write his own incident report. INSANITY."

I imagine if you are the officer that is responsible for a police-involved shooting you don't write your own incident report. It's handed over to internal investigations or a third party police agency for review and presentation to a grand jury. It would be more shocking if the guy wrote the incident report.

I Google Instant Searched "Black people are..." and holy shit...

Edit: Then I searched for "White people are..." and got some "Black people are..." results :P

I genuinely have no clue.

But why do you imagine that?

It's the most important witness account. Why would it be proxied?

In order for black witnesses to count there needs to be at least 8 of them with a majority being college educated registered republicans.

MSNBC was on at the gym just now.

Maddow was going over the Johnson press conference earlier today. Apparently he brought in protestors, and then answered questions directed at them. The media got pissed he wasnt speaking into their mics, and he told the media that the community was more important.

Nice dude. Would promote.

Where the hell did this guy come from? A fucking diamond in the rough.

Guy could very well be the solution that the state is looking for (but will likely ignore).

Hope this guy has some local political aspirations, he certainly seems to have the most sane temperament of any state players involved.

I gotta say, is he that good? Or are the other guys just that bad. This should be the STANDARD for law enforcement not the exception.

Why not both? I think he is that good and the other guys are that bad. I would have never believed that two nights ago and last night happened one day apart if I hadn't seen it for myself.

Is it possible the truth of what happened probably lies somewhere in between the two extremes. The shooting officer didn't know about the robbery/shoplifting, but Brown might not have known that and there might have a motive to either resist arrest or obstruct the officer if he thought he was going to get arrested and go to jail for the shoplifting/robbery. On the flip side, the shooting officer could have reacted really poorly during a physical altercation and used lethal force when non-lethal force would have sufficed. I don't know. I hate how with these things you always end up either having to be for or against two different version of events. I feel like in this case the only two sides you can choose right now are either the cop is a homicidal maniac who executed a young black kid for no reason or the racist side that believes the black kid committed a robbery so he must have done something to deserve being shot and killed. Isn't it entirely possible the truth lies somewhere in between? Shit like this takes a long time to investigate anyway. I will say how police handled the protesters and the media's coverage of the riots was an absolute shit show worthy of scorn.

The officer reacting poorly is an understatement. We have three witnesses, one of which live-tweeted the shooting showing that Brown was running and was getting shot in the back, turned around with his hands up and then got shot several times more.

Yeah, we're pretty much agreeing (though maybe my post came off as a bit of hyperbole because of the excitement of a sane person among such a cesspool of idiocy). I didn't mean he's like a Super Man or anything. He's just a competent person in public service who meets the standard of what should be expected in that position. And it's PAINFULLY obvious that the people of Missouri need that type of person to be in the spotlight.

This clip from the Wire someone posted last night was so fitting.

Believe it or not, treating the community like human beings you are concerned about actually has a positive effect!

Ah, didn't know about the live tweet. Yeah, that's horrible.

A big problem that I'm seeing, at least amongst some of my white friends, is that the eyewitness accounts by black witnesses are automatically discounted without explanation especially when their account goes against their worldview.

I'm not sure if they'd feel differently if there had been a white person nearby to back up the other eyewitnesses but it seemed like their attitude was automatically that those people must be lying without even a second thought or debate.

I saw the exact same thing during the Trayvon Martin saga. Every conversation with them started with how everything happened exactly the way George Zimmerman said without a second thought about any other possibility or how ridiculous Zimmerman's many stories were.

I swear, the cop could come out tomorrow and say that Mike Brown got in and out of his police cruiser to snatch his gun using trans-space warp teleportation and all they'd say in response would be "plz, typical black people always going around breaking the laws of physics anytime they feel like it.".

They're just my work friends and they're completely brainwashed, mostly by watching Fox News everyday. They're really not bad people and I try to help them but they're mostly too far gone.

Can't wait to see the media turn on him because he ignored them. Media doesn't care about the protestors, they only cared when their own members were arrested.

I wouldn't be surprised if they secretly hope the protests turn violent again so they can get ratings.
