Is it just me, or was the fight choreography (e.g. the editing mainly) really poor and confusing this episode? It felt like a number of shots were missing that should have been their to link different actions together.

Episode 5

Wow, that was really amazing. It only took 5 episodes for them to have a fight this season which surpasses pretty much every single one from the previous season. The animation, the effects, the direction, everything felt really on point this week. They definitely went out of their way to nail the introduction of the Silver Chariot stand. Really cool stuff. Also, there's really no way this is going to be 24 episodes for all of Stardust Crusaders. This season is definitely ending with Iggy's introduction I think.

I don't think so. It flowed pretty well. Which parts were confusing for you? It's actually pretty impressive how well they're adapting the nonsensical layouts Araki uses in the manga at times. I also noticed in the first season how lots of stuff are way clearer in the anime than in the manga.

5

Really slow and uneventful episode with a fight that was largely as boring as most other series coming from the era. Only interesting part was the shadow clone jutsu, but it felt vastly inferior compared to Naruto Shippuden. Though I want this series to be an actual adventure
some actual tangible progress moving their journey forward would be nice

Hopefully it takes off soon or else it will rival part one in being the worst part.

Trust me, that's literally impossible. There are just soooo many great fights in the horizon.

It isn't as obvious in that panel, but the entire conversation was actually originally conducted through the parrot. I kind of wanted to see them try and animate that dumb scene with the parrot talking. Also the parrot has cool hair.

For me at least, a lot of stuff is clearer just by virtue of it being an anime. Araki's art is a clusterfuck of detail sometimes, and seeing it in motion from someone at least mildly competent is a step up.

Part 6 absolutely killed me when I tried to decipher what the fuck was happening.

I only really had problems following the art itself early on. There's confusing stuff later but I don't think it was really due to the art. I also think style is the primary goal for a lot of his stuff.

i started watching this before, but you guys told me to watch the previous seasons. i'm glad i listened. man that was good. at first i didn't understand why they do those ridiculous poses, but now i've been doing these same poses like wamuu's ancient battle form right before doing something menial like cleaning test tubes for the next experiment. it just feels right.

so anyway, are we ever going to see this current generation jostar's dad? kinda want to see how grandpa jostar would act around him

I introduced my friend to jojo and before deadlifts he always says AWAKEN MY GAINS. Feels good.

Holly Joestar is so pure that she basically popped out Jotaro in a moment of sunshine and happiness. There is no Mr. Joestar.

If you don't think young Joseph is the best character get out of my face

if you don't think Battle Tendencies is the best arc GET OUT OF MY FACE

I like how Polnareff was all like "OK wait please, I gotta explain my powers first" and Avdol's just lets him, and explains his own powers later. Though at least this time they just shrug it off with chivalry.

lol at Dio's bird.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders Episode 5
Avdol is clearly the strongest stand user on the team, he is awesome, we got the final member and now the adventure truly begins, jojo really doesnt like girls liking him what is up with that haha
yare yare daze

This really shows how much better araki has gotten at his own artstyle and drawing in general over the years, didnt he release like an artbook last year? ive seen a few pages of it because I think somebody made a thread, im a fan of hisunique coloring, its crazy and everyone has green lips and everything and I love it.

The two brief shots between Crossfire hurricane being launched and Silver Chariot resisting are way too brief, they're only on screen for about half a second which is way too quick to follow the action currently. I mean, we all know what's going on but they don't show it on screen for quite long enough for it to make sense visually.

The cut where Chariot attacks the statue is also pretty bad, it's like it's missing (from a visual coherent perspective) the first few frames of movement. I don't understand the movement in that sequence at all.

The rest of the action is fine, but those few cuts are very bad and hard to follow.

I think the Crossfire Hurricane stuff looks fine. I just watched it again, and it's pretty clear what's going on. The attack if basically a donut fireball, and Silver Chariot just deflects it back with a sword thrust. Nothing unusual at all. It's a fast cut, but I don't think it's incomprehensible or weird.

The statue cut is just a bit more confusing, but since they proceed to explain ~what happened~ after that, it was probably confusing to Polnareff too. Visually though, what mattered was that something that looked like Magician's Red charged at him, and Silver Chariot slashed it as it approached, thinking it attacked the Stand. The movement in the scene is similar to those samurai fights where one guy charges at the other, the defending guy does a single attack motion, and the camera shows the attacker behind the defender at the end of the motion having received the fatal counter attack.

This episode was everything I wanted it to be. It was animated beautifully. Probably my favorite episode so far and if this is anything to go by, we are going to be treated very nicely on the rest of the fights. Can't fucking wait for next weeks episode!

Hi guys, it's nice to see we have an active anime/manga community here on GAF, I'm a huge fan of japanese manga (I read more than 150 so far) and anime, so you'll definitely see me around here in the future.

The bolded is crazy talk, the majority agrees that this is the best part of JoJo, you just don't know what lies ahead, that's why you say that, don't worry though you won't be disappointed. ;)

Also it will feel like an adventure, this is actually the most adventurous part of JoJo. It's just that things are being set in motion very slowly.

Which brings me to the next point: anybody agrees that the not so quick pace they chose is a sign part 3 will last longer than 24-26 episodes? In Battle Tendency they were burning through 4-5 chapters per episode, once in Phantom Blood they did almost 6 in 1, also they were cutting stuff left and right. Now they seem stabilized on a 3 chapters per episode ratio with no cuts and added fillers.

This way we would also get a new opening song and a new ending animation by the halfway point... so they can show
Iggy
in the opening!

They barely cut anything in the last 2 parts. Very minor things that did nothing and only slowed the pacing. My guess is they're trying to get a 1:1 adaption.

Yeah, my point is they won't make it in just 24-26 episodes if they don't want to make major cuts, especially with this pace. They'd need at least 40 episodes to show everything.

Unlike part 4-7 were fights often go on for half or entire volumes, here we have countless smaller and shorter fights, with plot advancement in the middle. The longer fights are easier to condense in just one episode through quick animation, you can't do that though when you have three fights per volume and the stuff in-between.

YES,
Pet Shop
shall be praised.

I liked the episode, the fight was good. I love when they change colors.
but, uhm, I didn't remember from the manga that they took a boat (one of the many things I've forgotten), and I think it's kind of stupid. I mean, they could have just taken a private jet or something (infinite money etc.), pick at least one trusty pilot, and at least just check that he isn't under Dio's influence.

This post is very ironic with the pic that you quoted and you clearly know about it.

I really like how the main cast is so willing to nearly murder their opponents before checking if they're under Dio influence, Avdol literally told Polnareff to kill himself or burn to death before deciding to check if Polnareff was being controlled.

Next you're gonna say "after they introduced Stands the old stuff became less interesting"!

After they introduced Stands the old stuff became less interesting.

BWAAA!!!

But really, I think Battle Tendency is a great standard shonen but I love what Araki does with the battles and stands in the later parts. They become a lot more about figuring out the enemy and their stand and less a pure test of strength. Even if that can be confusing at times.

HA! While you were busy talking about stands I secretly made you realize that stand fights are basically just homoerotic Pokemon battles and that watching me, Joseph, use wits and advanced planning to win with my own strength is totally superior!
