Same, this is the best way to play it. It's also awesome how fast things turn to shit when you get caught, some places can be tough and every single bullet.can save your life so make them count!
For this reason my advice is to play it at hard immediately. At normal there are still too many knives to open the doors and get stocks and if you want to really enjoy the game, you don't want easy stocks..

Sometimes sounds in games throw me off. Like I swear I hear something that's coming from one direction, but it's actually coming from the other direction. Maybe it's my M50's that's not getting the job done and why the Sony Gold 7.1 Headset would be ideal for this game.

Really listen mode on or off depends solely on your play style and what type of experience you are looking for. My first playthrough, I started on hard with listen mode on. I played very slowly and cautiously, always using listen mode. About midway through the game I sunk some time in the mp and found that the slow and steady approach, while relying on listen mode wasn't working so well for mp. I changed things up to being much more aggressive while still maintaining stealth, so instead of sitting and waiting, I was always moving and flanking. Once I made this change, not only did my mp game dramatically improve, but so did sp. I played the rest of the sp listen mode off, playing very similarly to how I approached the mp. Not only did the tension increase tenfold, but I was better equipped to react when things went bad.
I don't say you can't enjoy the game with listening mode. But i remember the situation staying at a place, panning the camera and then getting suprised by an enemy and fighting for my life. You get almost paranoid afterwards and start checking every corner two times.

Or in open combat where the enemies start flanking you and you have to control every direction. You know they are coming but you don't see them. Loved it like that.

It wasn't one, but that's only really evident if you died and played the sequence a few times to figure things out which feels shitty. That part was definitely tuned to normal difficulty and trying to fight through it on Hard no listen was a pain.

Not having listening mode isn't that bad. Just use headphones and pay attention to the woo-ish sound that happens when a human enemy starts to see you. You can also quickly run through a level the first time you're there to get a sense of how many enemies there are and where they patrol.
Exactly this. The woo-ish sound is the reason why you dont need listen mode. When you hear that ambient creepy build up, that should be all your senses need to realize someone or something is either right there or mighty close by and to keep your distance and keep an eye out.
I guess I'll just never understand the people that use LM as a crutch for how they play. I mean Normal mode, sure I get it, especially if you don't consider yourself that good at third person shooters or exploratory action games or it's your first time and you need your TLOU cherry popped. But listen mode? You're completely killing such a large portion of tension and fun to me. Joel isn't Batman. He's just Joel.
That part is easy once you know what to do.
Once you activate the generator you have to go upstairs, wait for the Bloater to get closer to you and then you go around it by using the room with washing machines and stuff, get out of that room and run straight for the door.

I guess it's just different personalities. I tried playing on Survivor and barely made it anywhere before I just got angry and gave up. I didn't find it tense I just found it very frustrating.
And all this time I've been fighting and killing them all (and dying frequently)... what a fool I am!
That's great, I never bought any of those cosmetic MP things anyway, thanks.

How many weapons is the remastered edition going to be missing? Are they gamebreaking? Much better than the default ones? I hate when games do that, sort of like CoD Ghosts, the DLC guns are amazing in the game.

I believe you can use them but you can build special custom loadouts without buying them?
Yes the game comes withnall dlc in disk.that means guns/boosters/maps

4 weapons in total will be missing, and can be purchased in a bundle for $5.99. They are all available for use in pre-made loadouts, but must be purchased to be used in custom loadouts. None of the four are game-breaking, and are given the proper loadout cost as to not become unbalanced. You can do absolutely fine in the mp without ever touching any of them.
edit: Can we add to the op that dlc weapons, hats, and skills are not included with TLOU:R unless you have already purchased them individually or as part of the season pass for the ps3 version. TLOU:R includes Grounded Mode, Left Behind, and the dlc mp maps, but not the weapons, hats and skills.
It doesn't need confirmation. Unless laws have changed in Germany (they haven't), you can take it as read that the censorship is still required.
I buy all my games and films from the US as I'm in a similar situation with censorship in Australia.
That woosh is the scariest and most brilliant audio cue I've heard in recent years. Absolutely essential to gameplay and adds tension.

Agreed. It is especially crucial in Grounded Mode. I lost count of how many times the woosh or Ellie pointing someone out saved my ass from certain death.
So glad I got the PS3 version with the season pass then. Normally I don't care about hats/gear but the more I played TLoU multiplayer the mroe I wanted to look different from the common character.

Not true. It only comes with the maps, Left Behind single player dlc, and Grounded Mode. The cosmetics, boosters, and weapons still have to be purchased.
To answer the question of weapons and perks being unbalanced, imo, no. Those that would say otherwise would probably say that for one or two items, but that's debatable of course.

This is so true. The whooshing sound that plays when you're about to get spotted is this game's unsung hero. It's a very clever stealth aid that doesn't feel too intrusive, while also giving you major chills.
And there really is nothing as cool as when Ellie accurately calls out "To your left!" during a pivotal moment, allowing you to react just in time. Like you said, it was a life saver in Grounded Mode.

I want to add something to the listen mode on/off debate. I think the game does change slightly based on if you have it or don't. One of the highlights of the game for me, was when I thought I had cleared an area of enemies. I was starting to move through to the next area when Ellie suddenly yells out something to the effect of "Look out behind you!"
I do a quick turn around and I see a guy charging at me with a pipe, just a couple feet away. I got off a quick headshot to down him, but I was pretty amazed at how that event had just transpired. If I had listen mode, I likely wouldn't have experienced it. I would have used it to know how many enemies there were, where they were, and most importantly, I would have known when the coast was clear.
I strongly want to urge anyone who hasn't played the game yet, to at least try the game on hard with no listen mode. You can always turn down the difficulty if you find it against your liking, and turn on listen mode if you feel it's too frustrating, but I really feel like you will be missing out on moments like the one I described if you come to rely on it. That said, I don't think that the only way to play the game is hard/no listen. If you find it too difficult and too frustrating, by all means, use listen-mode, and turn down the difficulty. I just think people owe it to themselves to at least give hard/no-listen a shot.

I'm pretty sure somebody from the studio on Twitter said it, but I'm not sure who. The press release however specifically says:

Are you talking about the ambient noise that tells you when someone is close to discovering you? This is a early example of one.
He did a stealth takedown but there was a enemy close by who could have found him, which triggered the sound.

Just play the game. If you feel like you don't like listening mode then disable it or just don't use it
Nothing official or even rumors with some weight. Just a prediction from a lot of people, myself included.
To my knowledge it's still very much a rumor, although it does make sense to release before U4. I don't know if anyone expects Naughty Dog to make it though, as it would now be relatively easy for a team specializing in ports to use the work ND has done on TLoU to work on their Uncharted remaster.

I'm guessing that ND/ICE's work on TLoU Remastered will be the blueprint for other studios to work on. I have a hunch that this was more of an experiment for porting documentation than anything else, especially since TLoU would probably be the hardest game to port.

Before you turn on the generator, go find the door and try it. That'll prevent any chance of Joel doing test run of the key when it really matters. After you turn on the generator, sprint away from it and through the door, across the corridor and into the large ground floor room, up the stairs, take a left and you're already there - you don't need to even set eyes on the Bloater.
