Visually it looks damn good. I really do not think there is an example of another driving game that has as much happening in the surroundings as DriveClub does with lighting that looks as good as this. There is so much detail in the environment in this game compared to other racers. And again, the lighting is just incredible.
Sure it looks like some concessions may have been made in other departments upon detailed inspection, but truly and sincerely if you are behind the controller playing this game and can only think about the presence of some jaggies, I honestly feel for you. You have strayed very, very far from the path of what we are supposed to be playing video games for, and that is for fun and enjoyment. Neither of which are affected by the presence of some jaggies here and there, especially when everything else looks as good as it does.
With that said, I do agree with some of the statements already made about how this does not look all that much like an arcade racer anymore. The driving looked very deliberate and calculated, which are two words I do not associate with an arcade racer. I have a gut feeling this game may have a hard time carving out an identity for itself because of this, which actually really sheds some light on the fact they said the delay was mostly because of the dynamic menu system. That is no doubt going to play the largest role in establishing DriveClub's identity, not the racing itself. At least that is how it appears to me the more we see and learn.
