Ferguson: Police Kill 18yo Black Male; Fire Gas/Rubber Bullets Into Protesting Crowds

Watching Al Sharpton on MSNBC now, Lisa Bloom (former prosecuter) asks, "how many black witnesses is it going to take to outweigh the testimony of one white police officer?" Damn good question. Right now we have 3 witnesses that have been interviewed by TV hosts. Almost all of them recounted their stories IMMEDIATELY after the shooting. We have a fourth witness that live tweeted the shooting immediatlely after it happened, and came to the same conclusion in real time that the other 3 witnesses came to. What the fuck more do the people of Ferguson have to do to get an arrest of this man?

The US constitution does not allow a police officer to shoot an unarmed, non-violent suspect in flight who does not pose a serious risk to public safety.

This was determined in a 1985 supreme court case, Garner v Tennessee. The justices ruled that deadly force “may not be used unless necessary to prevent the escape and the officer has probable cause to believe that the suspect poses a significant threat of death or serious bodily harm to the officer or others”.

The decision limited the long-standing “fleeing felon” rule that permitted officers to use deadly force against a suspect who was trying to escape, even if the person in flight was not a threat to the public.

There is no way Brown was a significant threat to anyone

The chief knew exactly what he was doing when he released the tape today. It's character assassination, plain and simple.

I don't expect Darren Wilson to be found guilty of anything at the end of his trial.

Sadly I've lost hope as well. I wanted to stay optimistic about it, but with the way the police department spinning shit and how so many people are eating it up, it's hard to stay optimistic. The apathy towards Brown and blacks in general, and the quickness of victim blaming him, I doubt much will happen.

Yeah, I have pretty much given up hope for any justice being served. Brown will be painted as a criminal, and the ignorant public will believe his death is therefore justified. Essentially, a murderer will be acquitted, a man will be dead, a family will be grieving without justice being served, and a community will remain infuriated. Nothing will be solved.

I am probably being negative about the situation, but I have seen how character assassination cases have worked out in the past. I will pray that this turns out differently though because change is needed so badly.

If Trayvon was able to be successfully labelled as a hopeless thug because he smoked some pot, you can bet your sweet ass the same will happen to Brown for swiping some cigarillos.

Wait I haven't read the thread in a little while. He backtracked on that?

You know you done fucked right has NEVER been more appropriate

Probably already posted but

An officer at Darren Wilson's house says Wilson and his family left days ago, @yamiche & co. report http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...souri-police-michael-brown-shooting/14098369/ …

I wonder if they told him to haul ass the same day.

so this is confirmed then..?

I'd say so, here's the direct quote:

FERGUSON, Mo. — Michael Brown was identified as a suspect in a strong-arm robbery of a box of cigars moments before he was shot to death by Officer Darren Wilson, police said Friday.

However, in an afternoon press conference by Ferguson, Mo. Police Chief Thomas Jackson, said the two incidents were not related. He said Wilson did not know about the robbery when he confronted and then shot Brown, whose death spurred violent protests and unrest in the St. Louis suburb over the past week.

Wilson stopped Brown and a friend because "they were in the middle of the street, blocking traffic," Jackson said.

He said he "speculates" that the officer might have seen the stolen cigars after stopping Brown but doesnt know for sure.

The doubters have to experience the same treatment to believe it's real. It's cognitive dissonance, akin to believing that one day you will be rich by working hard.

great, so cop gets off for killing an unarmed black man with the law backing him, again.

No, the cops gets off for killing an unarmed felony suspect as the law dictates he has the legal right.

Though I would assume that law is in place for more egregious felonies, such as shooting at a fleeing murder/rape suspect to prevent more murders/rapes.

Though morally, this is still reprehensible.

Any potential Negro witness needs 2 white persons to vouch for him before we can accept Negro testimony.

Is Wilson even going to be tried? Where are the charges? Is it going to take another 7 days for his photo? Another 7 days for his birth date? Another 7 days for his address? Another 7 days for the prosecutors to say, there's not enough evidence to charge him? Shit's ridiculous.

My father also feels that Dorian's eyewitness testimony is diminished because of the video, but then...what about the other eyewitnesses lol

I think that would be hard to prove in court considering that it's been stated the cop didn't know about the robbery.

With the attention this has gotten as well as the three or possible more eye witness reports of Brown submitting with his hands in the air, I'm confident this officer will fall. How hard I can't say. But it's possible I am being naive.

It's not the robbery that's the felony, as soon as he put his hands on the officer (if that did actually happen) it's assault on a peace officer and immediately he is now a felony suspect.

Somebody posted earlier that is a misdemeanor or was that information incorrect for this city?

Edit: though I'm sure they will argue he went for the gun which I'm sure is a felony anyway.

Witness reports are also saying he had his hands up before he was killed. At this point he would no longer be fleeing.

Releasing this footage was a brilliant idea if the goal was to make the dead kid look like a thug to the general public. People around me are already going like "Of course! I knew something like that would come to light eventually! It's always the case with these people in the end!" This isn't even some small town, either. It's SoCal FFS.

Depressing...
Probably the most depressing thing of all. People waving this away in their minds because of something that literally had nothing to do with his death is just the laziest form of racism you can come up with.

There's already been a call to remove the current prosecutor for maybe having ill intentions, no word on that. If nothing happens on that, I wouldn't be surprised for a prosecutor to throw the case without it even going to trial.

The worst thing is that a lot of people are still going to be like "well, if he didn't break the law, he wouldn't have died that night" in order to completely evade the issue.

Fuck this, I'm going for a walk too.

It wouldn't matter that the cop didn't know about the robbery to apply the rule, but I don't want to open up another legal can of worms. Just trust me, haha. The questions of fact will not surround whether there was a felony or not but what danger did the officer reasonably believe Brown to pose to the officer and others, and does the evidence establish that Brown stopped running and surrendered. If that last answer is yes, then the first question won't even matter.

I somehow believe despite my cynicism and familiarity with the system that this guy will be found guilty, and I don't normally think the right outcome is likely, especially when a police officer is involved.

CNN just finished talking about Mike's friend Dorian Johnson who was with him during the robbery.

The footage they showed had Mike handing Dorian some 'cigars' which Dorian then returned back to the counter after a few seconds of holding it before they exited. Don said according to Dorian's Attorney that Dorian doesn't steal which was the reason why no charges were laid against him.

It could be that Dorian is telling the truth about what has happened right up to the shooting as it is also consistent with 2 other witness testaments shown on CNN as well as another from a twitter user who was present at the scene at the time.

The interview is to be shown later on Anderson Cooper 360

lol, I'm just waiting to see how many black witnesses its going to take before a prosecutor takes the case. We're at 4 or 5 now. The NAACP should just put out call for witnesses in the area and provide them with an attorney. If this were a non-police shooting and the police had this many witnesses coming to them, the perp. would have already made a deal with the prosecutor and plead guilty at this point.

The thing is if the cop did get a head injury you just know they'll just blame the shooting on temporary disorientation to minimise his culpability. Impaired judgment due to the vicious attack on him kind of stuff.

The defense will mostly say the cop had no idea about the strong armed robbery. He rolled up on the two in the middle of the road wanting them to move to the sidewalk, Mike Brown panics thinking he's going to get arrested, assaults the unaware police officer and gets shot. The video will be used to show he is violent and extremely large.

You mean one of his buddies back at the station hit him over the head? He was so out of it he couldn't write his own police report?

Oh, I think he will get off with a relative slap on the wrist for a variety of factors. I just think he will be found guilty assuming evidence doesn't come to light that casts doubt on Brown stopping and surrendering. I could be wrong, I am not a soothsayer by any means.

As others have said. The video is so tame compared to the stills. And didn't someone say he tried to pay for the Swisher Sweets? Probably had a $100 bill. Store probably has some shit nothing larger than a $20. Dude was like fuck this...I'm just taking them then if you don't want my money...all speculation of course but why didn't the clerk take his money if he indeed tried to pay for it?

" Can you say without a reasonable doubt that my client didn't have cause to believe the deceased was a threat to society?"

I can't help but feel bad for Capt. Ron Johnson. He obviously means well, but he's clearly being used by his superiors. How can they not give him all the information that is going to be made public before it's released?

Ferguson Police Department: Writers Wanted

Mike Brown had just stolen a pack of cigarillos Cubans and was strolling down the middle of the street like he owned the place. Policeman Darren Wilson, a loving husband and father to 2.5 honor roll kids, was on patrol, trying to keep the streets safe, and presently he pulled up cautiously to the hulking Mike Brown and his accomplice.

"Hey fellas, would you mind keeping off the roads? Thanks."

Mike Brown stared at the officer. "Get fucked, pig."

Darren Wilson felt less than human under Brown's gaze. He pulled away, when a call came over his radio. "Store robbery reported, large black male suspect." Darren looked in his rearview mirror. There were not only one but TWO black males! Surely one of them might be the suspect, or at least know them in this tight-knit colored community! Wilson threw his car into reverse, pulling aside the negroes, and asked if they knew anything about any robberies.

Suddenly, Mike Brown took an aggressive step toward the vehicle! Lunging through the window, his black hands went instinctively for the cop's gun, a trait passed down in the Black Gene to all black males. Darren Wilson feared for his life, and accidentally fired the gun at Mike Brown.

Mike Brown staggered back, and started to run. Officer Wilson couldn't believe it... how could he run after being shot? Surely he was on the African Rage Drug, and if he got out into the community... God only knew what rampage he could go on then.

Thinking of his wife and children back home, Mr. Wilson fired another shot, striking Mike Brown in the back. "Surely that will be enough to end this menace," Darren thought, but his eyes widened as the giant black figure turned around, a sneer on his lips. Darren couldn't believe it... how could he still be standing....?

Unless...
He was inhuman?!

Officer Wilson gritted his teeth, knowing that his time had come. Clearly the animals in Ferguson had been working on this monster for some time, and were about to unleash him on unsuspecting white suburbs.

Knowing it was likely futile, Officer Wilson fired his weapon, crying out for God's help. It felt like it took so many bullets... but finally the demon fell. Darren fired at the downed body, just to be sure. Darren put his gun back in his holster, wondering when the president would call him and thank him for saving America. In the meantime, though, another call came in over the radio. Some dangerous foreigners wielding cameras were shooting policemen with them. It seemed an officer's work was never truly done.

"He said don't shoot, but he was still running. The question is to where? If he truly had nothing to fear and if he wasn't going to be a danger to someone else, he would have just stopped!"

FUUUUUUUU-

Man, these past 2 years have made me cynical as fuck. It's pretty much over as far as I'm concerned.

Character assassination is now 100% successful. The 'thug' label can be handed to him and is it even 100% wrong at this point considering what he did? That cop isnt going to get shit for time and people will say that he deserved to be killed because he's a menace to society....even though the two incidents have nothing to do with each other.

It was over the moment he got shot. Even if he had a clean record, the cop wouldn't have been convicted. Same with the other beatings/shooting this week.

According to the report, he asked for several boxes and then tried to pass one to his friend. The clerk saw this and called him out on it, so that's when he grabbed the rest, pushed the clerk away, and took off.

There was a female witness to this who was the one who called 911.
