Part 4 is the best in my opinion.
Everything just seemed to click.

Best setting.
Best humour.
Best villain.
Arguable best Jojo.

Agreed, but let's keep this focused on the Stardust Crusaders anime. All the other Parts talk is for the community thread, isn't that why the thread was made?

Yeah, oh well, there's always the DVD/Blue ray versions later on.

I just wish it wasn't so censored since the odds of me going back to watch episodes in the future is like zero. They should just release the uncensored version for streaming after but then they cant sell 4 episodes for like $100 that way.

That's pretty much it! All the anime over there is so expensive...

Its disgraceful really.
Jojo already airs at gone midnight, they only censor it to drum up BD sales.

No that's not true at all. Different stations have their own tolerance level for what they would air. Censorship for violence and sexuality is common even for shows which air much later (at 2am or 3am) depending on the station and the nature of content. People complaining about free-to-air content is a very real thing in Japan, and stations take that into consideration.

I refuse to believe it doesn't play some part in it.
Maybe I am just cynical.

Hell Hunter x Hunter had uncensored dismemberment in the last episode and it airs at a similar time. Granted on a different station.

NTV is known to care a lot less about content other than their prime time stuff. They also aired Fujiko which was filled with nudity and creepy shit. Stations like TBS and Tokyo MX have consistently showed much lower tolerance for content. There's nothing unusual about it. "Refusing to believe" something that is common knowledge to those familiar with stuff is not being cynical, it's being ignorant.

Man I have been watching anime for what seems like an eternity and you wouldn't believe the underhanded stuff that goes off in order to maximise the home release sales.

I have seen it all before and to be honest I don't believe that not immediately accepting the most positive makes me ignorant, it makes me a realist.

Why are you being so dismissive when I'm explaining why it is censored? You said it was "disgraceful" and that it is only being censored to "sell BD/DVDs" which as I pointed out that is probably not true in this case since it would have to be censored anyway because of the broadcasting standards of the station. There's nothing "positive" or "negative" about what I'm saying, it's just a reality of how the world works.

That's being a realist. Looking and understanding how things really are, and drawing conclusions from them.

I don't intend to sound dismissive and I am not even saying your wrong.
I just don't trust these companies one jot.

But anyway, enough of this discussion.
Polnareff is here! 2nd best crusader has arrived.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - Stardust Crusaders 4

  • I know normal folks can't see/hear Stands but I refuse to believe a crowded plane full of passengers wouldn't notice if a bunch of people were punching at air or doing wacky poses or if a row of people just had their tongues removed :/
  • So Magician's Red and Star Platinum are too dangerous to use on a plane (which actually makes sense) but Heipheront Green gets to Emerald Splash all over the place? How does THAT make sense?
  • This Stand naming system still makes no sense. I get why Magician's Red & Star Platinum have their names but all the other just seem super forced onto the Tarot cards :/
  • Everybody gets the ladies except Avdol :(
  • That sure is some censorship O_O
  • How the fuck is the old man alive to deliver a parting message?
  • What exactly is stopping the crew from renting a small charter plane with only a pilot and them on it? Seems like an easy way to get to Egypt quickly and avoid the deaths of innocents. Plus unless they are traveling on a small sail boat with only them on it, there is no way to use transcontinental travel without anyone else around. Like I understand the author wanted to stretch this out for 50 days rather than a week or whatever but you gotta make it at least believable :/
  • Kakoyin is very well mannered and traveled. A great guy to have around :)
  • I like how EVERYBODY knew what JPP was getting at with the star before he even finished his sentence :P

Probably the only thing that particularly bothered me out of the list. I guess I'll just think that one's most vulnerable in the air as opposed to land or sea, so it'd be the most dangerous method of travel.

I really like Jotaro now. Having a total jerk as a protagonist is great.

1. Probably didn't have the cash to do that.

2. Bigger planes are much quicker, I think? You'd probably be able to cover a ton of distance on a bigger plane than in a tinier one. Less stops on the way.

3. If a pilot is a Stand user, they are extra fucked. On here, at least they'd have room to do something about it.

It's simple why really, you just DON'T want to be on a plane with Joseph Joestar, seriously. It'd be destined for failure :v

Exactly, lol. Never get on a plane with him.

The censorship was really noticeable this episode compared to the last ones, which of course sucks. It doesn't mean I really enjoyed this episode. Mo fo Polnareff is here.

Also I'm sure now that this won't be all squished into 24 episodes, and that they'll just take a break after 24 eps and come back after one or two seasons if they stick with this pace.

Stands do not always correlate 1:1 with a persons body some are just connected to certain body parts. Tower gray for example was only tied to Gray Fly's tongue. so he wouldn't die immediately.
How he was able to talk is beyond me though.

A few things
1- Did the manga ever state that Holly has 50 days before the effects of her Stand kills her?
2- Anyone else notice that Kakyoin was colored differently in this ep.?

Yes it does

2- Anyone else notice that Kakyoin was colored differently in this ep.?

Thats a thing carried over from the manga covers which are known for bright and inconsistent colors

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders Episode 4:

Ah yes, a golden rule of thumb is if a Jojo gets into a plane, bad things will typically follow. Anyway, welcome to one of the reasons why Walk Like An Egyptian was a dump choice for the ED.
Indeed no direct route to Cairo here and moreover only the last third or so of Stardust Crusaders takes place in Egypt.
The path has gotten longer and no less fraught with danger. It is going to be interesting to see if the proper treatment continues because we have a long journey ahead of us.

That was a pretty good Tower of Gray fight. It's one of the smallest fights in the seriesbut I thought they pulled off this episode well, with the gang's short stay in Hong Kong and the set up for Polnareff's fight in the same episode. It'll be nice to get straight into the fight next episode. The censorship is a bit much, though it's to be expected I guess. It's going to be so expensive to get the complete version of the show on bluray...
Is that... good, bad? I don't know the manga or its length.

Its pretty average.
2 chapters to one episode is probably the norm.

It means it's not a rushed adaptation and is probably around 50 episodes if it keeps this pace.

It's good if you want 50 episodes of Stardust Crusaders when it's all said and done. It's bad if you're worried that they'll be cutting out a bunch of stuff later in the series to finish the entire thing in 24 episodes.

I honestly can't see them suddenly going mega fast at this point.

If they wanted to cut, stuff like Grey Fly would be the first thing to go.

If they put Tower of Gray in, and bothered to use the entire episode 3 for setup, there's pretty much no way they're suddenly going to start cutting stuff to cram everything else into 24 episodes. It's going to be more.

Yep, it'll probably end up being 2 24-26 episode seasons.

Yeah I can't either. Which makes the 24 episode announcement kinda curious. Maybe we'll really have to wait for Stardust Crusaders II in 2015 for the second half?

It stuns me that they haven't been completely upfront about how they are handing this adaptation. Everything so far screams two seasons of 24 but why wouldn't you just say that outright?

1. Probably didn't have the cash to do that.

Joesph is loaded no? Even then, he has access to the Speedwagon Foundation's resources so it should be a non-issue either way. Vetting the pilot so they aren't a secret assassin seems like much less work than the path they've set themselves upon. As for travel speed, even the smallest of planes has to be faster than any number of commercial ships.

Yeah I guess it was the old man's tongue that fired when Tower fell (though he still looked mighty dead and "exploded" to me). His stand wasn't humanoid like many of the others. But then again, as you said, how does one form coherent sentences with no tongue?

That makes me wonder if there are Stand users with Stands associated with like their penis or breasts :/ Seems like it would be such an "anime" thing to do :P

That's with Killer Queen/Yoshikage(?), who had to use geometry to shoot attacks?
If so, then awesome it was my friend.

Kinda weird that they are going back to this series (3) after the ovas were so good. I'm a huge fan, so go in crunchyroll.

-Realistically more people should've noticed. Though with the tongue people, I assume they all died instantaneously and there wasn't much of a noise.

-I'm guessing Emerald's crystals wouldn't be as harmful to the plane as the punches and the flame (what was Avdol thinking lol). Same with the water.

-There aren't enough references to add I guess, but the Tarot theme still has to be part of the story, so...

-Joseph gets no ladies either :x Old men are not included.

-The old man speaking perfectly with his tongue sliced in half was confusing :P

-A ship would be safer than risking another plane crash I suppose.

Anyway, on this episode:

-I lol'd at the explanation for massacre.

-I knew Joseph would pilot the plane after part 2. Dude has the worst luck.

-I like the globetrotting thus far.

-I also like the Stands we've seen.

-I'm enjoying the fact that the characters other than Jotaro are getting some fights.

The next episode looks interesting going by the visuals.

So far this season has been kinda lame, but seems like maybe shit will probably go down next episode.

Yeah, I have to say I'm not really feeling this arc so far at all. I might just wait until the bluray is out or just wait until it's 13 episodes in then give it another chance
